Sparrer - I am sorry to hear that muttley has been having mini T.I.A's
.I am sure that your DGD and her BF will be very grateful for your kind gesture. Wish I had, had a Sparrer when I had bought my first flat:)
DD- get well now !
Mhagster - I never get my head around you having nice weather when ours is dire !
5 for today already!
1. Woke up feeling like a snotty snail or a "snotty creature" as OH kindly put it. Had enough of moping around so...
2. Did a PK and got loads of mince rtc before 8.30am. Gave some to DM.
3. Took the tiny terrier out as she was "shouting" at me in disgust when I came back from the shops in my car. DM made me some toast upon my return.
4.Beef casserole now in slow cooker , hoovered the house from top to bottom( although had shaky legs afterwards), two lots of washing now on the line as its a nice day here today, better make the most of it!
5. OH got two tins (well...plastic ones actually) of Q.Street from Mr. M's for £7 - now "hidden" under the bed :rotfl:He got me some mint choc ices as my throat is sore.
6. Ignoring my cold seems to have helped .. I am a bit "all or nothing" on the illness front and I am confident that it will only stay for the least amount of time possible.
Have a lovely day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all, and thanks very much everyone for pretending not to notice that I've got the days of the week muddled up - it's clearly Saturday today, not Sunday!
1) Mooched into Southampton for my OU tutorial and, arriving early, got chatting to a very nice lady in reception who turned out to be the person who wrote the course!
2) Met my tutor, who seems to be the most laid-back tutor I've ever had - he told us not to worry about essay deadlines and not to even bother telling him unless we're going to submit them more than a week after the deadline!
3) Afterwards found a fairly pleasant pub which was (rather bravely) showing the Portsmouth match, although I had to be careful to keep quiet as cheering for Portsmouth in a Southampton pub could be quite literally the last mistake I ever make! :lipsrseal
4) Then wandered round the Seacity museum, which was surprisingly interesting and is another one to cross off my 'to do' list.
5) Planning a naughty night tonight, with a cheapy takeaway pizza from the offer over there ->
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
For Friday
1.Had a much needed day off
2.Thank you for the kind comments I can still weight bare so I am ok but I have rested it today, definitely “r”ested and “e”levated the leg today and it seems a lot less painful tonight.
3.Have been chatting on the phone to a couple selling their van privately as they are giving up for now, we are going to visit it tomorrow in Brum.
4.Grabbed a free big pizza and sides tonight with vouchers, I love this site it’s taught me to embrace vouchers
For today
1.We travelled to visit a private sale caravan and it is wonderful and now it is ours!!:beer:It is absolutely lovely, airy, really nicely made, so happy. The sellers were giving up lock stock and barrel They were a really lovely couple to deal with they were sad to see it go, but it’s coming to a good home, and we plan to keep hold of it for a very long time now. We are now the proud owners of a new to us Adria. very happy.:j:j:j
2. Now its back home we had a look through it and as they have given up completely its come with everything, cables for electric, step, waste water and water holder, ramps, tent pegs, ali awning, kettles, security locks, plates etc etc etc loads of bits n pieces, just making our way through it and making a list, some things need fixing where they just haven’t been used at all!
3.While sitting in M25 traffic on the way back (we picked it up from Brummy land) we were next to an Aston Martin with the number plate R3 MSE!:)
4.Made chocolate cupcakes.0 -

1) Have log in to son's puter. Hooray. It's so much better than my laptop with the dodgy mouse-mat.
2) after bad night had long soak in the bath and read some more book.
3) took dogs for a walk up the park. lovely autumnal day.
4) took them home then down to shops to buy steak rounds and sausages for son then dived into CS. It's like playing grown-up dressing-upI bought a lovely cardi, a top, 3 scarves (one is also a hat and is cosy over my bad ear) and some really sweet chicken candles for a friend going through a rough patch.
5) dd2 and bf just walked through the door. unexpected surpriseMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

mhagster - darn tootin' children should be able to "see to" themselves - mine can forage (and find my chocolate stash) with ease. Family lunch at work in lovely weather sounds wonderful, even including octopus.
BoP - forgive my ignorance of such vital matters culinary "man toast"? Cribbage as well?!
CCP - no need to *argue* over the Oxford comma, but debate...! (Not touching -ise issue with a stick.) Dark beer in a Christmas Pud, eh? Enjoy the guilty pleasures of life, they're rare. Intrigued by your tutor!
DD - atta girl delighting in the subtlties of punctuation! Fluids against stinky cold & stay warm - so glad you got a hat - versus a sore ear they really do help. Hope unexpected guests bring health-bringing foods?!
Chickenopolis - keep drinking! Dehydration does not stop a runny nose, just leaves you feeling Worse. Beef casserole sounds wonderful!
the frugal frog - with you in enjoying the rain, from comfortably withindoors!
Frith - great to see school making such a positive impact & hurrah for bingo supper!
sparrer - if we can't have a crochet every now & then, we'd end up quavering. All the best with doglet!
