Hello everyone, hope it was a good weekend! Some small blessings for me over the past few days.

    1) Buying the first of my veggies seeds for the summer and putting in the Tomato, Leek and Cucumber seeds. Also setting out the Potatoes for chitting.

    2) A really nice relaxing weekend with DH, doing nothing special but enjoying each other's company........we don't do Valentine's.

    3) Two lovely FREE conversations on Skyp* with DS2and DS1 and DGs -it's like having them right here with us.

    4) Being able to have the use of a car for the weekend for FREE (ours is still in the garage for repairs)

    5) Having a Loaf of bread made, a tin of flapjacks made, a pan full of Curried Bean Soup made and all the veggies prepared for dinner later.......before 8.30am today and having hoovered the lounge, dusted it and washed the kitchen and conservatory floors and made the bed before 9.30am this morning.

    Phew...............I think I need a cuppa now:)

    Hi all

Muppet81, I looked at your pic with the girls, lovely! I haven't sent my standing order form yet, as I want DH to sign it because he is a taxpayer and I am not, so we can do the Gift Aid too. It is such a lovely cause, I would rather give to small charities than big ones, because the big ones are already well supported. I work in a small charity so I know how difficult it is sometimes to make ends meet.

Here are mine for today, then gotta go to work *sigh*!

1 - Healthy breakfast - toasted real bread (not the commercial sliced variety - courtesy of DD's BF who brings it free from his work!) with pumpkin butter - I have been neglecting my health and diet a bit so today I am starting on a new healthier regime (hopefully)!

2 - A good hard workout at my over 50s aerobics class. Glad I could make it!

3 - Finished a very nice book (Mr Wonderful Takes A Cruise, by John Nott), some of it went a bit against the grain (written by a retired Tory MP and some of his ideas really grated) but on the main it was full of humour and very interesting.

4 - Lunch, boiled green beans for starter then pasta and soya bean soup with omega oil - so healthy it could kill me! At least it will balance tonight's forecasted Vietnamese restaurant meal (see point 6)!

5 - Anticipating pleasure of going to see Food, Inc, a film about food politics, for free, with DH, in exchange for distributing Soil Association leaflets at the end of the show.

6 - As DH and I had not done any Valentine stuff yesterday, we decided that our Valentine day would be today and we are going to the newly refurbished Vietnamese restaurant after the film.

Have a good day everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hi Everyone,

Going to list my pleasures from yesterday as therapy/ reward for spending most of the morning trying to reduce our car insurance quote:mad:

    Sunday

    1. Valentines Day - got perfume from DH and I gave him Itunes card. Both bargains from Ebay/HUKD :money:
    2. Trip into town to see Chinese Dragon dance, but couldn't get in cos full up! DH took DS2 to see Crabzilla at the Sea Life centre instead. (Thank goodness for our Merlin Cards courtesey of MrT- £18 for an Adult entry!!). I went to build up some more points at MrT and use up some vouchers due up 14/2, cos I'm not that keen on fish!
    3. Ebaying progressing nicely.....more listed, people watching and 1 bid Woohoo! Won some auctions too! (I can become obsessed by my Ebay Empire!:o).
    4. Some decluttering success. The charity bag is filling up. I will have a read of the decluttering thread Mineallmine to keep motivated!
    5. No evening meal to cook as we had our £8 valentines meal from MrM. Very nice. I should have made more effort with the table setting, but the Ebay stuff is all over the dining room, so we made do with the kitchen table. DH was happy, he could watch Top Gear. So romantic:rotfl:

Off to do battle with the insurance companies again:( I think it will be tricky finding 5 pleasures for today!

    1. Preparing frozen cauliflour for the dehydrator and realising there is too much and having the left over cauli with a quickly made, but non the less, tasty home made cheese and chive sauce for my lunch.

2.Pulling in at the garage to put some air in my car tyres and finding that the previous user had put in too much money and that I would get all my air for free! (Which it should be anyway, if you ask me).

