Calling Ollie, hope everything's okay with you and yours, we're all missing you here x
Today
1. Managed to get myself properly set up in my "home office" and had a quiet work day.
2. Good physio session, felt very relaxed afterwards.
3. Took some clothes back to M&$ and found a gorgeous olive green dress reduced to £3!! It's fabulous, I'll want to wear it every day (until I slim out of it, lol)
4. Free cup of tea whilst browsing in L'0ccitane, slurp
5. Very helpful assistant in J0hn Lewi$, gave me great advice on a sewing machine.....I was going to buy there and then but I'm waiting to find out if I'm going to be lucky enough to be given one by a fre@cycler, fingers crossed!
Bad news though, I spilt some water on my mobile and it's lost all my contacts, diary, address book, notes......and of course I never backed anything up. I think I have some diary entries in a paper diary, grrr. However, there is a pleasure, as it hasn't lost my photos, so I need to find the relevant cable and should be able to get them off before persuading my service provider that I do want to upgrade to a nice new phone asap!0 -
My five for today:
1. A good day on the domestic goddess front, made lentil pate and a shepherd's pie.
2. Finishing (to first draft, anyway) my latest short story.
3. Short day at work and home by 3pm.
4. Reading some great online fiction.
5. Yummy homemade hummus for lunch.
Off for an early night - goodnight all xLife is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening all,
What a day - it went so fast!!
1) Just chatting with my boss about random things as we were both getting on with work that didn't need 100% concentration. We get on so well when she is not trying to control me!
2) Walking into town with a colleague to pick up my watch from the jewellers. It been a good couple of year since I last wore it - it had been broken all this time.
3) Getting a call from an agency about a really interesting job. I have sent off my latest CV to him so fingers crossed.
4) Taking in some of the biscuits and brownies that I made for everyone at work. I had promised them more brownies for tomorrow but I for got to make them this evening because I was distracted by MSE!
5) Collecting my new dining room chairs from a really lovely lady on Freecycle. I can't believe that she is just giving them away! She even offered to drop the table off since it wouldn't fit in my car. Some people are just wonderful.
Right - need to get my beauty sleep.
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Evening all,
Mine for today:
1. Still not feeling too good so stayed in all day which meant a NSD
2. Something different for us for dinner. We tried scallops and then had gnocchi with ragu sauce
3. Dicing meat that i bought yesterday in Mr.t and freezing it
4. Lovely hot lemon drink with a bit of christmas brandy in it.
5. DD giving me cuddles this morning
Ollie - hope you are ok, we are missing your posts0 -
Ollie you are truly missed.
Pleasures today:-
1. DGK's have come for a two night sleepover.
2. Beefy pudding/pie went down well for tea. It's a suet pastry over the stewing beef but done in the oven in a casserole dish with a lid on, a sort of cross between a suet pudding and a pie - real February Food.
3. Such a lovely feeling 'when the children are asleep'
4. Doing more 'ripple' crochet.
5. I've run out, must be bedtime (a pleasure in itself)

Sent a pm to Ollie but no reply as yet. Thinking of you Ollie, come back to us soon!
CCP putting the chairs together was a heck of a struggle, never had to do it by myself before but decided it wasn't going to win and I have the blisters to prove it was a fight
Wow Mr Lahey you did all that in one day? You must all be great at taking things in, I manage one thing a day (but that could be put down to my great age)
Congrats on finishing the first draft savingforoz, must be a very satisfying feeling to get to that point :T
Hope things start to look up GirlySquare and the family can resolve your s/dads issues as pleasantly as possible
Wishing Newlywed and tealady, and everyone else feeling under the weather, well and hope you feel brighter really soon
My 5 -
1. The dining table only took 20 minutes to assemble. All done now and I'm very impressed
2. Went next door for a cuppa as DNeighbour is on half term (she's a TA) and we put the world to rights as only we women can
3. The Big Clean Up started:eek: , as DM and DB are coming for the day on Thursday (if it doesn't snow)
4. DGD1 passed her driving test first time, very proud of her :A (of course, I'm her Grandma and it's in the job description)
5. My 1000th post :j. MSE has given me such a lovely lot of on line friends, saved me so much money, given me so many laughs along the way..even if it can sometimes be put in the same catagory as other peoples babies and mail order catalogues, a terrible time waster. Thanks Martin, without the site I don't know where I'd be now (but I have a jolly good idea!) :money:
Night night, (((hugs))) everyone, sweet dreams

