    Evening all,

My dear furbabes decided to wake me up, not once, but twice last night.... grrrr.... no wonder I am so tired! Added to the fact that I had a manic day in the office and was on the phone for 4 hours solid this morning.

    So my pleasures were:

    1) Taking a slice of my orange drizzle cake into work for a snack. It was yummy and helped get through the day.

    2) Picked up a gorgeous white coat on freecycle which looks as if it will fit me perfectly once it has warmed uo slightly.

    3) Collected my nearly new breadmaker that a lovely lady gifted to me on Freecycle (told you I was addicted!)

    4) Came home to a yummy beef stew in the slow cooker. Just what I needed after sitting stationary on the M1 for half an hour.

    5) Got a message on freecycle that someone wants me to gift me a twice used Kenwood Chef.... I'm in heaven. I have wanted one for so long and just couldn't bring myself to cough up the cash.

Need to get my beauty sleep tonight in preparation for filming tomorrow.

    Night night...

    L

    My 5 for today:

    1. Feeling better, and fairly sure that I just have a sniffle and it won't develop into a cold.

    2. Chatting online and making a date for Sunday with a guy from the dating website. There's a couple more potential ones on there as well.

    3. More of my delicious lentil pate for lunch and savoury tofu loaf for tea. So many of my pleasures revolve around food...:D

    4. Getting to grips with doing more on my current short story - it needs a lot of work and may well be the most difficult one I've done yet, as it deals with some difficult themes (infidelity, forgiveness etc) but I'm hoping that will be a good learning curve.

    5. Belated one this, but I was delighted to read Caterina's news about her mammogram results. Priceless - so pleased for you, hun xx

    Hi, Back again!

Tealady - did you pick up any OS tips from the rationing exhibition at the Imperial War Museum? :D Thats what I call a museum. Open during half term too! Have you been to the Florence Nightingale museum close by? I really like that one too. The kids enjoyed doing the quiz and I just thought it was facinating. What a woman!

    My 5 for today

    1. Up at 5am to give DD a lift to work. Drove back just as it was getting light. Happy that the days are drawing out.:)
    2. Trip to IKEA with best friend for brunch. 99p :money:and gossip.
    3. Continued on to charity superstore at Cannock for clothes shopping. I have saved my Xmas and birthday money for this trip. Typical! could only find stuff for DH and kids!:( Still I love shopping and everyone liked what I found for them.

    4. Curry night tonight. Made from leftovers, so virtually free dinner. Yum:T
    5. Walk in the snow with DH and daft dog who kept eating the snow!

    Tired now! Night.:)

Excellent news Caterina, sorry I didn't mention it yesterday but I was just about asleep when I posted and didn't read anything. A lovely feeling of relief for you. But I was so sorry to hear about your cousin, she's in my thoughts and prayers
Congrats Megs mum, doesn't that 1lb take you to a whole different level :D (I was there once lol)
Have a good weekend Bella, hope the snow doesn't stop you going away and enjoying yourselves
No wurries GirlySquare we help each other, there will be someone who can perhaps advise me one day with something I need to know but have no knowledge of. Pay it forward :D. Sounds like your Mum has her head screwed on right, the house has to be safe for her.
I envy you pepsimax, I used to look after my DGC but they're older now and don't need Grandma around. Still see tham as much as I can though and the youngest often spends her weekends with me :)
Did your frost turn to snow Ollie? It rained here all day so I didn't think this evening's snow would settle but it has, a little bit. Hope it's not too bad for you, and everyone, this time

    My 5 -

    1. Staying in today so a nsd. Not doing so well this month, only 9 so far :(
    2. Changing the bedding, it's in the machine now to take advantage of econ7
    3. Spending time looking through all the freebie and comp posts and having a field day - if they all turn up I'm going to need a bigger house but there's lots of potential Chrissie pressies there :D
4.The Amaryllis I gave DM at Christmas is 29" tall, has 2 stems (Siamese twins?) and 8 flowers on it! :T
    5. Sitting snug and warm in my bed with my laptop, a mug of tea and a banana, knowing it's freezing out there ;)