    3. Sowing some seeds in my propogators...one pack of seeds to have '15 inside', but I count out 26.

    4. Having nipped out to an appointment in a busy area, finding free parking available.

    5. My dog eating the home made mixer-type dog food i made for her.

Hi all, have a bad cold today but still trying to find some pleasures... Hugs to all that need them or just want them ;)

    1. Popping down to charity shops and getting a smart wool coat for £5 and a pair of ankle boots for £5 together with an unworn pair of Jones shoes for £6.99 - I love Jones shoes :D

    2. While passing, popped into somerfield and got the kids cereal for half price (new Kellogs Krave cereal).

    3. Going to Morrisons (via some other charity shops) and finding their chicken thigh fillets cheaper than sainsbugs and a huge unsmoked gammon joint for £4.99.

    4. Having most of the food we need for the rest of the month, other than milk and fresh bits.

    and some from the weekend:

    5. Stepson2 and me baking marble cake and then taking some of it round to his nan and grandad and having a nice chat

    6. Stepson2 clearing up the table after lunch, including wiping the table, and stacking things in the dishwasher - all without being asked! He wanted to use the laptop ;) Seems like a fair swap! :D

    7. Enjoying not working rather too much :D
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

    Hello everyone.

Bella - your poor aunt! I hope she mends quickly.

sparrer - well done on putting your furniture together. I'm useless at that sort of thing (I've got no patience!) so I'm full of admiration for anyone who can manage it.

Caterina - hope you have / had a nice evening out (depending when you read this!)

house elf - hope you got the insurance companies sorted out in the end, and the saving was worth th hassle.

newlywed - sorry you've got the horrible sniffles - hope you feel better soon.

    Right, my five for today:

    1) Banana and maple syrup porridge for breakfast this morning - the last time for a while as I'm now out of bananas and maple syrup. :(

    2) Discussing HM soup recipes with a colleague at work, particularly as it's someone I don't usually get on with.

    3) Picked up some whoopsied bacon and a mixed cheese selection in Tesco - that's lunch sorted for while.

    4) I've still got some wine left in the bottle I opened by mistake on Saturday, so I can have a glass with dinner while watching the Olympics..

    5) I've lost a bit of weight so I can have chips with dinner without feeling too guilty.

    Forgot one:

    6) Got some freebie pant liners in the post today. Not exciting, but very useful!

Have a good evening, everyone - I'm off to watch the skiing. :D (And there's a word that never looks right - too many i's!)
Back after a very long break!

The first day of half term. I have taken the week off work (except Wed) and decided to spend some quality time at home with the kids. Everyone who works will know what i mean, often i think i don't give them as much attention as they need. Early mornings, late nights, business trips. So this week is dedicated to them.

    1. Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester - Fantastic, the kids loved it today and it is free!
    http://www.mosi.org.uk/

    2. We went to Manchester Airport viewing area, it is great for the kids to watch the planes taking off - which is amazing really, they have flown plenty of times and get bored when waiting for the plane - funny how its not so boring when stood in a car park in the rain!!! They have an actual concorde which amazed my son no end!

    3. Then we went to the University Museum which has loads of animals and stuff for the kids to do. It was free and although by this time we were worn out we still had a good time. http://www.museum.manchester.ac.uk/

    4. Hitting the Trafford Centre, i gave the kids £10 each and seeing them all try and outdo each other. Amazingly their energy returned!

    5. Being stuck in traffic all the way home on the M62 listening to the kids arguing thinking to myself how lucky we really are.

Hope everyone had as good a day as we did

    :)

    Evening all

    Mine for today

1 A walk into town. Nice to get some fresh air and the kids behaved and walked all the way without moaning!!! :p

2 Bought 2 of the lucky bags for £3 in Claires and even though there is some stuff to put on ebay, i am very pleased with what i got. put stuff away for xmas presents and for me, something for dd's birthday, and a few bits to start off a 'party girl' hamper for sil. Am just about to start sewing a drunk sock monkey to go in it!

3 Got a lovely pair of pj's for £2 for myself and got some to put in a pamper hamper for other sil for xmas present. All these hampers - i am really getting into this!!

4 Took the kids to craft session this afternoon. We made paper cats and dogs and i have got the instructions so might make it as a craft in toddler group (its very simple and might get the mums more involved as they will still need to help their kids)

5 Everyone ate their tea (pizza and chips to use up extra dough i made) but still they all ate it and it was really nice.

Thats it for me, got a drunk sock monkey to sew! Have a good evening all.
