LFS - love the red boots ... £19.99 how so?? I have tartan ones ( would go with your dress too
.. and flowery ones .I use marker pen to sort out the scuff marks
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Broomstick - Hullo! Welcome back & hurrah for proper warm slippers!
amber03 - have a wonderful week off!
sparrer - if any chocolate makes it home, I will be stunned. Delighted, but stunned. Love the disabled cavalcade! We had a Christmas present (ordered at splendid price) arrive - now to keep infant fingers off it til I can get it to sis...
DD - lads playing with camping stoves this weekend & they didn't kill a matchbox between them. Fingers crossed for Barcelona! Must try to have a Honorary Saturday sometime!
mhagster - never tried using an estate agent to get children tidying - does it work?! Soup from scary carrots - love it!
Frith - get the family heavy in & sort that man. You and your wonderful sons do not need, want or deserve this behaviour. Yeay for D&D (and dying - my son Loves killing us off.) Glad noone took the mick out of haircut. Consult beagle - let them negotiate holiday dates!
ampersand - dark wet windy & bleak is my usual am condition - just it does brighten up. Especially here! 2' truncheon beans - that would get my lads interested in vegetables all over again! Church definitely has it moments - I'm still hunting for one that "fits".
Chickenpolis - flexi is good for the mental health - especially after team meetings! Marker pen on scuff marks, eh - looks thoughtfully across desk...
BoP - unerring taste in sig again!
CCP - the right cats will find you when you're ready. Love the limerick!
Purple kitten - hoping the train cooperates today. Rest that foot!
Kittikins - hurrah for good first day at school!
lovefullshelves - had a weekend roundup of all loose books & have most of my TPs back (hurrah!) - lads do adore Death, whereas I have a soft spot for Sam Vimes & I get accused of channelling W deWorde. (Just because I can spell without a dictionary, mostly) Rosehips packed with vitamin C!
Monday's OS pleasures
Radio irony - "walking on sunshine" as I drive though rainy dark. Made me grin.
Street lights & taillights reflected on rain-shiny roads...
Building lights present new surprises - like the silhouette still life of photocopier & spray cleaner.
On finding the kitchen floor is wet (freezer door iced open) wet footed child is peeved "I blame Somebody Else!"
Seeing eldest turned out all washed & brushed & ironed for the District Photo. (Washed, ironed & starched necker - into which the only peson who could tie the Friendship Knot was me!)
Big hugs to all those that need them!0 -
I'm glad the limerick went down well - it made me LOL in the office when my DM sent it to me.
I'm another TP fan - I tend to like the wizard ones best - something to do with working in a university I think, although of course it's nothing like UU...Multi-£000's for eating birds' grapes??? Sounds ridiculous - what's the full story?
Grapes are very toxic to dogs - they can cause kidney failure and even death in serious cases. I think the multi-thousand pound vet's bill was a relief given the alternative!
Frith - glad the boys got back OK, poor lads.Back after a very long break!0 -
Tis lashing and lashing with rain! Good for the garden and to fill our water butts up.
Early morning call to friend back home, nice to catch up with her.
Yes DFV an estate agent does get children to tidy their rooms! 'Oh what tidy rooms your girls have' she exclaimed! However , I put her right and told her it was for her benefit! We have not had an inspection in over a year (should be 6 monthly) and she'd not been in the house since we moved in and was very impressed with my homemaking skills! Was a dark and dismal older persons house and now it's light and airy and a much younger persons house.....that's me by the way ...a much younger person
Returned a book to the library , went to pharmacy and then bought bananas at the green grocers......came home, finished another library book and then walked up to the library in the pouring rain and borrowed a few more books. Started book number 3 in 3 days.
Made a rather yummy lasagne, using rtc mince, scary veggies and pasta that friend gave me last month. Served with mash and sweetcorn, delicious.
Getting ready for Halloween .....the girls are having friends over for tea on Friday, so looking out my 'stuff'.....brought out of garage and checked for real spiders before it comes in the house.
So a low spend day with pharmacy and OHs medical appointment paid for but will be claimed back, a bunch of bananas and rtc mince, that fed 5 with 2 portions left over. No petrol used...just my wee legs!
