Feeling bleugh :( had to have today off uni as I've got the bug that's been sweeping around the lecture hall, and am trying not to feel guilty about it, as others have been coming in (and no doubt being highly contagious) and battling on, whereas I got back yesterday, ate, went to bed and only woke up for cough mixture and painkillers every few hours!

    !

Freshers flu !!!! Hope you feel better soon. Lemon ginger and honey in hot water helps me. Hope you feel better too, Skint
DforV, I like you. You are a bit nuts ( in the nicest possible way) you a fitting right in here :) you're right about the first cuppa. Hubby brings me a cup of rooibos every morning. When he is away, I have to make my own :p
    Lovely kitchen, frith.
Chicken - your laundry issue reminds me that I must sort out my new rotaire cover before winter really sets in.
Mhags, sorry there's trouble at t'mill. Looks like they overestimated requirements
BoP, we took the money out of OHs pension a couple of years ago via a now closed loophole. Decided we were better at investing and managing it ourselves. So far, it's been a good move

    Welcome and hello new people

    Today's pleasures
1 woke up quite early but feel ok. Hoping tonight will finish jetlag once and for all this time
2 it meant I got stuff done this morning, especially given that I had to go to work early too
3 teaching went ok. Not as good as some, but. In the circumstances entirely acceptable
4 watching DS pack his rucksack for the DofE expedition tomorrow :rotfl::rotfl: trying to fit a quart into pint pot. Good old mum stepped in to rescue it. I don't know how they manage without me, I really don't
    5. Stir fry for tea , with prawns. Amazingly healthy and DS said can we have it more frequently please and that that was something he could do himself when he leaves home. Goodness, I think he's learning :T

Minging kitchen is quarter cleaned. Then just the rest of the house to go

    Ooh, HIGNFY, great.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Boooooo Gar.

BoPsie won at Scrabble. I is going to be so grumpy, apparently.

    Kittikins: Get well soon.

Sorry I’ve been a little missing in action, just not had time, work has got manic and I’ve not been getting in or to bed until late as just visiting family or visiting caravans.

1.We have locked down to a very tight budget as serious savings, I ran into Mr T tonight and checked the cash I had, a princely £7.90, and timed it just right thankfully, bread, cakes, sandwiches, a whole bag of things like strawberries, raspberries, mushrooms, lettuce and carrots all pennies, and weirdly a box of in date until 2014 thorntons marked down to £2 so that’s a Christmas present sorted, milk and it all came to the princely sum of £7.50 someone was looking out for me tonight.:o
2.Worked from home and it was much needed things are catching up with DH and I and we were shattered.:)
3.We are up early in the wee hours tomorrow on a very long journey somewhere and back again tomorrow, so may not be about again for a few days.;)
    4.Lots of animal snuggles.
    5. Left over everything went into a Stew bubbling away still, that was the reason I ran to Mr T tonight but no dumplings infact not even a space where they would have been. Just had it and I think it might have been a bit healthy and very tastey:p

Kittikins - the dratted flu - get the rest, painkillers & fluids in! (Try something with ginger?)
VJsmum - me, only "a bit nuts"? What gave you been reading? I'm a D of E mum too - bless 'em. (And us...)
Purple kitten - things going manic resonates. Ah, stew... (Drat. Hungry, again!)

Ian Hislop on HIGNFY on SpongeBob - startlingly knowledgeable. I want him for my Desert Island Luxury....

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons had a good day at school. It seems smaller son's class does drumming every Friday afternoon!

    3) Cleaned the new kitchen and mum and dad popped in to see it.

    4) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    5) Cooked marrow soup.

    6) Have watched half of HIGNFY (missed end to read Harry Potter) so will catch up with it on iplayer in a minute.

Sorry to hear that, Dundeedoll. It does sound very unexpected. Glad you will still have the chance to travel next year.

Cols/flu/shivers respond well to Twinings Lemon and Ginger tea, much nicer and more comforting than any of the over the counter remedies
Frith how smart is that kitchen! Well done you :)
DFV agreed, the first one is pure nectar. Very OS not to respond, unless there's a deathly hush that lasts for more than ten minutes ;)

    1. Yellow thing arrived 11.30am, went at lighting up time
    2. pleased to hear Mrs B won and the mog is behaving
    3. my visitors have all confirmed that the guest bed mattress is back-achey so after much searching I found a 10" deep, spring interior with built-in 3" topper at very silly money. It comes with a guarantee so I'll try it out for a couple of nights and hope it doesn't have to be returned. Imagine trying to get that in the post box!
    4. Confirmation from Cats Protection that someone will phone me when the next house visit comes in so I can go along with them. How exciting!
    5. Not at all OS but a pleasure for me anyway - sleep day. First time I've had to myself for a couple of weeks so I just had a lick and a promise, threw some clothes on and spent most of the day sleeping in the recliner.
    6. Call from DS this evening, loving his new career as an EMT (emergency medical technician, or ambulance crew), went to an elderly lady who was reported to be 93, in fact she was 83 and most indignant! Never, ever get a lady's age wrong :D (and she was fine)

    Sweet dreams :)
