    Evening everyone,

House Elf - We didn't get to see the ministry of food part at the Imperial War Museum. I can feel a trip coming on one day on my own not in the school holidays. Thank you for the tip on the Florence Nightingale Museum will try that one next time.

    My five for today:
    1. Quiet hour to read this morning
    2. DD out with friends all day so got to spend the day just me and OH.
    3. Easy dinner of beans on toast with sauages
    4. Bought two jumpers in the sale which were 70% off and buy one get one free:money:
    5. Another load of washing done and dried over the rads.

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening everybody

Ladyhawk/savingforoz - Hope you two realise that we ALL want ALL the details on Monday morning - or no more 'Late Night Passes' for either of you ;).
Megs mum - How lovely of you to keep smiling at 'grumpy dog walking man' - it's oh-so-easy to be friendly to those who are friendly back to us - maybe yours is the brightest smile in his day. Fingers crossed that he can find one to share back. Good luck to your friend with her newly-found uncle.
bella - Safe journey and hope you find your Aunt in good spirits. I've just had a 94yr old who's 'bounced back' (literally) from a broken pelvis at Christmas - wtg on the 'HM Ready Meals'.
lilmisskitkat - sounds like you AND your dgk's are really enjoying half-term :).
elizabunny - Good Luck to your DS for his sponsored run this weekend - and hope you and your OH enjoy your weekend away together.
Ladyhawk - wtg on all the PR you've been doing :T. :rotfl: at the close-call on the motorway ;).
CCP - sorry you're feeling 'out of sorts' but well done you on apologising to the C/S lady after realising that it's the store that's in the wrong not HER. Have to admit that's one job I would absolutely HATE - they carry the can for so much that firms do wrong. Good Luck with the Ploughman's Sausage Roll experiment .
Kittikins - How lovely for you and your DD to be reunited again at your mum's house. Be very careful of your back when you get your sewing machine. Those things can sometimes be very heavy to lift onto a table - mine weighs a ton .
wogglemaker - keep safe on the ice/snow. Wd on your bargains and on the Mediterranean Beef Stew.
nuttybabe - lol at playing 'I Spy' with dk's - always good for a laugh with very young ones :rotfl:. wd on the (temporary) emptying of the ironing basket HSiron.gif.
GirlySquare - Hope all is well with your mum when you hear back from your sister. Wtg on your financial plusses - what a day. Get that Lottery ticket bought quick while you're on a winning streak - these things come in three's you know :j:j!
Carolynita - ooooooh I bet that 'tooth gap' feels much better after having the piece of bone removed . Most of the birds around here are seagulls and crows with the occaional starling and blackbird.
ACEY - wd to you and the boys for getting their room sorted out and on the bargain trip to Frankie and Benny's. Hope all goes well for the funeral on Monday - maybe the Quiz Evening is exactly what you'll need as a distraction afterwards :). Fingers crossed for the court hearing - your ex has only himself to blame if he's put back to 'supervised contact'.
Tealady - great bargains on the sweaters :j.

    Mine for yesterday and today:

    1. Managed to get three loads of laundry washed/dried on airers and rad rails including 2 sets of bathroom mats.

    2. Couple of lovely visits from DS2 and dgs2&3 while his g/f is sleeping (night shifts).

    3. Meeting up with new tenants who are in the process of moving in to their new homes - looking forward to getting to know them better :).

    4. Baked 2 Banana, Walnut and Sultana Loaves - DS2 couldn't wait and just HAD to have a couple of pieces before they'd cooled down properly.

    5. Today's funeral went off quite well - even if all the mourners had made a right mess of parking their cars along both sides of our cul-de-sac. The Hearse had to reverse in while 'slaloming' between the cars on either side. Some of us had offered the temporary use of our driveways for them to park in AND there's a carpark at the rear of a block of flats - but oh no, they thought they knew best. Then there were a few crazy moments while they all had to drive to bottom of the cul-de-sac, turn their cars around and come back out again to join the procession. It was like one of those kiddies puzzles where you slide pieces around to re-arrange a picture ;).

    6. Have managed to spend some more time on my family tree. After my mum 'found' dad's original birth certificate and adoption papers last weekend, I've now found out a bit more about his birth mother who died just after he was born AND his father's re-marriage. He was adopted by his mum's sister, so all the remaining family tree still stands, which makes research much easier.

I'm heading off for bed now - going out with DD tomorrow for a child-free day :j:j:j. Oooooooh somewhere civilised for lunch (instead of McD's) AND a decent coffee shop.

Nitey nite all and HSrosehugs2.giffor all who need them - love Ollie xxx

    Watcha!

    1. made a menu change gamble - i.e upped the portion size marginally but also upped the price per unit......and it paid off big time- happy eaters so to speak!:T
2.scrapped yesterdays risotto which did not sell due to said menu changes:( BUT saved on dog food :)

    3. left the cafe at 6 rather than 9pm thus brownie points with OH.

4.swapped a dead battery (i left my lights on) bump start with a promise of a bacon butty in morning which saved having to call OH to come and rescue me!

