5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

6. Decided that I was fed up of looking like an old English sheepdog, so wandered into a posh hairdressers and had a brilliant cut. I made the most of the freebies on offer - neck and shoulder massage, shiatsu bed-type chair whilst having my hair washed, hand massage
I read that as 'shihtzu' and wondered why you were sitting on the dog!
I didn't post last night as this bug is leaving me feeling totally wiped out and I spent most of yesterday evening struggling to keep my eyes open until it was a respectable time to go to bed.
1) Remembered just as I was leaving for work in the morning that it was green waste collection day, so the first batch of ivy has gone and I can do some more clearing over the weekend.
2) Couldn't find the energy to cook a proper meal so had a bacon sandwich with HG tomatoes for dinner, and very nice it was too.
3) Finished a free kindle book - it's ridiculously melodramatic (murder! Red Indian attacks! (it's set in the 19th century) smuggling! shipwrecks! :rotfl:) but rather entertaining all the same.
4) Early night - I was in bed and asleep by half past ten.
Have a pleasant day today, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Get me! Just in from gallivanting ...on a school night too!
Oh my goodness , I cannot ever remember in all my many years struggling so much with the clocks going forward! Yikes ! Anyway....up at the crack of dawn...even just before it cracked and had to get ready for work!
But the most stunning and beautiful seam of sunrise over the Dandenong hills made it all worthwhile .
Work was workable ....another days money earned. So much tension...our beautiful , talented baker has left....one more down! But we did have a new addition to the team, he's really nice and I think he will be good fun to work with....and he works!
Home....to my sofa, it has lashed with rain all day so was nice to sit and watch the garden all green and sparkly from the comfort of my sofa.
Finished my book....a bit of a whodunit....I was surprised at whodunit !
Then I had a bath and a read through the magazines I brought home from work last week, will pass them on.
Then glad rags on ( forced the zip of size 14 jeans up over a size 15 belly! ) and went out with my main colleague for a drink ( soft) and a shared bowl of nachos. We had a nice night...a bit of a moan about what's going on at work, she dished the dirt on baker's leaving and a good blether about lots of other things. Was nice to see each other out of work.
That's been my Thursday ..have a good one...beddy byes for me!0 -
DforV - :T:T nearly there
Chicken - still young and pretty, I bet.
DD - a hurdle overcome, well done.
Wednesday's pleasures
1. A wonderful email from brother with a newsclip to say that the book mum was working on just before she died (a local history book - her 4th (in collaboration with others)) has finally gone to the publishers. So, so proud. The newspaper clip mentions her specifically and the effort she put in and that she was the brains behind it. We are all absolutely thrilled as nearly 4 years have passed and we thought it wasn't going to happen
2. Cleaner came - not MSE or OS but, boy, I need her and she is pleasant and did a great job. Even on DDs bedroom
3. Soup and pud day - broccoli and cheddar soup, with homemade bread followed by syrup sponge pud and custard. Real winter food but won't help the weight loss
4 Pride of Britain - though it was a little too much of a Zeleb fest
5. Lovely colleague sent me a pile of stuff to help with my tricky Friday lecture
ANd yesterday
1. OH came home from his hols. He's had a nice time and bought me some tulips from Haarlem (well, it's near Amsterdam :rotfl:)
2. Nice walk to and from station
3. Good teaching - bit of a trawl through the particular subject, but needed to be done and students were very good about it.
4. Nice lunch and [STRIKE]bitc[/STRIKE] chat with colleagues. Big changes are afoot for our department so we shall see what happens.
5. Dad was v chirpy on phone, due to news of mum's book, I think. Said it "gave him a real boost".
Day off today but involves shopping, laundry, tidying conservatory (cleaner couldn't get in there) and preparing for tomorrow. Trouble with changing my day off from Fri to Thurs is that I keep thinking it is Friday when I still have another day to work, I miss out on being a lady wot lunches (as friend works Fridays) and I end up spending part of it preparing for Friday. Oh well, there's many worse off than I and it is only till the end of November.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Manflu, a sickness for the weaklings. Hugs to the PK house! hankies all round!
Tiger has become tooooo fussy now. He is getting his pills everyday, force fed by BoP, whilst wrapped in a towel to stop his paws from flailing out. Now, he is back eating, but is up nosing about his food. Back to that one called W15k545 again. Blessed thing. Also, Ms Whacks reckons he been fed elsewhere.
2 – 1 to BoP last night. Clear street in the end, as I managed to come back strong. Reminiscent of the days of old. It is much better now we have the main light on so BoP can see the bored. Count back again, but in this game, BoP laid the blanks on a 7 letterer, on the treble. Solid move! Then 2 at cribbage. Thing is Ms Whack does force her BoP to have a wobbleade, and the later it gets, the easier it is for her to win.
1 You must prune the tree, so that it can bear new fruit.
5 Had my five a day yesterday. Full flavoured and fruity. Nicely bottled and washed down with ease. Well, one had a hint of fruit, the main fruit being hops! Hic hic hic.
3 Told the Maire Curie salesman to go forth. Knocking on the door gone 8pm in the evening. Whole posse of them. Must had got a few from the local [STRIKE]university[/STRIKE] college. They would be better off getting a job in the communal 45D4, the dearth of the community. Our slums of tomorrow, paying their share of section 108 to the community has given us the Great Western By-Pass for Gloucester, a nice new college, only years after the previous one got built. (Note to educationalists, a college is a sea of teaching, a university a seat of knowledge)
2 gether with Ms Tease, cor she could tear a decent strip around the place. We has completed our anti sheep Christmas lunch menu. See what you thinks. No cold turkey here!
Starter
Salmon, spinach Omelette, served on hairy coarse toast (Home made bread, smothered with mnarmite and cruch!)
Intro
Salmon and Crab cakes, served with mushy peas and chilli jams
Mains
Mushroom masala, with fried rice, topped with poached egg!
Now, BoP is unsure about whether this should be egg fried rice, with crunch or rice topped with poached egg! Ideas please!
Lates (at 5)
The infamous (recipe available on 1st November) BoP Xmas pudding, served with IoM whisky sauce.
Lates
Mince pies, jam and lemon curd tarts. Always looking for s decent tart!
No Brandy will be used in the exercise of this chrimbo, due to the frogs continuing to attempt to sell missiles after 7th April 1982.
4 tunes abound. After a month listening to the OiPod music, we has finally got out of the A’s and into the B’s. And that started with 15 classical tracks from Bach! Conductor’s baton at the ready. Cool! Fares please. Room for 2 more on top!
And after all that, I always try and keep to five every post, even if a grunt, or a pleasure.
But what about 5 things to give up?
5 Smoking 22nd February 2005. Quite hard at first as on the Sunday, I bought another packet of 20! Did as the nurse said, started the patch on the Monday, but smoked every last one of them, that way come Wednesday, I would not be scrabbling in the bin for them.
4 being a ignoramus. No, just open the door, be pleasant. Not hard. And welcome people.
3 Free yourself from negative influences. Cut them out, and throw darts at them. We are TV free. No droning noise filling with endless tripe.
2 ears to every person. Listen to others, that way you hear more and nod.
1 stay on this planet. Try not to extricate yourself early.0 -
All round to BoP's for Christmas lunch, I think!
1) Today's sudden burst of chilly weather made me realise I need some new gloves, and I found a pair I really liked but they were a bit small. Then I went into another shop and found a pair that fit better and were a third of the price. :money:
2) Pea and ham soup for lunch - not HM but a delicious autumnal pleasure all the same.
3) Had a brief  moment when I tried on the cheap coat I bought online and it didn't fit me - indeed didn't come close to fitting me - and I thought my attempts at losing weight were going backwards. Then I tried on another item I bought, supposedly the same size, and that fit me fine. After a chat with the very pleasant CS rep, he quickly agreed that something was clearly wrong and they would pay for the return, look at the coat, and then call me back to see what they can do about offering a replacement. Excellent service there! :T
OK, I'm struggling for more pleasures, but three's not bad. I look forward to reading everyone else's, which I guess is a pleasure in itself.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all !
LFS - you are funny .. Us girls who spend, or who have spent a lot of time outdoors being "physical" I think have an "earthy" (ok dirty) sense of humour..Some can't fathom it ! Tough;)
DD- you are brave you know.
VJsmum - You must feel very proud of what your DM has achieved. I admire your cleaner:rotfl:

