Get well now, CCP and Dundeedoll.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son had a good day at school. Had a little chat with the mother of the other boy in his class.
3) An hour walk today!
4) House reasonably tidy.
5) Bigger son plodding on with music project for school. I know more about Pachelbels canon than I ever wanted to now.
That's about it!0 -
Evening
CCP/DD - Get well NOW
DFV - Glad you managed to get all the cards stopped, it fee;s like such an invasion when things like that happen
Mhagster - Glad nothing was stolen from your car, another
BoP - Great photos
Pleasures for today,
1. Managed to hide the left over sausage and pasta from OH so we both had that for lunch today, OH in food flask and mine was microwaved at work. DD had a ham wrap, so no spending on food today :money:
2. Expression on friends face when she opened her 50th birthday present from me and another friend, she shed a tear or two. We are taking her on a spa day with afternoon tea afterwards in a couple of weeks. She has had a hard time over the last couple of years and her OH is pretty useless so was great to see her so pleased and we got it at a special offer so :money: as well as.
3. DD had some unwelcome attention on the bus home tonight but some boys that she has made friends with at college looked after her and one got off the bus with her even though it was before his stop and walked her home to make sure she got home safely.
4. NSD
5. Just shared a box of macarons with OH and DD that were on special offer in Lidl, very yummy.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
hoorah (kind of muted) for your re-promotion DD, bigger celebrations will follow on the thread when its in writing x
Nooooooooo, please no one have the dreaded cold, get well soon xx I was hot and shivery and exhausted by 3pmstayed til 6:30pm, went to Brownies to pick DD up, came home, ate, chatted to parents for 5 minutes, then came up to get ready for bed. Have done enough work to keep on top for tomorrow I think....
mhags - how horrible to come back and discover your car broken in toI once thought my car had been broken into (and I'd left my cards and cheque book under my seat!!) when I walked back and saw the window wasn't shut.....then reached the car and realised I'd wound it down (yup, it was a long time ago!) and had left it like that. What a numpty.
Frith - aaah Pachelbel's canon, one of my faves x
Mcculloch, welcome back, I was wondering where you'd got to. Glad you're recruiting people to the joy of triking. My now exboyf loved his trike, it revolutionised his life when his MS got too bad to let him bicycle.
1. Got through today's lectures and lessons without feeling too shabby.
2. The sun came out!
3. Despite leaving 'late', I was still in Uni for 8am and got lots done before my first lecture.
4. Lovely caring feeling being back with my tutor group
5. DD got up at 7am (and made me 'late', but what the heck, she's worth it) and we had a nice chat and cuddles - and she completely disobeyed my order to go back to bed! I'm such an authoritarian
6. She had great fun at Brownies and told me all about it on the way home. She also had her spelling test a day early - good job we practiced them last night!
7. Was so pleased with my yummy HM salad for lunch today that I've been organised and have made one for tomorrow. Sat in my favourite spot amongst the lavender before heading back to the library for more 'fun'!
8. Enjoyed listening to Mishal Husain on the Today show on my drive to Uni this morning.0 -
Frith and KK, Pachelbel's Canon is my very favourite thing in music.
Some years ago one of the guest artists appearing at the live music club I got to every week offered his latest CD free to anyone who could name the piece of music (and composer) that he had based a tune on....
I knew before he even started it what it would be and I was right.
I felt really embarrassed to accept the CD, and did explain that it was my favourite piece of music.
The career of the guest artist continues to grow and I've bought several more CDs that he's released since then.
I turned down the opportunity of a free drink when another guest artist did exactly the same thing from the stage a few years later.
They are in good company in citing Pachelbel as an influence. There's The Farm with 'All Together Now', Coolio's 'See You When I Get There' and Green Day's 'Basket Case' plus a couple of others that have been so horrendous I've blanked the artists out.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Tuesday's delights have included:
Parking right outside work and not receiving a parking ticket! Very naughty !
Avocado on toast with a poached egg for breakfast!
Leaving on time and not doing an extra hour....I really just wanted to go home at home time!