    5. just found a cornetto in freezer when i thought i had eaten them all!
    :silenced:
I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll

GirlySquare it was Ollie who asked about your s-dad seeing things. My initial reaction was UTI which can cause confusion/hallucinations but as he's been seeing them for a while there may well be another underlying cause. Hope Mum is okay and you got a good report from your sister
Ollie you cracked me up with your description of the cars shuffling about in the cul-de-sac, you painted the perfect picture of a slapstick comedy :rotfl:. Have a great girlie day out tomorrow
Woohoo Ladyhawk, photos and films - do we have a star in our midst? Can I have your autograph? :D
Carolyntia your home sounds in a beautiful setting with so much wildlife on your doorstep - literally! I live in a rural area but there are three private airfields close by so most of the birds I see have engines. Lovely in the summer though, it's like having an air show free of charge.
You're in my thoughts ACEY especially on Monday and Tuesday :)

    My five -

    1. Postie brought me a trial of age defying moisturiser to use for the next couple of weeks. I haven't told them but it's going to take a heck of a lot longer than that!
    2. Parcel post brought me a ginormous can of hair spray to trial
    3. Seems my efforts on the freebie board may be coming to fruition, I got an email telling me I'm going to receive a full size fabric softener :D
    4. Bought the car insurance I found the other day, includes DD as a driver and breakdown cover. With cashback it's £114 less than last year!:T
    5. A beautiful sunny day, warm enough to have all the windows open...so different sfter waking up yesterday t o snow on the ground.

    Night night (((hugs)))everybody, sweet dreams

    Morning All.

Ollie - Thanks for the link to the bus museum. Could be a destination for a trip up to DM, if she could be pursuaded! She loves her routine of Albert Dock & Liverpool 1. (Sometimes we try to spice it up with a wander round the Tate, but she just sulks. Though she doesn't mind the Maritime Museum!)

Sparrer - are you allowed to count the £114 in your turn £100 into £10,000 total?

This is the point in the school hols where I have a massive panic, as I haven't ticked enough things off my list, haven't spent enough time with the kids and haven't done any school work!

    5 for yesterday

    1. Trip to town with DD to spend our Telegaph vouchers in Body shop. She has lots of friends with birthdays in April, so we got 4 little gift sets and a lip brush for £3.50! (Still got 2 left so I will pop back today to get 2 more for the present box). That was a good investment! (£10 spent getting vouchers converted to £35 of stuff:money:).
    2. Central heating still not right, so had BG out again:eek: Another 2 hours head scratching etc seems to have solved it, and didn't charge any extra:) This Homecare deal is turning out to be a bargain:money:
    3. Shopping this afternoon. Coop for lots of £2 Ben and Jerrys and lots of YS. Mr T for voucher shopping. (Got £10 off the bill). :money:
    4. Invited friends for dinner. Easy Nigella express Italian chicken thingy, wine and nice conversation. :)
    5. Happy that my efforts on using the freezer, home baking and voucher shopping have halved the shopping bill this week. Hooray :j

Have a lovely day all! HE xXx
    3.
  • 5) receiving a letter from Northern Rock offering £4380.27 in full and final settlement of PPI mis-selling claim, totally out of the blue! Enough to almost clear the remaining loan just £180 remaining to pay, just the credit cards left to clear now :T
Girlysquare, that is fantastic news!! (and hello from a fellow Bristolian!)

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. New season "The Mentalist" - I don't normally go for blonde men, but Simon Baker could tempt me, oh yes, he could...:D

    2. Short day at work - we finish at 4pm on a Friday. Always good! :j

    3. Getting groceries for next week and realising that I am going to smash the February grocery challenge to smithereenies - yay!
    4. Feeling better about my mild bout of the sniffles.

    5. Yummy chickpea and mushroom curry with brown rice, and lots of it, for tea. When I first made it, I didn't think it was that great, but the flavours have improved with time, as happens with curry, and it was delish.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Moring everybody :hello: - lovely bright, sunny day so far - fingers crossed that it stays this way .

tabskitten - wd on re-jigging your menu - sometimes things need a little shake-up in the catering business to keep the customers interested. Sorry to hear that your risotto didn't sell, but I bet the dog's happy ;).
sparrer - wd on your trials and freebies :T and wtg on that great car insurance deal :j.
house elf - If your mum likes museums etc, have you ever been to this place: - http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/conservation/visit/. It's on the corner of Whitechapel/Crosshall Street facing the side of Yates' Wine Lodge on Hood Street. Don't beat yourself up about what you haven't been able to do with the kids in the school hols - I'm sure you give them lots of your time/attention. Can the kids do something creative at home while you get on with some lesson planning/school work?
savingforoz - wd on beating the Feb Grocery Challenge :T!

Oh well time I headed for the shower, or else I'll be going out with soaking wet hair :(.

Bye for now - speak again later - love Ollie xxx

Never have i wanted to go back to work more than i did yesterday. School 1/2 term started out great but by yesterday (Fri) my kids had argued about everything imaginable, constant bickering and sniping. I am telling you, my daughter could start an argument in a room on her own.

So............. My 5 from the yesterday/today:

    1. Kids are going back to school on Monday - I know it might sound nasty, but believe me for all our sanity they need some quality time apart!
    2. My son played his first Rugby game of the new year and scored 4 tries getting Man of the Match for both his and the away team.
3 . Was a bit down last night after a few drinks so went and bought a £550 Netbook off Amazon - Realised this morning i didn't actually want or need it so cancelled the order - Thank goodness for the sale of goods act!
    4. I agreed to go out tonight earlier in the week with a friend, all week ive been hoping i wouldn't hear from him again - I haven't :D
    5. Renewed all our passports and had all three of them back in a total of three weeks, even though the guy did knock me up at half seven this morning for a signature.

The kids have done my head in over this last week, but not more than they have done each others heads in. It really does amaze me how they can be so close and genuinely be best friends but argue and fight so much!

Have a great weekend (what's left of it) everyone :)
