Ah Ollie, it's so lovely to see you back with us and I'm so happy that your absence was due to a fantastically wonderful occasion - it sounds like you all had a lovely time, family reminiscing can be such fun
Also - I hope your DD gives up the evil cigarettes....I was shocked the other day when a friend told me that her OH is still smoking even after 2 of his 3 children begged him to stop and told him they didn't want him to die!! *sigh*0 -
Hi all, thanks for the get well wishes. Feeling slightly better today but still really sneezy and sniffly
Hope everyone else is ok, hugs to all that need them.
1. On seeing my charity shop finds and hearing the prices OH declared he ought to come with me next time as he needs a new coatHe has a strong fondness for brand new things so that's quite a change.
2. Dusting hoovering polishing and tidying the front room. Looks much neater - wonder how long it will stay that way
3. Planning on cooking half of the 1.4kg gammon joint I got for £5 in Morrisons for our tea (with bubble and squeak) and then will use stock to make soup for my lunch tomorrow.
4. Hearing OH may have a few jobs coming up in the next few weeks, so money will hopefully be a little easier for a bit.
5. Getting a new recipe from the meal plan thread and now going to cook rumbledy thumps for my lunch
6. Making myself hot lemon and honey last night - the old fashioned way and finding it a comforting bedtime drink.

Hi all
Newlywed, glad you feel better today.
Ollie, it is great to see you back with all your lovely stories of family meetings and adventures!
Megs mum,. welcome to this thread, it is a lovely friendly place and I am sure you will enjoy the company here!
Reverbe, don't leave me in suspense, can you elaborate a bit about the rude Martini girl happening (if you want)? Whatever happened, in any case, well done for getting some compensation for bad treatment!
Here are mine for the day:
1 - 2 x £5 Body Shop vouchers from the Telegraph at the weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) bought me a lovely bright red lippy for £3 and lip pencil for £2.50. I had checked prices of cheaper cosmetics in Boots before to see if it was worth it and it really was!
2 - Telegraph vouchers for cheap clematis and scented roses (each has a P&P charge but the plants are still much cheaper than if I bought them at the nursery).
3 - Lunch with DS, he really loved the roast salmon and spinach salad and thanked me for going out of my way to get him the flat seeded Turkish bread that he likes so much.
4 - I bought some music online for DS and he insisted on paying me for everything straight away, even if I said there was no need to. I like it that he is like me, does not like debt hanging on - I must have done something right in his upbringing!
5 - Had a call from the charity manager where I had a bit of a difficult encounter with her admin person and was able to explain myself. All is resolved now and I shall attend their information day in March.
6 - Got the link for pics of our Morsbag release - the laugh is on me: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zazapics/?saved=1
Have a great evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Certainly tho I posted a lot about this at the time last September. it was a Martini event to promote Martini Rosato with drinks and mini makeovers, goody bags etc. In brief I was sitting down in the queue for a Nails Inc manicure. Some PR girl came up behind my back and asked me if I was interested in being filmed. When I turned round she looked at me and said EWWWWWWWW Now I am not a very attractive woman but was well dressed and ceertainly neither the ugliest nor the oldest there. I complained both to PR company involved after tracking down who she was ( all the Martini promo staff were lovely btw) and to Martini themselves. Didnt get an apology from her which was really what I was after (tho admittedly would have liked some booze from Martini lol)but Martini bunged me a Nails Inc voucher.
This might seem petty but I have both worked and trained in PR at Uni and to be being extremely rude to the clients/customer is NOT on.What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Reverbe, I am gobsmacked that anyone could be so rude, especially someone working in public relations.
Makes me appreciate all the lovely people on here...
Good to see you spoke up about it.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Thats not at all petty Reverbe bad manners are the worst sin especially in PR! think she may need retraining.
Today has been lovely and I feel positive for the first time in a long time.
1. new double glazing fitted yesterday so last night had such a good nights sleep, warm and sooo peaceful, a council estate is a very noisy place.
2. Broke the cat flap so we were living with a small gale force wind, new ones are very expensive but did my research and just bought the flap for four pounds - now thats a bargain.
3.Ds just been round and carried all my shopping from the car - paving stones. Dh gets frustrated as He can't help nowadays. So Ds came just as I was serving up potato hash, good timing.
4. Took out new life insurance, was very concerned that I didnt have any. Got it through a cashback site so am expecting 6 months premiums back in August.
5. Cleaned entire house after the windows were finished so now the rest of the week is all mine to craft in. Aaah the kettles boiling must go and brew up and put my feet up.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -

6) My first post on MSE and being made to feel so welcome
Hope you all had a good dayAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -

2) Helped a fried start clearing her mum's house & we had a good natter.
