Thanks, savingforoz, for your comment about rude Topshop teenager - I really did not even take any offence, being so used to being surrounded by teenagers (thanks God no longer, now, they are all grown and turned quite civilised!) I know how obnoxious and unthinking they can be.

Really I just complained with the hope of getting a voucher or a credit note - alas, fat chance! LOL
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all. Mine for today:

    1) Ducks and cockerel in for breakfast and dinner.
    2) Having a great day at work and getting some difficult stuff done....I work with a lovely bunch of lads and they're always willing to help.
    3) Getting my Cath Kidston messenger bag in the post....little treat to myself. :j
    4) Seeing three of my local friends to wave madly at....don't see them that often but it's always great when I do
    5) Finding that the local funeral directors/hardware/knitware store (think of the two ronnies fork handles sketch) isn't closing completely. Will stay as a funeral directors but the hardware and knitware are moving to other local shops - you can find everything in there! :rotfl:
    6) Looking around my house and thinking - nope I don't need anything - just happy with what I've got :D
    7) No spend day
As my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'

Not a bad day, got lots done.

    1. Had a NSD and so stayed home and did those things I was putting off.

    2. made bunting from offcut of baby fabric for baby shower and invites with the rubber stamp that cost me a quid.

    3. watched hubby make improvements to chicken house, well he had to fix the door cos I broke it. We now have recycled fancy handles on the doors so I can open it more easily - posh or wot !

    4. Woke up early to feed chickens and my arthritis seems to have gone away for a while, this latest flare up has lasted 3 weeks.

    5. The house is feeling really cosy now after new windows( took a couple of days to reheat the house after the work) and when I sat down for a coffee I felt the difference, no breeze whistling round my shoulders. Maybe thats why Im feeling better, sleeping in a bedroom with no wind factor!

  • Welcome to all Newbies. I'm afraid I've been AWOL for a couple of days due to grandchildren staying and then the computer threw a wobbly.

However, here are a few of my pleasures:-

    1. Pancakes for the children, not made pancakes for years.

    2. Staying at home yesterday, we had planned an outing but DH (the driver) had to work. DGS said 'We don't have to go out when we come to Nannie's we come to Nannie's to be at Nannie's - so at Nannie's we stayed.

    3. Making Rice Krispie nests with the children.

    4. DGS helped DH to strip some wallpaper.

    5. Making a peg doll with DGD.

    6. Making shell boxes with both children.

    7. A visit to the cinema, not sure this is OS and it certainly isn't MS but we did take our own drinks and nibbles.

    8. Reclaiming the house after we had taken the children home.

    9. Making a lemon drizzle traybake with lemon left over from pancakes.

    10. A lovely sit down now the house is quiet again.

    Bella.

    Hi all

Edited to add a massive pleasure - unquantifiable!:

Just got my mammogram results and it is clear, THANK YOU GOD!!!
Caterina - this is great news

    Mine for today:
    1. Feeling almost human today and had a full nights sleep
    2. Shopping trip with DD to Kingston as she needed some new jeans, she seems to be growing all the time at the moment but managed to buy some for £6.
    3. Free chocolate sample while out shopping, yummy
    4. Little nap this afternoon
    5. Roast chicken for dinner with yorkshire puddings washed down with a lovely glass of wine

Hugs to all who need or want them

    1. Enjoying a snooze with the radio after my alarm went off and a stretch in bed because DH leaves at an ungodly hour on Wednesdays.
    2. A clear run into work this morning - one two-mile stretch took a whole hour longer this time alst week! Half term makes an incredible difference on the last stretch.
    3. Managing to find a car park I hadn't used before. It's quite a walk into work (past a few too many bakeries!) but only costs £1 a day, saving me £15 a week!
    4. Asking another lady in the car park if there was a 'back way' out of town, without me having to join the massive queue of traffic the way I'd come in. She gave me a tip and I actually managed to take that part way then use my sense of direction to cut even more out.
    5. Getting home to find DH had already started to cook tea.

I hope everyone's ok. Was it Caterina that had fab news? I've been thinking of you and yours in particular Acey ... I hope that time is healing.
  • Congrats Caterina on your result. What a relief

    My five lovelies for today:

    1. We had TV on even less than usual and I just became conscious of the quiet sounds. I could hear the clock ticking and birds outside.
    2. Used my timer for a 4 minute shower (instead of my usual leisurely mega-minutes) and realised that I didn't feel deprived, but quite enjoyed focussing on the time I did have. Smug money-saving:)
    3. Crocheted some more little squares to make a throw. I can almost do them without thinking now, so very relaxing.
4.Nice thinking time to plan my baking tomorrow. Two cakes and two loaves if all goes well.
    5. I love my long discussions with hubby. We're both quite intense and on the same wavelength. I'm so happy that we get lots of time for these as we both work part-time.

Good wishes to all. I hope your days are filled with OS fun and blessings:A

jexygirl - I'm not sure whether to wish I lived near your place or be glad I don't - your game casserole sounds so nice I'd probably end up in their for lunch far too frequently!

Caterina - that's fantastic news about your result. :j

    My five for today:

    1) Pancakes for breakfast. They weren't fantastic (scotch pancake batter apparently doesn't appreciate being left in the fridge overnight), but they made a nice change to my usual porridge.

    2) Lovely warm day today - I walked back from the shops at lunchtime with my coat undone, for the first time this year. :)

    3) Found the fourth book of a series of which I greatly enjoyed the first (if you follow me!) in a charity shop for £3.50, then went on the internet to get parts two and three for £2, with the balance coming from my points for doing surveys. :money:

    4) My colleague who's leaving bought everyone a cupcake to celebrate her last day; I got one with yellow icing as everyone knows that's my favourite colour.

    5) Having full storecupboards. I decided I really didn't fancy the planned curry for dinner, and a bit of digging around and improvising produced tuna melt enchiladas - a slightly odd combination but not un-tasty.

Hugs to everyone who's ill or otherwise feeling under the weather.
Back after a very long break!
  • Evening all,

Feeling tired and very thirsty (naughty thing haven't drunk enough today). Right then:

    1. Speaking to lots of work friends today, its good to catch up.
    2. Having a stash of food in my drawer at work to keep me going.
    3. Having a fresh walk this afternoon.
    4. Jacket potatoes for tea/dinner/supper, something really simple about them isnt there.
    5. Back rub from my loved one.

    Night all.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

 Fab thread: Long daily walks
