Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

I'll get some pleasures in now as I'm going out straight after work and won't have time later.

    3) Received an interesting letter which, at worst, gives me the opportunity to be really nosy and, at best, gives me a decent sum of money for doing not very much. (Sorry, can't go into details as it's a legal matter!)

    1) My nosiness paid off: I am in my letting agent's good books for finding out enough for him to do a thorough investigation, for which he paid me back by telling me everything he found out, and...

    2) I can claim the money as well - £100 for 5 minutes of my time sounds good to me!

    3) Ordered myself a nice new winter coat, reduced from £90 to £27, from a website mentioned in the MSE newsletter. :money:

    4) After a major downpour last night (sufficiently heavy that I took the un-MS step of getting a taxi home from the pub quiz, feeling that was a better option than drowning!) it's fairly warm and dry today, and the yellow thing has made a couple of tentative appearances.

    5) Day off tomorrow. :D

BoP - I hope the terrible tiger's OK.

VJsmum - that tower's smirking at me. Make it stop, please! ;)
Back after a very long break!

Our Tiger has placated the Vet, gosh there are like policemen, get younger. He strutted around as usual and ...

He has a chest infection to go with his dickie ticker, so tablets and plenty of cuddles from Ms BoPsie. I have given him his tablet (2 a day) and no marks!
Oh, and he was not pregnant.

    5. hair done, no longer worried about being mistaken by badger cull ;)

    6. freezer turned itself off. Checked plug fuse and socket. DS came home and managed to sort circuit board again so its back on. Only Yorkshire puds and bread rolls defrosted so all is not lost

chicken well done on the potential payrise. I too will move to the lowest rung of the next ladder :D
    1) last of the external examiner lunch chicken with salad for my lunch
    2) almost a nsd but got delayed at work so ended up getting bus home. Very kind bus driver stopped short of the stop when he saw me running
    3) ds still here but currently going through maths problem with xoh
    4) sound of laughter of small children next door. Totally priceless
    5) taking tights off. I do not like tights. I have very long legs and they are always so feely. But the joy of taking them off in the evening makes them almost worthwhile!

Chicken - well done on the pay rise
    And DD on the promotion

Purple kitten - waves to fellow Simpsons fan!
sparrer - sleep *isn't* an OS pleasure? but an aromatic brassiere certainly is!
Chickenopolis - owch indeed. Mostly to the ego. Top negotiations on the pay!
VJsmum - your watchtower has ears! Awww! and welcome home! "had to turn it sideways" - I needed the neck exercise, anyway. (My brain is struggling to process it as upright & I'm supposedly running GMT)
DD - a good rocky road recipe is a real & enduring treat... Children laughing is just the best sound in the world!
mhagster - sounds like the best way of taking family to a funeral without having to travel - big hugs all round!
Frith - delighted to hear both sons industrious & that elder son is cooking marrow soup.
BoP - delighted to hear you triumph at University Challenge too!
CCP - still curious as BoP's cat as to this legal matter that brings in such money!
Skint - jump starting a car, clad in dressijng gown & slippers? While warm bed cools? Better luck next Monday! (Practice nurse has funny poster pinned to her ceiling for such tests, along with small note "trust me". All helps!)
lovefullshelves - the baffling American food parcel sounds delicious!

Most of my OS pleasures today have been unexpected phrases.

"Pass me the tin of wax and a clean pair of underpants please."
    <beat>
"From the Rag Drawer!" (If a voice can flounce...)

"He can't come to the phone. He's watching a really interesting program on embroidery." Thank Heavens Grannie 'gets' historians.

"Oh his foot's lots better. He's wearing slippers." Grannie asked...

Driving in the rain in the dark - the road gleams, glossy & patched with carnival lights from street lamps, shop signs & the occasional domestic light.

Tidying up (held at it by the beadily unforgiving eyes of offspring), I found last year's birthday cards - from the team I was training with. The signed mousemat carries the in-jokes of that week together as well as names. And I did Some Tidying.

Big Hugs to all who need them!

DD- well done to you too!

    DfV
    - lovely post . Every Saturday my DM used to say "if you don't tidy move your stuff it will end up at the end of the garden!" . It often did....

    VJsmum - Spaghetti junction ??:p

Have a lovely day all !

    Ahhhhh....it's nearly Friday isn't it?

Interesting shift again....many changes at work but I still have a job....quite a few don't! Tense atmosphere !

Anyway did a wee short shift, didn't get a parking ticket and didn't get wet in the showers of rain!

Home to my girls, we popped into next town had some lunch at McD's and then bought a tub of thorntons fudge and that was it....had a mooch around the shops but don't need/ nothing jumped out and said buy me.

Home to my sofa ....my new favourite place in the house and sat for an hour and read my book.

Had a bath and watched Holby...how's that for multitasking?

Chats with OH and friend from home before going to work this morning.

Saw in my garden for the first time ever, a pair of starlings ...oohed and ached over them and then they were chased away by a big , bad minah bird ,who are very territorial .

    Have a lovely day :)
