Busy morning here! Man is here to finish off my kitchen (hang cupboard doors, put handles on etc). He hung one of the doors and the unit came off the wall (complete with cake tins inside it). So I've had a quick trip to B and Q to get some timber. By the end of the afternoon, it won't even think of falling down! There may be a photo later. The first work towards the new kitchen was collecting units from Ebay way back in February. It seems to have been going on forever!

    5 for yesterday:

    1) Both sons had an OK day at school. Mrs Honey says she is going to try her best to get smaller son to talk about his feelings/why he gets upset. I hope she can; I told her that I rarely manage.

    2) Last feedings of animals and poultry for mum and dad. All well!

    3) Brother came round with bigger son's belated birthday present (a fishing rod). Bigger son so pleased he took it to bed with him. :-)

    4) Both sons happy in the new bunk beds. Got them a couple of glow sticks each to help them settle in.

    5) Bigger son worked hard on his DT project without too much nagging.

    6) Another instalment of Harry Potter.

    7) I painted the kitchen shelves again ready for the man coming this morning and watched The Wrong Mans and Holby on iplayer while I did so. Anyone who wonders what brother of Frith looks like - he is the doppelganger of Mathew Baynton who is the thin one on Wrong Mans!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Just kitchens and school runs here then we are off to look round a prospective high school for smaller son this evening (OK, its the ONLY prospective high school!)

    Evening all.

BoP - glad tiger's OK and not pregnant: given how much damage one tiger can do to a game of scrabble, I hate to think what a whole litter of them could do! ;)
CCP - still curious as BoP's cat as to this legal matter that brings in such money!

The payment was not so much for my time as for access to my flat for a surveyor who is trying to work out how much the building would have been worth before it was converted into flats - not an easy job given the number of times it has been extended, altered and converted since it was built 150-odd years ago!

I've had a lazy sort of day today:

    1) Woke up early to the sound of rain hammering down, and had the inestimable pleasure of rolling over and going back to sleep knowing I didn't have to go out in it!

    2) The surveyor was very pleasant, and we chatted quite happily while he was taking the necessary measurements. He had to confess that he had forgotten to bring the cheque to pay me, but promised to post it as soon as he got back to the office so I should have it by the weekend. :money:

    3) Found out why the wild bird food was disappearing so quickly: a wood pigeon had worked out how to stand on the mealworm tray and eat out of the feeder! :rotfl: I've now moved the feeder and taken the tray away, much to the pigeon's evident disgust!

    4) HG tomatoes on toast for brunch.

    5) While I was out last night I hung my favourite coat up by a radiator, only to find that it was leaking and marked the coat with rusty water. The pleasure is that, now it's dry, you can hardly see the mark.

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    1. Work ok

    2. Team meeting ok

3.Giant niece (17) and giant nephew(14) staying next door at DM's as Brother and S.I.L in Vegas. I love 'em both to bits and they are my FN's.

    4. OH made himself a cassoulle (sp) in the slow cooker before 6am. I could smell ye olde garlic wafting up the stairs .. He also had some duck to go with it for tea.Pity I can't stand either as I liked the smell of it cooking.

    5. Day off tomorrow !

have a good evening all !

    I'm back again already!

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) The nice kitchen man wasn't mortally wounded by having a double unit fall on him. There was a muffled cry of "help" and I dashed in and helped him sort it out!

    2) Kitchen looks nice now. :-) Picture tomorrow when I've got it really clean.

    3) Mrs Honey is still pleased with smaller son's progress. I am having a meeting with her tomorrow (is it awful that I've forgotten what about?!) I think its a pre-meeting before an annual review. Or before the high school lady comes to talk about him.

    4) Bigger son was also cheerful today despite having to wait for us to pick him up in a monsoon.

    5) Phone calls with my brother, back from holiday.

    6) Tasty tea.