A beautiful day, the sun finally has made it to Melbourne and a beautiful blue sky. Good drive home....I'm now very confident ( as I do once I've done a drive enough times) with my drive to and from work. A few weeks ago it was still scary!
Chocolate ( special offer) and my sofa! A new book and a cold drink...lovely!
Spag Bol for tea later on.
Have a lovely day0 -
McC smaller son and I are sitting on my bed giggling! Part of bigger son's homework is to name modern songs influenced by Ps canon!!
Not at school, dentist at 9.30......0 -
Get well soon, DD!
One last pleasure for yesterday, which I only remembered after I'd turned the pooter off last night:
5) A mog on the local CPL website who I'd had my eye on for several months has gone off to a new home. :j It's a definite pleasure as, although I'd more than half fallen in love with his beautiful, sad face, he had serious health problems which meant I couldn't take him myself (I did that with my last one and it broke my heart on an almost daily basis). I'm so glad someone was able to give him a good home for however many months or years are left to him.
Will be back later with more [STRIKE]sniffles[/STRIKE] pleasures.Back after a very long break!0 -
Morning all - a working from home day, and I do have to work. New cleaner is here :T thank goodness
Mhags - your cakes sound so yummy. Chocolate and hazelnut tart - I am drooling at the thought
Glad Mrs BoPsie is giving you a run for your money. 6 months without TV :T whilst I think I could happily do that, others in the house would object
McCulloch - you and your trike are an inspiration. I picture you as fab and funky
Chicken - did it end with "off"?:p
CCP - hope you feel better soon
DforV - please, just once for me, say "hello tailor" pleeeeaaasee :rotfl::rotfl:
DD - congrats on the promotion. You old jetsetter - you're worse / better than me
Frith - I am taking a leaf out of your book and going to do more walking. I am putting on a little weight and I think it is lack of exercise as I don't eat any more than I did. (it is not my age, it is not my age, it is not....)
Tealady - aww chivalry is not dead
Kittikins - loving that you are loving uni. HOpe our freshers are enjoying it as much
McCulloch and Frith - whilst I like Pachelbel's cannon, one of my favourite music pieces "oh what a world" by Rufus Wainwright, features the much abused "Bolero" beautifully woven in. Gives me goosebumps and was the first thing I ever heard Rufus sing. I fell in love.
Yesterday's pleasures
1. teaching went well, I think. THank goodness I did the work for local tourist attraction in the summer cos it has made a difference to my knowledge and confidence in this subject that I am teaching for the first time.
2. Drove home and there was no traffic - was able to get DD to lifeguarding on time
3. Had a really long chat with a friend.
4. Kids had cooked their own tea as I didn't get home till 6.30, so I had a cheese and chutney roll. (poor abandoned children. Actually, it's good for them, but I still feel a little guilty)
5 HOuse is looking reasonably presentable for the cleaner today.
Have a nice day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
CCP so pleased to hear about the poorly mog having a new home.
Tealady what kind boys, nice to know your DD was in safe hands after her horrid experience
VJsmum I was a 'latchkey kid' from the age of 8 (didn't know this adult-invented expression so it never affected me as a child) so I'm sure your DC cooking their own meal once in a while won't lead them into the hands of the social services
chicken what an unpleasant little person, well done you for standing your ground
DD good news on the promotion front, will be even better when it's confirmed.
CCP and DD get well now
1. New mattress arrived and old one taken by a grateful freecycler
2. My lovely neighbour and her DD took the new mattress upstairs for me, I'd been trying to move it for ages when she knocked on the door saying she saw the van deliver it and wondered if I needed any help to get it up the stairs. I'd only managed to shuffle it backwards and forwards, it's so heavy it kept falling back onto the wall so I was more than grateful for their offer. (They did it in about two minutes!)
3. Started new pulm course yesterday, pleased to discover I can still do most of the exercises though they've added a few more just to confuse me
4. NSD/NPD today - much needed although I filled up at the Irish company last week, have been been to DM's plus done lots of local trips and still have 1/2 a tank left. Loving the cheap fuel and economical car
5. yellow thing to wake up to and still showing itself through the clouds. Makes a happy start to my day
Have a good rest of the day0
