Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1) A high interest, fixed term savings account I set up has now matured, so I can use the money to buy a new computer - it's much needed, too, as this one has been barely limping along for several months now.

    2) Feeling somewhat brighter and less dozy than I have done for the previous few days.

    3) Managed to get up to town and back at lunchtime before the heavens opened.

    4) Chicken nuggets for dinner tonight, something that I have a rather guilty fondness for as a very rare treat.

    5) Accompanied by a glass of the wine won yesterday - just one glass, though, as I've got to be up early tomorrow to trek into Southampton for an OU tutorial. :undecided I'm going to treat myself to lunch and a wander round a museum while I'm there, though, so I've got something to look forward to when getting up so early on a Sunday. ;)
Back after a very long break!
  • I am having a quickie :D:D:D, a double header.

Oh, and the England football team died, Leon 14th June 1970.
  • Good evening all !

    5 for today

    1. Took the terrier out before.. the heavens opened and before my nose became Niagara Falls:o

2.DM bought me a huge rhubarb yoghurt . Nice and cool on my throat.

    3. Snooze on the sofa this afternoon.

    4. Made pizza dough in breadmaker and made two small pizza's as one large one would make my half contaminated with OH's Chorizo (YUK).

5.My cousin who lost her husband recently due to brain tumours called me and has asked me to help her fill out some forms for her daughter who has a profound disability which seems to have got much worse since her Dad died suddenly .Happy to help tbh.

Ten words down. BoP eight behind.

BoP regains ground to 86 points, but Ms Whack slams Dowdier on a treble. Hic.

BoP struggling. Now 63 points behind.

BoP getting his end away, laid a decent bird, Jay. Now only 43 behind.

Down to the wire. Two places for BoP to get out. 31 behind. X to play.

X Slammed down. Twenty five scored. Will it be enuff.

    Ms Whaski counts back 4.

    Boooo gar!

    Round two. Cribbage.

    BoP well street ahead

Down for the last time. Ms Wacski fingers were off the pegs, two extra points to BoP. Nearly there.

Only two to get. BoP to peg thirst. More wobbleade.

Wobbleade served, missed out playing, but pegged thirst. Victory yo BoP.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went to the MacMillan coffee morning at smaller son's school. He's been there a fortnight now. Took my mum as well as she hadn't seen his school before. Son's year was running the coffee morning in the hall and it was VERY odd to see him talking to class mates, sort of talking to his teacher then jumping up to show mum the way to the toilet!

    3) Meeting about smaller son at 2.30 with his Base teacher. Well, it's all lovely! She doesn't mind that he skips assembly and stays in the base at lunch and breaktimes. He is doing very well. :-)

    4) Quick tea of chicken kievs, some stir fried veg and corn on the cob.

    5) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    6) Went to bingo in the village hall. Smaller son won spaghetti, meatballs, sauce and garlic bread so that will be our dinner on Sunday. We also won some smarties in the raffle. :-)

Thanks all, sorry to have offloaded my crotchetyness yesterday, am definitely feeling less moody today :)

Bless you chicken, thank you. The query I have concerns a soon-to-be homeless person reasonably new in my fellowship so really needed to speak to somebody who's been a member for a long time. Managed to chat with one this afternoon who said what I thought they would, don't do it. Feel quite relieved that the decision was taken out of my hands, so to speak.
PK hope you're feeling a little better
DFV the taco's sound just right, finger lickin' good :D

    1. Best news of my day, DGD1 and her BF are moving into their first home next week. They've been saving for ages and found a super little brand new place just right for their jobs, etc.
    2. Maybe not really OS but can't take it with me, am buying their ff or cooker for them when they find exactly what they want. This is why we save, cut down, economise etc.
    3. Doglet had a TIA yesterday, the second in three months. Very worrying but no apparent long term damage except sleepiness and we're a quiet household so hopefully he'll be himself again in a short while. I think the cat is aware of something not right, he's been very friendly toward muttley which is most unusual!
    4. nsd/npd
    5. The water butt has been refilled. Got to look on the bright side...;)

    Sweet dreams :)
  • PK hope your ok x

Frith - great news about younger son settling in school... what an amazing difference a nurturing school can make x
My DS turned himself around in his last senior year with the help of 2 teachers who mentored him and built up his confidence in himself after years of being told he was a bad person who would never amount to anything. When I see how much he has progressed and who is is today at age 18 I am so proud of him.

Chicken.. thanks for the words of advice.. will persevere and hope for some improvement

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1. Its Friday !

    2. Rain washed my car ;) Taking a leaf out of sparrers think positive book :D

    3. Paperwork came through for switch and fix gas and electric thank goodness I did that before prices shot up

    4. used up some leftover corned beef, tinned potatoes and beans for lunch with fried egg... nom nom. Don't normally have a big lunch but was feeling really hungry today, must be the cold weather

    5. charity bag has come through the door for collection on Monday so I can get rid of the next lot of books, clothes and some nicknacs without having to use petrol and go to the shops

Have a good weekend everyone x

Hello....my patio doors are open, my front door is open and it's a very pleasant day ( make the most of it as its to be cold and wet tomorrow )

    Today I

Phoned a friend from home and had a good catch up with her.

Got the train to work and saw , in action, the car parking attendants , who mark your tyres with a piece of chalk on a long stick. They then check if you have overstayed your welcome ,when they come back to check chalk marks! Yikes!

Met up with my main colleague for breakfast before work, she paid today as I paid the other night. I had the yummiest cheese on toast! It was a beautiful morning and we sat outside and had a groan about what's going on at work! I phoned OH to share my happy moment with him.

Work....hmmm..slight , hormonal meltdown....oh dear, my hormones do let me down at times. However had a chat with my boss about a few things! We were busy all day which is good for business.

Short shift and DS and DD2 came to meet me and had some lunch at work, got 20% discount and a free piece of chocolate cake. Made with 80% cocoa ...very rich but very yummy. I had chicken stuffed with herbs and ricotta , the tastiest artichokes and potatoes. It was seriously good. Son has spaghetti with cuttlefish and octopus ....he struggled a bit with it but ate most of it (bleurgh)

Wandered back up the steep hill in the warm sun and didn't have long to wait for a train.....his girlfriend was waiting for him , so we were briefly introduced!! She is very pretty!

Looking forward to a relaxing evening....loving the lighter nights after 6 months of dark ones! Do have a lovely weekend.