    7) Open evening! Got quite lost. I knew the school was on 2 sites but not where one of them was. Unfortunately that was the one we needed. Anyway, went to their Communication Centre and introduced myself and the leader said she had heard about son from Mrs Honey at primary school. :-) So their centre is lovely. She showed smaller son where the pupils can cook their own lunches and bring mainstream pupils in to eat with them. He was told if he earned minutes he could go in this plush room with posh chairs and play on the Xbox! So he installed himself in there so I could talk to the staff at length. :-)

It sounds quite intense in that they (in the Centre) have to start at 8.20. Some person, who deserves a knighthood, has realised how difficult it is to get the pupils to do homework so they all sit together in the mornings and do it. Then they get together again at break and lunchtime to socialise. As long as smaller son can spend at least 60% of his lessons in with his year group, he can go.

We then wandered around the rest of the school and bigger son was asked numerous times whether he was looking forward to starting there and he had to explain he is already in year 8! We had a samosa and an Indian sweet from the RE department.

And that's it! Absolutely tired out now from the concentration and chatting to so many different teachers and the driving about.

    A quiet day tomorrow.

Oh dear mhags I do hope the atmosphere at work picks up, it was so good at first it's a shame to see it slip

    1. Good drive down to DM, no hold-ups on M25! Or anywhere else, definitely a first. Love having an mpg meter and watching it creep up, got 53mpg by keeping under the speed limit, it's certainly slowed down my Lewis Hamilton tendencies on mways. :o
    2. DB came over and we took DM to do her weekly shop, then to lunch. DB seemed particularly huggy today which was nice
    3. Went to what looked a nice pub for lunch, unfortunately my lamb roast came covered in sherry and port gravy - not mentioned on the menu (very naughty) but as one who can't have alcohol I could taste it instantly. DB asked for another dinner without gravy and the owners wife became very obstreperous, saying 'our gravy is made the traditional way, we don't have it out of a tin'. Didn't argue but traditional to me is gravy browning, cornflour and meat juices. However, she returned my meal and all she'd done is put the original food still covered in the gravy onto another plate! DB wanted to complain but I just left it. When she collected the plates DB asked to see the chef (her husband), he came out and DB explained about the gravy, he apologised profusely saying it was a bad mistake to have made - all the foods with nuts in say so - and refused to let us pay for any of our meals or drinks :D. Had a very nice salad sandwich when we got back to DM's
    4. no rain here when I left, a little bit in Henley, none here when I got home. Hopefully will be able to mow the lawn tomorrow
    5. friend popped in this evening to collect some paperwork, and brought me a beautiful white cyclamen. Luckily it was dark and the curtains were closed so she didn't see the couple of dozen I planted earlier in the week! It was a lovely thought and looks pretty in theceramic holder she put in in

    Sweet dreams :)

Morning all. Got to go to work today and for every term time Friday this year :(. A shock after 16 years of not working regular Fridays. On top of that I am not confident with one of my lecture slots - which is for four hours

And the house is a tip

    Ah well, yesterday's pleasures

    1. I GOT GLASTONBURY TICKETS !!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j. Woobloodyhoo :T:T
They went on sale at 6, I left DD in charge while I dropped DS to footie, by time I came back at 6.10, she'd got them. She did get Wednesday instead of Thursday, but oh we'll - WE GOT THEM :)
    2. OH got away on his hols ok, he is currently in Prague but is travelling around. He has a holiday with his mates every year. It involves trains and beer  we do see each other sometimes
3 sinuses were playing up so I had to lie down. It allowed me to catch up with Downton.
4 home made nuggets and Chips for tea
    5. Did the shopping, so the fridge is full again. OH never buys enough when he goes and I haven't seen the fridge that empty for ages. He always says he doesn't understand why my shopping costs so much more than his :rotfl:

Right I am away to wing it erm, draw on my years of experience :rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I will try again with a brief 5 from my phone:
    1. Hurrah !
    2. Sad news from best friend back home but a pleasure being there for her at end of phone and as I have free calls not worrying about length of calls ( just as well:))
    3. Work and yummy avo on toast and the most amazing mushrooms !
    4. Home to a call from my boss, whilst my job is safe my hours have been cut to the absolute minimum I can afford. Will see how I manage. Cakes and bread will not pay uni fees.
However , I shall embrace the spare me time.
    5. My sofa. My office. My garden. My birdies. My book. My bar of chocolate ! Hurrah indeed:)

    Have a lovely one :)
