    Good morning everyone!

I'm feeling rather less irritable this morning so I thought I'd pop in and have a quick catch-up.

Bella - I hope your aunt recovers quickly from her breakages.

Kittikins - I really hope your back feels better today - that sounds really painful.

Carolyntia - I'm glad you got your tooth fixed. I'm really jealous of your feathered and furred visitors: I don't get a bad selection for a city garden but you definitely get more in the country - my parents live on the edge of a nature reserve so I regularly have to listen enviously to what they get in their garden :(.

ACEY - my thoughts are with you for next week. I hope all goes well - I've got my fingers crossed for no more snow for a few days.

Ollie - I'm glad the funeral went OK, and I'm glad sparrer laughed at your description of the parking chaos too - I wasn't sure it was really appropriate but you did make me smile! :rotfl:

savingforoz - glad your sniffles are better.

Right, I must go and shut some windows - I opened them all as the sun's out but it's decidely chilly now, and the cat's shivering and giving me reproachful looks. I'll be back later - have a nice day, everyone. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • Thanks savingforoz, we're still shell-shocked as it was completely unexpected
Sorry for the mix up Ollie and sparrer, thanks so much for all your advice and support
Mr Lahey oh is a SAHD and has spent half term with dd(5), he can't wait for Monday and five minutes peace. She's sitting in front of the Hannah Montana movie right now and has promised to watch it all the way through (yeah right) :)

    1. New season "The Mentalist" - I don't normally go for blonde men, but Simon Baker could tempt me, oh yes, he could...:D

I know what you mean - there is a definite PHWOAR factor with him. Don't know what it is but he is rather lovely...:blushing:

Hi all, hugs to all that need them.

    Here's mine:

    1. Being over my grocery budget but still well over £100 lower than last month :o

    2. The sun shining

    3. Playing with my mum's cats yesterday - been having dreams about my dad and was sitting in my mum's house getting a bit upset thinking about my dad and the cats always know somethings wrong :) I miss having cats :o

    4. Someone visiting a lakeland shop (45 mins drive away) and asking if I wanted anything :rotfl: half the shop please!!!! :D Saves on delivery fees ;)

    5. Already done two lots of washing this morning so just one more left and the washbin will be empty - for 5 minutes!

    6. Baking a ginger cake for friends - love baking but my hips are feeling the effects so she said I can always bake a cake for her :D

    7. OH going to do a quote for a job today, that's 4 possible bits of work - fitting a worktop, bathroom tiling, possibly fitting a new kitchen and leveling a concrete kitchen floor. He's not the type to sit about as he gets very irritable so at least he'll be kept busy - money will be a bonus though :D

    8. Wore my £5 charity shop coat this morning, very warm and comfy.

Sparrer - are you allowed to count the £114 in your turn £100 into £10,000 total?.

I hadn't thought of that house elf, I suppose I would be as the 'rules' are flexible to suit everyone's circumstances. I put away what I won on BingoBritain (£5 investment, the other £5 is for the first car boot entrance), and every time I get a freebie I put the equivalent cash in as well. I'd like to put in the £114 but it wasn't part of my start money and don't have that much in cash so I'm not actually counting it in my goal of £1k. It's a good idea for anyone who can though :)

    Evening all

Ollie - it didnt last long, my ironing basket is full again now!!! Looks like i will be busy tomorrow!!!

Pepsimax62 - my dh has train sets for the kids and wants to make papermache trees and mountains instead of buying them! I told him he could make them with the kids one day (he doesnt like mess!!!!) :rotfl:

    Mine for today -

1 Popping into asda for the £2 chickens and finding a bottle of wine reduced to £1.50. Dh is at football today (in the company box drinking company beer) so I will have a glass when kids go to bed!

2 Joining the no spend (except milk) on food for 7 days challenge. My cupboards and fridge/freezer are full and even though i have gone over budget this month i have still not spent as much as i used to and i have enough food to last a month i think!!! :D

3 Cleaned kitchen, patio and had a nice long conversation with little rabbit foo foo whilst cleaning his cage out! the neighbours must think i am mad!! :p

4 Having a very bristolian conversation on facebook today. I posted on my status in 'bristolian' and got replies back in 'bristolian'. So funny!!! I have dug out my old bristle dictionary for my mate up here as she just looks at me like i have 3 heads sometimes when i speak!

5 as dh is at football i have let the kids choose a film and we popped some popcorn in the popcorn maker (which went mad and started firing at me!) and will let them have a bit of a late night.

Off to start another teddy as the red sparkly one i have just finished still doesnt look right to me! my house is going to be overrun by sparkly teddies soon!! :rotfl:

    Evening all.

    Here's my five for today:

    1) It's been a nice sunny day so I washed some sheets and got them outside to air for most of the day.

    2) Finally managed to get the recycling out of my flat - there's one bin between 16 flats and you've got to pick your time - it's been full the last few times I've tried to get stuff in there.

    3) Had a nice OS afternoon - mooched down to the cathedral to see if their crocuses are out (they are, but they'll be better in a few days) and then on to the city museum (free entry) -to look at the new display of old rock n roll photos (well worth seeing if you're in Portsmouth over the next few months).

    4) It was quite a long walk so I can have chish and fips for dinner without feeling too guilty (although my legs are now reminding me that I haven't done much walking over the past few months :o).

    5) I've done a load of surveys today - I reckon at least another £5 worth for my collection.

    Have a nice evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine today... the furbabes were having a great time sitting in the warm sun in the lounge this afternoon.

    1) There are some wonderful people in this world. The lovely lady that gave me my new table dropped it off for me this morning. She and her DH even carried it up my stairs and offered to put it back together for me!!

    2) Put a few bits and bobs on freecycle and ebay... hopefully they will be taken.

    3) Took my broken washing machine door into the shop and they replaced it for only £10! Bargain since a new one would have been £28.

    4) My vaccum cleaner is working perfectly - the engineer just taking it to peices seems to have done the trick. I don't think it has ever worked as well as it does now.

    5) Popped into the library and got 5 new books. So am looking forward to reading them.

    6) Listening to the radio for most of the day. There was a Blur special which was really good.

    7) cleaned the oven. Something that I have been meaning to do for ages.

    8) Watched the ladies downhill skiing - OMG!!!! They are so amazing. Get's me in the mood for my holiday in less than 2 weeks!

Have a really lovely evening, and enjoy tomorrow!