Morning Everyone,
Cold on the way out and insurance sorted, so I am a much happier bunny today! (Although a bit worried about the insurance as I bought it at about 11pm last night when I was v tired and frazzled!).
I don't know how everyone fits so much into their day! My list for this week just gets longer.......wd Savingforoz on writing your short stories. Thats something I would love to do, but would need to go on a course/not brave enough/nobody would read it etc etc. Bet you can't wait to be inspired by your travels?
Sparrer, thanks for sending a pm to Ollie, we miss her
Yesterday
1. Got the insurance quote down by about £100 plus cashback and extras.:money:
2. Emptied cupboard full of course work from PGCE. Quite cathartic as it was a difficult time. (Lots of paperwork from a school placement who gave me a hard time:(). However, I think I have proved myself in my job and felt ready to move on. I shall use the space to store my school stuff and get organised!:p
3. Big clean in the bathroom. Sparkling!
4. First committee meeting at a charity which has invited me to be a trustee. (Responsibility:eek:). Such lovely people. I am really excited about being involved. And they fed us supper too. Yum!
5. Cooked brisket in a pot roast for the family. Mixed reviews, DH loved it, boys ate it, DD and BF just ate the veg. However, the dog thought she was in heaven when she was given the bone:rotfl:Such a simple pleasure.
Have a lovely day today.
House Elf x0 -
Hi - Just found your thread. Can I join too please? I am trying to find pleasures in the simple things in life: home cooking, creative crafts, taking time to enjoy the lovely place I live. So here are my 5 for today:
1. I have my lovely mini back from the garage (nice chap brought it home for me so I didnt even have to get a lift to the garage.) Glad it conked out at home rather than half way up the M1.
2. Stick to my diet today - be the queen in command not the naughty chimp - by cooking a free range organic chicken and loads of veg.
3. Yoga
4. Walk the dogs round the woods - smiling.
5. Make and send thank-you cards for our weekend away.
And finish the cleaning of the spare room.
See you tomz.

Good morning everybody - sorry for disappearing for the past few days. Just been so busy with dgd1 being here on/off and mum's party at the weekend. Will catch up with all the posts, but here's mine for the time being - ooooh where to begin...............
1. dgd1 stayed overnight, but wasn't very well and didn't go to school the next day. OH took her back home and DD got her to the doc's in the afternoon. She's now got an inhaler and 'breathing thingy' - hopefully DD will decided to use the 'Quit Kit' that I sent for WHEN it finally arrives.
2. Needed to go shopping for my contribution to the party food and dgd1 met me at the local station to help out. Why do kids ALWAYS want to push the trolley - sometimes there's only that trolley that's holding me upright while I'm walking around Asda.
3. Delicious evening meal of Roast Rolled Turkey Breast Joint with roasties, carrots, broccoli, stuffing, yorkies and gravy - very unusualy for a Saturday for us - but was mcuh appreciated all round. With all the trimmings, there would have been enough meat for 4 adults.
4. dgd1 helped me in the kitchen with sausage roll batch baking session - only the ready-made ones, but so fiddly to put on baking trays to get the maximum number on one tray. Were a bit of a nuisance really, will buy large ready cooked ones in future (and cut into smaller pieces) as these all stuck to the baking trays AND greaseproof paper  - certainly NOT worth the hassle.
5. My lovely sister sent her OH to collect us (and the food) on Sunday and saved me a £12 taxi fare  and we spent a great couple of hours working as a team with sis and d/niece who had decided to do 'cocktail stick hedgehogs' which she assured me are now considered 'retro'.
6. Other sis and mum arrived bringing a box that mum 'had discovered' an hour before leaving. This box has been missing for about 20yrs - and mum has blamed EVERY ONE of us for having and/or losing it - ever since she sold the family home. We had all come to the conclusion that all the old photos etc must have been lost. Dad's original adoption papers and his army photos, mum's family photos, some of our childhood photos - we all sat there crying our eyes out - mascara everywhere :rotfl:.
7. The party was a great success with 3 of mum's remaining 4 brothers turning up with their families (the fourth one is in Malta for a month!) - around 70-80 people to help celebrate her 80th birthday :j. We had the family tree (created a few years ago by mum's cousin) on show, which lots of people had never seen before AND we were able to make some corrections and additions to it.
8. As well as seeing Mum so happy, my great PERSONAL delight was in seeing my children/grandchildren all in one place at the same time and getting to meet members of mum's family that they'd never seen before. They were very surprised how many there were - now they know what I mean when I mention 'one of the Sephton's' :rotfl:.
That's me done for now - I'll be back in again later to catch up properly with what you've all been doing. In the meantime, have a good day - love Ollie xxx0
