Hi all, hope everyone poorly is feeling a bit better and hugs to all those who don't ;)

    1. Having a lazy morning coz it was raining and I didn't want to go out.
    2. Going out to get shopping and pick up my charity shop coat from the cleaners and only having to wait 5 mins for the bus home.
    3. A lovely older lady in the dry cleaners opening the door for me as I had all my shopping too - very sweet and doesn't happen very often in the city I live in.
    4. Defrosting a pancake I made and froze with left over yorkies batter (new 30cm, £9.99 lidl frying pan) and eating it with choc spread and banana - and it being nice (haven't been very successful at pancakes for a while).
    5. Still having a full freezer - even if my HM soup looked like thick gruel and went in the bin :(
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

    Hi Everyone!

Savingforoz - sorry you have caught the sneezes now. It was red noses not red roses for Valentines day in our house!:o

Ollie - The bus museum is just outside Birmingham. I use the term 'Museum' looseley. (It's really, just a place where lots of bus geeks store their big toys). Of course it was closed for half term....:rotfl:We had a play date at our house instead.

    Yesterdays 5

    1. Lie in until 7am. I don't sleep well, but was so tired after going up and down ladders with the window blinds and cleaning the windows, that I slept really well for once:T
    2. Made Banana muffins for the play date and they turned out really well. V popular with the boys, and I sent them home with the last 4 to save my hips:o
    3. DS2 played v nicely with his friends and I had lovely chat with their mummy who I don't see v often now I work FT:(.
    4. Ebay bargains arrived in the post. So exciting and :money:
    5. Went to see Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief. 2for1 Orange wed. Took our own nibbles. Great family entertainment. My kind of film:)

Got to go as DH and DD due back from work and need feeding.

Will do todays later. Have a lovely evening. HE x

    Hi all

Thank you very much for all your kind words re. my good mammogram. I am feeling so relieved and now every time I see myself in the mirror, instead of going "YUCKKKK" and thinking negative comments about my body, I thank it for being healthy. At the moment all this is causing difficult feelings in me because next Tuesday my dear cousin will be operated to have a breast removed after some lumps were found malignant. Please pray for her. Thank you. I did not even have the courage to tell my aunt (her mother) my good news.

Anyway, here are my pleasures for the day:

1 - Good aerobics workout at my usual Thursday class, and not too crowded.

2 - Asked for a book for DS in the Blackheath library and they told me it was checked in Lewisham so I went there and found it straight away.

3 - Still in Lewisham, bought a lovely Turkish bread that all the family loves (seeded pide). Really tasy and incredibly cheap!

4 - Home, had lunch of celery salad (the rest of the family hates celery so it is up to me to finish the ones I get in the veg box) and a tin of mackerel in tomato sauce (still trying to eat healthily and resigning myself that I cannot make the vegan thing stick, unfortunately). No bread, as I had demolished half the pide on my way back home on the bus!

5 - Got down to work and managed to get a lot done.

6 - Lentils and barley cooked itself while I worked so dinner now is nearly ready.

7 - Chickpeas in soak for tomorrow dinner.

Have a good evening all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Not really a pleasures day today as we've been to a funeral, a dear old lady of 90some, who was remotely related to us by marriage. But:-

    1. We saw a lot of old friends.

    2. We had a nice buffet lunch.

    3. Did the weekend shop early as we may be going away tomorrow and somehow spent £20 less than usual. Perhaps because I didn't have so long to think about it.

    4. Made a yummy cottage pie from very little beef.

    5. Heavy snow tonight has grounded us so I can stay at home and do some more of my 'ripple' crochet blanket.

    Bella.

A warm welcome to all new posters.

Ollie glad you're back and that you had a lovely time with your family
sparrer thank you for your kind words, and for the good advice
Caterina great news about your mammogram result!

Here are mine been away at conference:

    Tuesday
    1) auntie discovered step-dad received £400 cold weather payment in November and £75 in January due to drop in temperature so should be able to afford to have heating on. Hoping this will help care team make the right decision.
    2) sisters visited step-dad and found house full of junk and needs to be cleared. Step-dad going on about poltergeists and burglars. Sister told care team that if mum went home it would be a death trap. Mum has told the hospital that she doesn't want to go home as it's too much. Been away will get an update from sister/auntie tomorrow.
    3) manic day at work prior to conference, managed to get all priority tasks done, phew!
    4) stayed over at colleague's house, meal out listening to her getting worries about work/life balance off her chest
    5) back to house, cup of tea and catching up on emails before bed

    Yesterday
    1) arrived at conference venue 8am, suited and booted :)
    2) meeting colleagues and customers I rarely see, putting faces to names and having a good long chat
    3) practising networking skills from a workshop I attended a few months ago
    4) good presentations, workshops and food!
    5) Black tie dinner was brilliant, male voice choir, good speaker, great food. Having a great laugh with the guys on my table, danced the night away. Dragged ourselves away at 2am and the party was still in full swing :)

    Today
    1) enjoying a cooked breakfast at Premier Inn
    2) up and at 'em arrived day two at 8am(!)
    3) excellent keynote speech from Kriss Akabusi really motivational guy, it was brilliant watching him winning World Championships 4x400 metre relay gold in Tokyo in 1991 again with his own personal commentary, lol!
    4) getting a 'photo with Kriss, just waiting for colleague to email it to me from their mobile (fingers crossed) he was surprised when he checked in at 1:30am this morning to find that the party was just starting to get going(!)
    5) more networking, hoping to get to more of these events in future

Hoping to hear more about mum over the weekend. Off to sit in bed and watch Mock The Week. Night all.

  • Good evening everyone

1,I'm mainly a stay at home gran to dgd7 and dgs1 and 3 as dd1 is training to be a nurse, but I try and fit cleaning jobs in when I can.I started a new 1 today, private house cleaned it from top to bottom and did some ironing and she gave me £60 and she wants me once a week so I'm well pleased.
2,Tweaked my online order once again, get a delivery once a month as we live in a small rural town ,asda is the only one who'll deliver here.Tesco will only deliver if you drive 12 miles to meet thier van,as if.:rotfl:
    3,Made soup and bread.
4,Hung clothes all over house to dry,I have a washer drier but the drier leaves the clothes smelling yuk even if I use a td sheet. With no ch either it can be a right pain getting them dry.
5,Looked at asda order again, have I the willpower to knock wine off my order, could save £15 bringing it down to £80 but will I cope without my nightly glass of wine.I think I'll sleep on it.:D

    Hello everyone

    Here's my five:

    1) Woke up five minutes before my alarm did this morning - I've been feeling really tired recently and struggling to wake up, so I hope this means I'm getting over that. (I woke up from a dream about making chicken stock - I think I'm spending too much time on this forum! :o)

    2) Got the free chicken I spent my £15 veg box company voucher on (well, some of the voucher, anyway) - it's a huge chicken and will provide lots of meals, plus my favourite chicken and veg soup. :)

    3) HM curry for lunch. It had lost most of its spiciness from sitting in the freezer, but still tasted good.

    4) One of my evening classmates recommended a jewellery supply company that should be able to supply the fittings I need so I can finally finish the earrings I started making late last year.

    5) Came home to refried beans and cheese on toast - sounds a bit odd, I know, but it's one of my favourites.

    Have a nice evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!