Skint yet Again - thank you for reminding me - must sort utilities pronto. Lunch sounds yumptious.
Purple Kitten - HURRAH for caravan Adria, and all it's bits & doings which will save you a stack of extra purchases! Keep right on resting that foot. A loadbearing fracture still *hurts*.
OS Pleasures
Son made delicious chocolate eclairs, with real choux pastry, cream & chocolate. The late night shop is entirely forgiven!
Muppets mnur-mnur (do Doo do-do doo) song in the radio on the drive home - always makes me grin & seems a lot of under 10s feel the same way!
Retiring colleague speech included a lovely bit of business with "what you can do with this" (his building pass) which turned out to be seal it in a secure envelope addressed to the security team... Much laughter amidst biting regret he's going.
Saw photo on cousin's Facebook page of a lemon & ginger syrup brewing - looked delicious & a very bright idea against the seasonal coolth.
Just planted out the last grown-from-seed seedlings. They're leggier than supermodels & I'm filthier than a Rugby Club post-game review, but it's satisfying just the same.
Big (now scrubbed) hugs to all who need them!0 -
I heard the mna mna song as well DigforVictory, it was yesterday wasn't it on no. 2?
Get well soon DD x
Last few days....
1. Quite a bit of sunshine, but blimey it's chilly in between enjoying the rays!
2. Treated my mummykins to lunch out today
3. Took out some chicklits from the libraryI need a change from the academic stuff........
4. Great lectures and seminars again this week
5. Will be getting a nice refund on overpaid council tax soon - hoorah!0 -
Evening all. Gosh so busy I am Struggling to keep up with everything. I have had to give up a couple of threads on here and checking some other websites as I can't fit it all in. Probably not a bad thing, if I am honest
Sorry for all those who are poorly, hope you all feel better after a good nights sleep
Good news on the caravan, PK. Love a good caravan shop
Back to being envious of Mhagsters weather
Pleasures for Thursday (, blimey Thursday!)
1. Day off :T
2 did shopping in mr t and they mended my glasses. I am not doing so well with specs at the mo, little niggly things keep happening that are repairable but a pain
3 nice salad for tea with home grown tomato that tasted of nothing. good job the rest went in chutney then
4 watching loads of autumn leaves blowing off the trees as I drove back from DDs school
5 bought new arctic monkeys CD and its brilliant
And Friday
1. First off, I am starting to loath Friday as it is ridiculously busy, start at 9 finish at 4 and no time to stop in between. So first off OH did school run so I didn't feel guilty about leaving kids to fend for themselves
2. Walked to station this end and to and from station in Brum. So that was nice
3 teaching was OK, but some of it is a steep learning curve and I feel the line between conscious competence and conscious incompetence is blurred somewhat.
4 OH, DD and I went to see "the fifth estate" (we missed the first 4 :rotfl:) Cumberbatch as excellent as ever. I lurvessss him:p
5 bacon sandwich when we got home as I couldn't be [STRIKE]ars[/STRIKE] bothered to cook
And today
1 OH and DS went to Wales train spotting, they got up at 4 but I managed to get more sleep after they'd left
2 walk to train station, between stations in London, along sea front at dads and then all in reverse.
3 train events (as a former work colleague once said, things just happen to me). Firstly I went to loo on train, opened the unlocked door and, yes you've guessed, chappy sat there, trousers down, got the shock of his life :rotfl:; on the train from dads I looked up just as the very image of Harry Enfields "waynetta slob" walked towards me  and then the train manager telling a group of kids that "there's no e in Gravesend":rotfl:
4 Dad was OK, a lot chirpier than he's been of late
5 OH met me off train, came home to dinner that I'd prepared thurssday, couldn't be bothered to eat yesterday (though we did cook it, buts bacon butties were quicker) so it was in the fridge and we could eat it tonight :T
6. Managed to do my model answer to one of the seen law exam questions that I am going through with students. Luckily I ended the scenario with "analyse and argue both sides" rather than "who won the case?" As I actually don't know the answer.:o
Wow a marathon sesh of catch ups.
Night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Keep meaning to go to bed but it is too hot in here to get up off the sofa!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep and a lie in.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Had a tonne of logs delivered this afternoon. Borrowed MrN's wheelbarrow so all logs now stacked neatly outside and down either side of the fireguard in here.
4) Fish and chips from the travelling bus for tea.
5) Enjoyed watching bits of Strictly and all of Casualty.
6) Took a while to get the stove going (out of practice) but it is now going TOO well! Got the window open upstairs!0 -
I'm posting early whilst I still have Internet.
Sunday scone
Sunday storm
Sunday groceries ....a few bargains to be found on special offer.
Sunday chores ....ironed whilst watching Casualty and no doubt....
Sunday snores!
Have a good one! vjsmum you would not be envious of today's Melburnian weather....tis shocking! Rain, wind, more rain , bit more wind, tad thunder, tad lightning, more torrential rain etc.....I am blooming freezing!
sparrer hope your doggy is feeling better today.....pats on head !....doggy version of hugs!0
