Let's find some Saturday pleasures:
Slept in....woke up at 6.30am ( after a dreadful nights sleep.) but that's 2 hours more than usual!
Chat with sad friend from home....then realised as I hadn't woken at 4.30am I'd better get a move on as I had to get ready for work!
Using a little bar of expensive soap , I'd bought 2 years ago in a sale and found recently, when I was off work and had time to do things!! It's a lovely scent and was nice to use this morning .
Work.....well....busy! No time for nice food though did stuff some bread and butter in my mouth at 3pm, was starving! Changes are a coming....very stressy and just keeping my head down and working hard , it's the best I can do! There are still good things happening and still learning lots of new things but staff morale low as we keep losing staff.
Home! To my book and my sofa and my chatty girls just wanting to chat and me just wanting to read....sent them on a bribed mission to buy chocolate!
It's my little great nieces birthday so have phoned her to wish her a very happy birthday ....she is 2!
Have a lovely day0 -
Told yous I was going to be so grumpy, and I was. Just so too grumpy, BoPsie ad to wake me up.
1 And down the wooden hill, was a full English breakfast. Now that has cheered me up no ends. See, I was never going to be grumpy all day. Be back later with pleasures and photos.
Oh, DD. First boss rule, the bucket will be empty, every job costs an hour. Hugs, except between 3 and 4:45!
Firth. Get the crusty rolls in lass, we is all coming to your gaff for soup.
And those with flu. BoP is at risk and had his jabs this year. Beard rubs.0 -
DD- I'm so sorry to hear about the promotion - I really can't understand how that can happen.
Kittikins - hope you're feeling better by now.
1) NSD and NPD.
2) Received my £100 cheque in the post, so I can pay that in on Monday. :money:
3) Made a start on my new OU course and completed most of the first week's work within a couple of hours. (It's designed to be accessible for anyone, without any previous knowledge, so the first few weeks are a bit basic if you're studied the subject before as I have.)
4) Went to add some watercress to my lunchtime sandwich and found it had gone a bit manky, so I turned it into some very green soup for work lunches next week.
5) Picked a double handful of HG tomatoes, a HG chilli, and a lonely, very late HG strawberry which was hiding under the leaves.Back after a very long break!0 -

Evening
DD - Hope you get the promotion sorted out
Frith - Kitchen looks fab
Kittikins - Get well NOW
Pleasures for today.
1. Food shopping done and came in slightly under budget even with a few treats. Thats a few pounds for the now empty sealed pot.
2. Managed to get the big freezer defrosted. Have now managed to defrost both freezers now so can have fun filling them both up.
3. Washing dried on the line today as was such a nice sunny day.
4. Cup of peppermint tea this afternoon with a piece of custard brioche, yum yum
5. Sausage and pasta soup for dinner and enough left for me to have for lunch on Monday as long as I hide it from OH.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Frith - drumming every Friday? Ulp.
DD - have a wonderful time travelling & may HR get their collective noggins in gear for Monday. Love clever daughters sorting you access to charity shops & affordable trains!
sparrer - my own home remedies for most ailments include tea paracetamol & harsh language, but ginger is definitely a go-to in Autumn. Why are you buying a luscious Guest Bed?
mhagster - sorry to hear work not a present source of joy but girls need to learn the healing power of chocolate.
BoP - must try a Full English on grumbling menfolk. Sounds effective!
CCP - still have homegrown starwberries?! (Envy!) We have one small pepper and three flowers at present.
parsonswife - welcome back & right with you on tea!
tealady - Both freezers?! Awe!
Todays pleasures
Litterpicking with Scouts. They were so good, hard working and cheerful & I'm so proud of them. (Son had the grace to shower, thoroughly but fast, so I could have a long sluice!)
To son, inhaling potatoes boiling "Don't nuzzle them!"
"I wasn't! Well, only gently." Life cannot be bad when a child gently nuzzles a pan of spuds & then his mother...
We have a corner cupboard, with a shelf. Into it, we piled tins.
(Need I go on?)