2.My colleagues had bought in some posh biscuits.
3. Got a nice email from the company I visited yesterday. So I spent most of the day creating templates that they need.I don't have to , but I think that they will put them to good use.

1) hooray i survived the dreaded wedding anniversary. Trained down to edinburgh with dm who was changing trains at edinburgh to go further south

1.Inpromptu hospital visit after a bad fall at work today, I’ve a hairline fracture, thankfully not a non weight bearing break, just have to RICE it, the pleasure being it’s not broken, thou it did show I had previously broken my ankle that was unknown!”
2. We just had an intercontinental meal, I made, Chinese rice, Indian curry and French bread.:rotfl:
3. Digging out a bid ol fluffy jumper to warm up in, the way those heating prices are rising is scarey.
4. Appreciating the RTCs we have picked up last night, 5kgs of spuds for 23p. a whole bunch of salad and vegetables for 10p each and some prepared melon for 30p and food planning around it all.:)
5. Popped on to check Christmas points, nectar / tesco and advantage points as saved them all year and pleasantly surprised / £44 in Mr T / £25 in Nectar and £75 in advantage
6. Looking forward to friends coming over tomorrow, thou thanks to pleasure one, they may have to take us as they find as and while I know they will I feel a bit guilty as I do like to make the place a bit less “lived in”.:o0 -
1. Two wash loads dried on the line before it started to spit with rain
2 Offer of two tins of C-word sweets for £7 in Mr M. Bought 4 (DD asked me to get 2 for her) much to the disgus of the asst mgr who insisted it was only 2 per customer until I pointed out it said 6 on the shelf ticket. He then told me the till wouldn't accept more than 2 tins, by which time I, and a few others who were buying them, were getting a little impatient. I told him in which case it would be two individual transactions, I would put the bar across and pay for them separately. He wasn't very impressed, and even less so when others followed suit.
Moral - don't mess with the sparrer, especially when she's cold and crotchety
3. The money order arrived for my AVC payout. No, what shall I spend it all on?
4. A survey company paid a useful little sum into my paypal account
5. The long stay car park at the airport tried to charge me more than the on line price, they phoned to say the price had changed since the ad went up. Was even colder by the time I'd got home and not really in the mood to argue so simply said that trading standards should be told how badly some companies try to rip the public off, and was offered their meet and greet (chauffeur parking) service for the on screen price of the service I wanted. And I was only being sarcastic!
6. Just changed my utility company, fixed for 4 years, saved almost £100 a year and will get cash back. Thank you :money:
Still tired, still cold, and still crotchety because everyone wants a bit of my time to discuss their problems while no-one wants to listen to a concern I need to talk through. I will go to bed and will feel much more amenable in the morning
Sweet dreams0
