    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Allowing myself a lie-in and feeling much better for it.

    2. Lots of the American crime dramas that I love on TV in the evening.

    3. Lovely cuddles with my foster cat Gizmo whilst watching TV. He's a naughty boy, but so gorgeous.

    4. Didn't go out, so a no-spend day - very MSE.

    5. Getting quite a few favourable reviews for past short stories that I've put on the Web.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Hi All - Here are my 5 from yesterday
    1. Saw a lovely brown hare running running running over the fields when we were out walking the dogs.
    2. Saw a ghostly white barn out in the evening when we were driving back down the lane.
    3. Squelching in our wellies down by the river where it had flooded in the week.
    4. Corn bread scones and pea & ham soup for supper. (All hm)
    5. Still 9.13 this morning (sorry that really boring for other people but it means so much to me to still be under control)

Raining again now but I dont care. Going for a wet run before lunch!

Morning everyone :hello: - oh dear, woke up to about 3ins of snow this morning - and it's snowed on/off ever since. Don't think it'll stay with us for long though - things are quite 'drippy' out there and it doesn't appear to be 'solid' enough to last the day.

savingforoz - wd on your nsd and brilliant about your short story reviews :j.
Megs mum - how lovely to see the hare and barn owl on your travels :) - enjoy your run running.gif.

    1. Electrician arrived with my new Electric Fire - lovely to be able to use the flame effect again - really makes a difference to how warm the room feels ;).

    2. Phone call from DS1 Friday evening to remind me that it had been his girlfriend's son's 5th birthday - all I can do to remember my own grandkids birthdays, how on earth am I supposed to remember another child as well - typical! Quick trip to Asda in the evening for present and card. Managed to pick up some really good whoopsies at the same time as it was about 9.30 when I got there - wasn't going to miss Corrie ;). Got a 'dragon fruit', lychees, apples, vine ripened tomatoes all for pennies :j.

    3. Supposed to go out with DD yesterday, but she wasn't up to a bus journey and the shops. DS1 and g/f and birthday boy were going to her house, so decided to meet up with them. Quick visit to Morrison's first - had forgotten wrapping paper . Also picked up bread finger rolls, half-doz free range eggs, boiled ham, roast beef, smartie and rolo cookies all on whoopsie; two medium loaves for £1, 2 pks of tortilla chips for 80p, value dips, jar of salsa, 2 btls of fizzy stuff for 80p and pack of tuna/pasta/sweetcorn/mayo salad. Managed to throw together a passable 'birthday tea' which earned me brownie points :j:j.

    4. Two loads of laundry done yesterday morning and another two done this morning. Yesterday's is all dry and put away and today's is on the airer and rad-rails.

    5. Boiler appears to be playing up at the moment - have had to resort to pressing a few buttons, but not 100% sure exactly what I'm doing. So far, it's worked BUT can't leave it like that. Will have to ring the Housing Trust tomorrow and have them out to it before it packs in altogether.

    6. Have put a Diced Turkey Casserole in the slow cooker this morning - including carrots, garlic, onions, leeks, parsnips, celery, tinned toms, couple of slightly shrivelled toms, mushrooms, stock cubes and dried mixed herbs. It smells delicious. Will served with mashed pots - won't need any further veg as there's QUITE enough already in it.

that's me done for now - need to go and get a shower just in case we get any visitors today - never know in this house :o. Speak again later - love Ollie xxx

    Afternoon all...

It's the day of the big date... Poor guy all this pressure and he has no idea!

So my pleasure for today so far are:

    1) Used my breadmaker for the first time - the bread is passible. The crumb is a little cakey though.

    2) Made orange cake - and going to whip up some orange icing in a minute.

    3) Gave a laundry hamper away to another freecycler that a friend gave me when she moved to Oz abut 18 months ago

    4) A friend called for a chat this morning.

5)I popped a few more things on ebay... though just realised that I have bought 3 book case doors instead of the 2 that I meant to... what am I going to do with the extra one??? I am so dozy sometimes!

    Have a good Sunday.

    Ladyhawk have a good evening

    1) up early as couldn't sleep, tea courtesy of dp before he went off to work
    2) catching up with some work while dd had a mini lie-in until 9am
    3) treating myself to Per Una sweater, we're all having a little reward due to the PPI refund
    4) dd thrilled at finding Hannah Montana gift box at M&S, her reward from PPI, dsd popped over to pick up her reward in cash :)
    5) receiving phone call from sister updating me on mum. Sister visited mum this week after visiting step-dad at home and mum told hospital she'd changed her mind and wasn't ready to go home yet. Social worker and occupational therapist both adamant it was agreed mum being discharged this week (insert rude word here :(). Sister thankfully having none of that told them we agreed to nothing. Mum is still in hospital, and when discharged will be monitored, then return to hospital to be reassessed after four days. We're all sure that going home is the worst option, and I'm hoping this will highlight any issues early on.

    Hi all

Thanks for kind words and prayers for my cousin, I called her to give her my wishes for a good resolution of the op and told her that I had mobilised a great bunch of people online to send her positive vibes and prayers and she was delighted!

I haven't posted since Thursday so here are a few day's worth of pleasures:

    Friday

1 - Osteopath appointment, everything is getting better and I won't need to see him for at least another month.

2 - Free wash and blow-dry as a model in a Blackheath salon, I was delighted by the results and they invited me to go back every Monday and Friday so the girl would have different opportunities to try other shapes on me - can't wait! Then she will need haircut models (also free) and I shall be first in line!

3 - Friday, no work at all, after the blowdry I did morsbags all afternoon with a couple of friends.

4 - Friday night, curry night with the frozen leftovers from DH birthday celebration evening.

5 - Method cleaning vouchers (2 x £1) in the post. I like Method very much, it is environmentally safe and cleans really well.

    Saturday

1 - Breakfast of porridge and tea in bed courtesy of DH - the best porridge maker south of Adrian's Wall!

2 - Shopping outing with my friend, followed by cup of tea and chat.

3 - Good hard work in the front garden, managed to clear it ready for March planting. Looks so much tidier, too!

4 - Quiet evening in front of the TV, that had been broken for a few days and has just been fixed (for free) by the cable engineer.

5 - Pasta with broccoli, garlic and chilli for dinner. DS commented how this is his favourite pasta dish.

    Today:

1 - Uninterrupted night sleep (first night of on-call for expectant mother!).

2 - Extremely long lie-in reading my magazine.

3 - DD made chickpeas and pasta soup for lunch but jazzed it up with veg from our front garden (from yesterday's clearing job), turmeric and chilli. It was really special!

4 - Afternoon in front of the computer catching up with emails and news.

5 - Looking forward to tonight's dinner of stir fry tofu veg and rice, with green thai sauce bought for DS's chicken but he is willing to share (mighty of him LOL).

    Good night all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

  • Good evening everyone
1,Treated myself to a new cake tin in wilkos and resisted everything else so only spent £3 in there.:T
2,Not a bit os but had lunch out as me dh and dd1 had gone away shopping as dd1 had to get pressies for her 2 sons birthdays in march.I was good and had a £3.99 pub special, just a shame they didn't:(
3,Stocked up on cards in the card factory,I have ones for every occasion in a drawer so I don't get caught out and have to pay at least £1.50 for one locally:mad:
4,Already bought my grandsons pressies on line so just looked in horror at the prices in toys r us.
5,I'm making their birthday cakes so I splashed out a couple of £ on edible ben 10 and george pig cake toppers on ebay, that way they get themed cakes at a fraction of the cost of buying them.Going to get a twillight one for dd2 birthday in may as a surprise but I don't think we'll want to cut it.;)