We now have a kitchen table concealed under a sea of tins & a cupboard with a broken shelf. The OS pleasure will be scrubbing it clean...
I have bought new duvets. They are waiting for the temperature to drop below 5 at night before I will allow them to be unpacked. (Is this Money Saving or mean?)
Listening to a child in Tesco, wondering where the horses are kept. "The out of town stores, must be. Can't keep a horse in the back in those little ones."
Hugs to all who need them!0 -
1. Spent more of the day awake than asleep! Hoorah! Thank goodness for No2!
2. Am in love with pholcodeine linctus!
3. Dragged myself out to a church hall with DD so that she and her new best friend could go to a film club with 60 others! Thankfully I went through a door into the peace and quiet of the main church and did some studying
4. A lovely text from one of my uni chums asking how I am
5. Yummy dinner, thanks mummykins
6. Met DD's new friend's mummy and she's very nice. We're going over next weekend.
7. I have arranged for DD's other best friend (from our old home) to come for a sleepover during half term0 -
Frith - I love the kitchen. It's so tidy! No kitchen jenga for you I note.
1. The parcel came
2. Stove top stuffing mix..american style
3. Rice a roni - rice and tiny pasta in sauces( cheesy and yummy)
4. Hamburger helper...I'll give that a try this week!
5. Dried melon..so sweet
6. Cheese powder! Great in rolls.
7. My grandmothers Identity card from 1943. I cried when I opened it. I never met her as she died from a brain tumour when my mum was 14. But mum always said I was like her. As a collector of WW2 things her identity card was so special for me.
8. wearing my 'zombie apocalypse' outfitok..so its a short, green tie dyed dress...thick tights and big hefty biker boots (I wear shorts too as its a bit short!!) It makes me feel like I could defeat zombies..don't know why. My daughter disapproves('its a bit short mum') but you're a long while dead as my mum always says (unless you are in fact a zombie) and it makes me happy:D
So, big hugs from empowered older woman in short skirt!!2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD0 -
Sparrer - hope the new mattress is OK. I had a new one earlier this year and sons had them with the new bunkbed and we all appreciate the difference.
MHagster - sorry to hear work is not going smoothly.
I'm not ever mentioning my HG chillies again, CCP. I don't know what curse I put on pot plants but it is an embarrassment to me, with its 3 chillies and leaves dropping off everywhere.
Dundeedoll - hope your anniversary day went OK and that you enjoyed Edinburgh. I haven't been there in donkey's years.
DigforVictory - a bit like I had a handyman in my kitchen then a handyman with a wall unit on his head unexpectedly and holes in the wall where the screws had pulled out. Hope you get it sorted.
Kittikins- get better NOW!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Neighbour (not MrN) as noisy as she has ever been. Kids screaming and shouting. They had (I think) got into my garden again at some point as bigger son's bike was knocked over and one of my birdboxes had mysteriously unhooked itself from the fence. Stereo hauled out into the garden and booming all morning. Pleasure was that her children then went away with their father and she is out this evening!
3) Lots of texts and 2 phone calls from smaller son.
4) Did more and more painting of last bits of the kitchen. The only thing left now is the 2 shelves need another coat.
5) Helped my mum clean her church including sweeping up bat droppings.
6) Fish and chips for tea from the travelling van.
7) My brother and my friend from school came over.
8) Enjoyed Strictly and Casualty.
9) Went geocaching in the afternoon and found 2. Very scenic positions, both of them.
and best news until last!
My mum had asked me to pick her up at 1pm to clean the church. I was chatting to my friend on the phone til 1.30 but thought the church cleaning could wait a little while.
So drove to mum and dad's to see sister and brother in law were there. They had been waiting round the table for me since 5 to 1, champagne glasses at the ready as sister and brother in law have got engaged!!!
Mum had specified the time of 1pm just as a ploy to get us all round the table at the same time. :-D
There was a long story behind the ring which was made in the Jewellery Quarter (as was mine, strangely enough). It is lovely, a rectangular emerald with a small diamond on either side.
All very exciting!0
