Frith - I love the kitchen. It's so tidy! No kitchen jenga for you I note.
    1. The parcel came :D
    2. Stove top stuffing mix..american style
    3. Rice a roni - rice and tiny pasta in sauces( cheesy and yummy)
    4. Hamburger helper...I'll give that a try this week!
    5. Dried melon..so sweet
    6. Cheese powder! Great in rolls.
    7. My grandmothers Identity card from 1943. I cried when I opened it. I never met her as she died from a brain tumour when my mum was 14. But mum always said I was like her. As a collector of WW2 things her identity card was so special for me.
    8. wearing my 'zombie apocalypse' outfit :D ok..so its a short, green tie dyed dress...thick tights and big hefty biker boots (I wear shorts too as its a bit short!!) It makes me feel like I could defeat zombies..don't know why. My daughter disapproves('its a bit short mum') but you're a long while dead as my mum always says (unless you are in fact a zombie) and it makes me happy:D
So, big hugs from empowered older woman in short skirt!!

Love your blog by the way x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    4. Sunday supermarket shopping, under budget!
    5. Sunday snooze but just a tiny one!
    6. Sunday slow cooking! Made curry with RTC chicken which we had tonight and in other slow cooker made RTC steak for pie for dinner tomorrow .
Made a spicy veg soup with some scary veggies.
    7. Sunday sofa .... Finished a good book and watched 2 tiny wrens and the baby crow in the garden.
    8. Sunday slave labour.... DD1 cut the grass and DS who has hayfever , hoovered downstairs !

DVF because I love having visitors and want them to feel welcome, not uncomfortable. Mind you if it's as good as advertised I might move into the guest room for the winter, it's a bit smaller so easier to heat :)
Thanks Frith - I remember when you got yours and how much difference it made for you. Congratulations to your DSis, love hearing happy news :)
DD so pleased for you that you had a happy day. The friend who stayed last week is in much the same position as you although not fortunately still in the same house. Hope you get it sorted soon.

    1. Sounds like WW3 overhead, Shuttleworth is having a Flying Day and they're just practising before they open. We get lots of 'free viewings' living between three airfields, I love watching the huge planes flying, reminds me to be thankful for people like our fathers/grandfathers
    2. Tried a new, freebie in-shower moisturiser, not exactly as smooth as the baby's proverbial but as least I smell good :)
    3. Yellow thing was up before me (I'm just a sloven) - will mow the lawn this pm, hopefully for the last time but who knows after the last couple of years. September last year, November the previous one
    4. A strange pleasure if you can call it that - the young man who died recently of cancer had his funeral on Wednesday. His family work for the Forestry Commission and it was held where they work. His 9y/o daughter rode her pony in front of the procession, his friend rode his motorbike behind it. A very beautiful and appropriate celebration of his life.
    5. One of the apples, Coxes O.P, had fallen from the tree so I had it for breakfast. Tasted fresh and cool and dewy

    Have a sunny day :)

stupid computer is playing silly burgers which isn't helping with the work I have to do. Hope this posts OK otherwise I will be

Sparrer - what a brave girl, riding in front of her daddy's funeral cortege
Mhags - I love the idea of Sunday slave labour - unfortunately, that seems to be me :( I am doing something wrong
Frith - congrats to your sis. I am not sure sweeping up bat droppings could be a pleasure :p
LFS - I have some of that tiny pasta, I must work out what to do with it. Mmmm dried melon sounds yummy. I have dried mango - I love mango even more than chocolate
DforV - surely the horses are kept in the chilled food section? :rotfl:
Tealady - mmm custard brioche. I am a little obsessed with Aldi Chocolate brioche
Parson's wife - please call in more often, we are nice here.
DD - hugs for your problems, I hope they sort out soon. I can personally recommend Sri Lanka in January :p
CCP - did a similar soup thing with watercress, carrot, leek, courgette and other odds and sods found in bottom of fridge. It's surprisingly nice.
BoP - beard rubs back :p