Have a lovely Tuesday x0 -
Morning all - I am another who loved the limerick and has duly nicked it for the book of face
Ampersand - hope it isn't cheese
Broomstick - love an omelette, nicest and fastest fast food ever. Might have one for my lunch. Oh and rotaire cover, I have had one of those and they are fab. I need to get my arris in gear and get a new one. I might do that today too. Can you post more please as you seem to be reminding me of things to do
Helloooooo to everyone else
Pleasures for Sunday
1. Working all day - but at least being so busy is keeping the SAD at bay (I know it doesn't always work like that, but it seems to at the mo)
2. DS's team won 9 - 0 and one of the trainers said that although he isn't winning man of the match he is the most consistently good player. Might bode well for end of year awards
3. Did pulled pork for tea but ate it as a roast (so it was sliced pork). It was absolutely bliddy delish - will do it again when friends come in a couple of weeks.
4. Finally got to grips with some information the students need for their next assignment. Taken ages but should make next year easier. And marked two dissertations:
No Sh*t Sherlock #1 "there is no doubt that research methodology plays a crucial part in research"
NSS #2 " "there are two types of research methods, inductive and deductive. Inductive is <<blah blah blah>>, deductive is the opposite of inductive"
(no crackers yet, but 3 more to mark today!)
5. Downton
And for yesterday
1. when faced with a larger than usual queue of traffic, I cheated and nipped round the back route and cut in a mile up.Naughty I know but I couldn't face the wait
2. teaching went well, back on more comfortable territory
3. meeting with a former student who wanted some advice on his masters dissertation. Given that he is doing it at Kings college, London I was flattered he came to me.
4. Orange dinner - fish fingers, chips and beans. Quick and easy, given that I didn't get in till after 7 and OH wasn't here.
5. But had made Manchester tart yesterday so we had that for pud.
Have a lovely day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Cutting the Mustard. Custard, Real Butter. Plenty of Golden Yellow things to keep us all buttered up, with toasted crumpets! With full flavoured Raspberry jam, with pips and crunch! To some, just a decent beard rub. To DFV, unnerving!
3 Porage. With extra crunch this morning. No better way to start the day, and the clocks going back, giving me an extra hour beauty sleep on SatDi, what more could I ask for
5 Just had my five a day, with three fruit salad. No not that prepacked gumph that Mr T throws in the bin, but from whole pineapple, melon and oranges. Enuff for next week as well, and Ms Whack has done the 6 cheese and pineapple pizza as well.
1 Surround yourself with the positive.
2 nite will be Scrabble nite again. Just too much now as Ms BoP is getting toooooooooo good. She slammed down a 7 letterer last eve. Fortunately she hung on to the x for a few goes instead
4 others amongst you, the spotted !!!!!! is safe in the refrigeration device, ready for another outing this Sunday.0 -
Whilst BoP was making spotted !!!!!! on Sunday, I was visiting Spotted !!!!!! (aka Pudding) and his babies.
This is Angrove Spotted !!!!!!, (again, I know he's been here before) the well-named stallion at Angrove Stud.
Dr C. with the older of Pudding's babies that we part-own, Fatty, (Angrove Fatrascal) his breeder on the left.
Above is the younger of the two hopefully future racehorses, Boo, aka Angrove Mumsbuns. I so hope she makes it, commentators are going to have a field day with that name.
Enjoyed all your posts, but posting these took so long, no time to comment!!
Forgot to add, Fatty is now 15 months old and Boo is nearly 6 months old. Big girl.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
mcculloch - coo, hasn't Boo got to be a big girl? Quite a beauty, too - I've always had a soft spot for coloured horses.
1) Did a... not quite a Reverbe, but similar, finding a £5 note in the pocket of a coat I haven't worn for a few weeks.
2) Got drenched in the only serious rain we had all day - the pleasure was getting home, taking off my still-damp shoes, and putting on my fluffy panda slippers instead.
3) Finished my OU assignment - I just need to sort out the formatting on my work PC tomorrow, as this one is on its last legs and playing silly beggars, then hit 'send'.
4) Only one more day at work this week, then I'm off cat-hunting on Thursday and doing beggar-all on Friday.
5) Pub quiz tonight - I'm struggling to find the enthusiasm to go at the moment, but I know I'll enjoy it if I make the effort.Back after a very long break!0 -
Mcculloch - love the photos . I still can't get my head around how much the stallion really is a racehorse. That lovely head. The whole thing still throws me, in a nice way. A fine looking family he has , much to look forward to.
VJsmum - I did laugh at the "orange" dinner
5 for today
1. Site visit went well
2. I could hear the rain pelting down and thought I am lucky to be indoors reviewing files! Not so, in the summer of course
3. Quick visit to the office prior to visit. My colleague gave me two tins of travel sweets from L*dl as a token of appreciation for giving her eggs.
4.Terrier's face peering out of the window at me as I pulled the car on to the drive.
5. Macaroni cheese for tea ( yellow dinner);)
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