Night night (((hugs))) everyone, sleep tight

Evening everybody  - very damp and 'drippy' here tonight - but at least there's no wind or snow :T.

newlywed - shame about your HM Soup - my worst soup disaster was following a different recipe for a batch of Leek and Potato and it including 3 cloves of garlic. OH ate his, but when offered a 2nd bowl, he declined it :rotfl:. I was sooooo annoyed about the waste of the leeks . wd on your pancakes :T.
house elf - shame about the museum trip - I thought you may have meant THIS place - though again, it doesn't appear to be open during school holidays. Very self-restrained of you to send the boys home with the last four Banana Muffins ;). Really noticing the lengthening days now as well .
Tealady - Great day out AND managed to use a voucher for a meal :j.
Caterina - sorry to hear about your cousin - sending thoughts and prayers for her. Wd on giving the veganism a good effort - maybe it's just NOT for you. Veggie just has to be easier to manage - no point in beating yourself up with pangs of guilt and you're certainly not a failure.
bella - shame about the elderly relative's funeral, but how lovely to meet up with other people who knew her and be able to share memories. Great budget shop there and hope the snow doesn't hang around too long.
nuttybabe - wd on your bargain pressies :T
Carolynita - looks like your feathered friends are spreading the word about the 'Breakfast Menu' at your place ;) - wd on your recycling efforts :j.
GirlySquare - great conference meeting you had there - we had Kriss Akabusi for our Staff Conference a couple of years ago. He went down really well especially with our Maintenance guys. They're usually very hard to please, especially when it comes to urging them to 'be more productive'. Hope all goes well and that your mum is listened to. At the moment, her needs/wishes HAVE to take priority not your step-dad's. Just as a point of interest, has he ever mentioned poltergeists and/or burglars before and does he have hoarding habits?
pepsimax - wd you on working AND supporting your dd in her career and with your dgkids :T. Good luck with the cleaning jobs :).
CCP - lol at the chicken stock dream ;) - good luck with the jewellery making.
Ladyhawk - great Freecycling - wtg :j. Hope the 'furbabes' allow you a good sleep tonight.
savingforoz - good luck with the story AND for you and Ladyhawk for your Sunday Night dates.
sparrer - Still no snow here at the moment - though there was a heck of a frost this morning. Just damp right now - will have to see what the morning brings. lol at you working your way through the freebies board, love that one, but haven't had chance to go on it for a while. Maybe tomorrow ..................

I'm going to leave my own pleasures till tomorrow morning - should really be in bed now. Got a funeral tomorrow lunchtime - so not likely to be a very pleasant day.

nitye nite and hope you all sleep well - love Ollie xxx

Raining AGAIN this morning so 8 muddy paws in and out and in again all day. My floors will be worn away with all the washing down! Hey Ho...
But I am determined not to let it get me down - I have a lovely life, am fit and well (oh and still 9.13 this morning :-) So here are my pleasures that cost nothing from yesterday.
    1. Smiled and wished a good day to grumpy dog walking man - he never even says "Good Morning"!
    2. Helped my BF in her mission to track down family - held my hand as she sent an email to her newly found Uncle.
    3. Didn't spend any money at all. My household budget is running about 20% under for Jan and Feb.
    4. Got through a charity cttee meeting without feeling like resigning because of the old foggies
    5. Still have only had 2 glasses of wine since returning from Christmas hols (4th Jan)(and they were our small glasses not the huge ones we used to fool ourselves with)

And I found this great quote
" If I am not for me, who will I be? If I am only for me what will I be? If not now, when? "

    Have a good day everyone.

    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents
  • Bit early for pleasures but lets try:-

    1. Woke early so got up and started packing for our trip. We are going to see my 90year old aunt who is in hospital after breaking tib and fib.

    2. It's a 120 mile journey so we are staying overnight in the guest room at the sheltered accommodation where my aunt lives and it's only £15.

    3. To keep the trip as low cost as possible we are totally self catering. Long live hm ready meals, I only had to put my hand in the freezer.

    4. The snow, although significant is starting to thaw and is not going to keep us back.

    5. The sun is shining.

That's all, not bad for 8.00a.m. See you when we get back.

    Bella.