    Yesterday's pleasures

    1. Didn't sleep as late as I'd have liked, but did get 8 hours so can't complain. One night of jetlag is a result after abusing my [STRIKE]bodies[/STRIKE] edit, can't leave that, body's clock.
    2. Omelette and salad for lunch - fastest and nicest fast food I know
    3. DS got off on his DofE. Panic phone call at 3 o'clock "where are the tent pegs?" After insisting it wasn't his fault (it was) that they were left behind, the Head Teacher stepped in to say they would try to manage with what they'd got so it saved me a drive to deliver them (me "where are you?" DS "At a campsite":huh: )
    4. Baked cake to take when I pick up DS and mate - they will be "starving" and a pear and raspberry crumble to take to
    5. Friends for curry. Yum. Drank a little too much. Their DD, my goddaughter, has just started Uni and is having a FAB time :T)

OK, back to the grind. THis house stinks of vinegar as making green tomato chutney. I deliberately grow green tomatoes for this purpose (yeah, right :p:rotfl:)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    5. 45 minutes on exercise bike whilst watching a program about Hitler . Made me pedal faster I can tell you.

    5 for today

    1. Croissants for breakfast. Didn't make me ill for once as didn't have a hot drink with them (?)

    2. Sheets and duvet cover drying on line. We have a bit of a heatwave here today :D

    3. Terrier sneaked in to curl up on the pile of pillows and the duvet that had been stripped due to the above.

    4. Just been to the park with the terrier, it was lovely and warm and I probably have a watch strap mark from the sun .

    5. Curry in slow cooker smells divine!

have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
  • The rules have changed and I keep them! Still cannot believe I was trounced by Ms BoPsie on Friday night. I suppose it will not last.

5 Had Dog Omelette this morn, with stringed spagYetti. The nectar of the BoP, Just cannot understand why tiger also loves the tom sauce the spagYetti comes in. Licks the plate clean every time.

4 Had a good day at the rugby yesterday and got in the papers. Invoiced them as per the norm. Was good to get back and see how they were getting on.

    3 Guess what!

2 gether with Ms BoP. Well, acvtually Ms BoP also did the rugby yesterday. and her photos, while exceptional and very good, really are no match for your BoP's photo's

1 Arrange a day for the chimney sweep to come round, you see, Santa does not want to get ...

3 Just had fish, chips, mushy. Orange juice. And for desserts, home made spotted !!!!!! with the old favourite, lumpy custard.

    Afternoon

    1. Not a good night's sleep as DD was babysitting and supposed to finish at 12, she got in at 2:40 this morning. Just as well she was only across the road but the pleasure is she earned £40. As not slept meant I was up at six and
    2. Baked ginger cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes for lunches. Also stewed some sad looking apples and plums to go with porridge for breakfast this week. Cooked a ham and a chicken for sandwiches during the week and put a loaf in the breadmaker. Also made a small pot of tomato and red wine sauce using some wrinkly tomatoes, will use this to make a bolognaise sauce tonight.
    3. Fish finger sandwiches for lunch on HM bread, one of lifes simple pleasures
    4. Popped to tesco for a few bits I wanted for friends birthday and used lots of vouchers so boosted clubcard points greatly. I shop there rarely these days but still like the clubcard vouchers.
    5. Peppermint tea and more custard brioche, yum

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening all.

Feeling very dozy this evening - I didn't sleep well last night so ended up sleeping in late this morning, which just made me feel worse. :(

    1) NSD and NPD, for the second day in a row.

    2) Watched the replay of the grand prix as my oversleep meant I missed the live race: it was a good race, too, although my fantasy F1 team would do better if Mark Webber's car would stop bursting into flames mid-race!

    3) Made the first attack of the ivy left over from the removal of the garden shed, and filled up my 'green waste' bin - the rest will have to wait until it has been emptied on Wednesday.

    4) Planted up some primroses / polyanthuses (I can't remember which they are now :o), and threw in some dried-up bulbs I found lurking in a corner - I have no idea if they'll grow, but it will do no harm to try.

    5) I've got a beef, tomato and coconut curry simmering away on the stove, and it smells . (Snap, Chicken - it's obviously curry day today!)

    BoP - great photos. :)

VJsmum - I'll be having the vinegar problem soon as I also intend to make some green tomato chutney, although so many tomatoes are now ripening that it might end up being red tomato chutney instead. :undecided My DF has always been a great chutney maker, so to me autumn smells of boiling vinegar!

Frith - I think I've said it before but this is the first year I've had any success with growing chillies - in the past I've been lucky to get more than one or two,
Back after a very long break!
