Evening all.
BoP - I love the match photos - I imagine it can't be easy taking photos of something like a football match where everyone keeps moving.
sparrer - I'm more than a little envious of your apple tree. I tried growing one of the little ones in a pot a few years ago but eventually gave up and freecycled it as I didn't get a single apple in five years.I hope the person who took it had more luck (I did warn her it had never fruited, I hasten to add!).
1) Very, very long lie-in this morning.
2) NSD and NPD.
3) Had another of my periodic panics over money, until a more thorough check proved that I'm fine and on budget for the month.
4) Watched the grand prix and a football match - my 5ky subscription is an expensive luxury, but I do enjoy having it.
5) Enjoying the yellow thing this evening - it's been really gloomy all day so I apologise if it was because my contribution to the meter fund was late in arriving!Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening
Up early again this morning, I wish by body clock would remember it is Sunday and is allowed a lie in.
1. As up early made good use of the time and made the following - Carrot muffins, chocolate muffins, carrot soup, tomato, red wine and herb sauce, roasted a chicken and stripped ready for packed lunches, roasted a small pork loin and sliced for lunches, loaf of bread in bread maker, pureed apples with last of MIL apples she gave me last week.
2. Kitchen floor got an impromtu clean as dropped a pot of tomato sauce as was putting it in freezer. Oops
3. Carved up a large beef joint that I bought yesterday into 3 seperate joints and got in freezer. Also cut up large block of cheese and in freezer.
4. Washing done and dried on line
5. Well deserved little nap this afternoon
6. Enjoying a glass of wine
7. NSD
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Let's see if I can find 5 for today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Made a pumpkin pie.
4) Went to the shingle "beach" next to the river this afternoon. Bigger son made a fishing line and smaller son lit a fire! They are obsessed with survival skills at the moment so each has a rucksack with all sorts of bits and pieces in it.
5) Been playing the piano for a while.
Smaller son off to New Rd tomorrow to watch some cricket. Hope everyone else has a good BH.0 -
Ello I'm not supposed to be on, unfortunately we traveled .9 of a mile before a person collided into the back of the caravan they hit us at a speed of 45mph, while we were stopping. She hit with such force she went part under the van, and pushed our van under our car. It was a bad accident, when 2 fire/2ambulance and 2 police arrived for us and as they were cutting her out of the car everything kind of went into melt down.:( You can imagine this is a very short version as this is a pleasures thread.
1 day later there are positives, while DH and I are hurting we and the animals that were also in the car are alive.
2. The caravan is a write off but we have been helped out buy insurance policy and hire co so will be able to continue on Tuesday.
3. Er support of family and friends who have been lovely and understanding when I made no sense at all, not even being able to remember our own address.
4. Taking a day to come back with it and feel more positive.
5. A lot of photos and police statement and witnesses show the accident completely not our fault means a slight comfort of some help from insurers, er hopefully.0 -

I've not tried patio fruit trees but some need to be grown in pairs for cross-pollination, perhaps read up about which breeds are self-pollinating if you want to try again
Good luck mhags
When do you start your new position BoP? Good luck to you too, whenever it is
And good luck for good news today, kittikins
Tealady I burst out laughing when I read your description of your DD's 'disappointed' face :rotfl:
DD what a lot of invitations! You'll be an international jet-setter with a commute to Prague before long
1. It stopped raining. Much as it was needed I think 36 hours consistent downpour was just a little OTT
2. Poor dog got drenched several times, then kept snuggling up to me when I dried him off. So sweet. The cat on the other hand, flew out into the garden, screeched to a halt, jumped around on the spot and flew straight back in again!
3. Didn't need to shop today
4. Meeting and lunch out with friends, the bar staff all pretend to hide when we arrive now. Our table of non drinkers makes more noise and laughs louder than all the other customers put together, I'm not surprised they groan when they see us! They're lovely really, and all good fun
5. Not quite an nsd, apart from lunch I popped into the cs on my way out and found a gorgeous green fabric floral bangle for 50p. Very unusual and very pretty.
Sweet dreams0 -
(((Hugs))) PK and family, so sorry to hear of the accident but relieved you're all physically okay. Thank goodness for the ins co and hire co helping out, and for the emergency services. Hope your hurt goes away quickly x0
-
Likewise, PK was shocked to hear your news. So glad your all okay, and seem so positive about the accident, well done you! :A
1. Lazy day with a good lie in (oh working)
2. Read 3 chapters of my book
3. Saw that yellow thing in the sky & managed to fall asleep in it for an hour!
4. Was given a cooked turkey joint from a friend, so had that for a quick & easy tea.
5. DS home from his holiday, nice to see him before he's back at uniNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
Oh PK, that's awful
So sorry to hear about your accident, sending love and healing prayers for you both, and love to animals, who are probably feeling rather shaken up too xx
Saturday was a HORRIBLE day, I went down to my house, had far too much to do, it was raining, the estate agents were rubbish, none of my chums were in, my silly daddy and brother had left a very heavy piece of furniture for me to shift by myselfI was angry, tired, sore and tearful all day pretty much. Oh and I'm 99% sure that even if I exchange on Tuesday, I won't be able to complete on Friday
Anyway......today has been better.
1. DD had a sleepover in my bed, and we had lots of cuddles this morning.
2. She's drawing me a set of lovely pictures, telling a funny chicken story - I did maths whilst she drew the outlines and told me the funny tale of disco dancing chickens!
3. We went out for a fab swim at a pool with a wave machine
4. Played in the park
5. Read a brilliant children's book
6. Have set myself up a blog, to eventually put my reading records on for my course - won't allow comments though, it's just for me to save on paper!
7. We felt like we were back in Italy after our swim/play, when we went to a restaurant and had much needed and enjoyed cake and drinks.
8. Watched the 9pm drama thing on Beeb 1, can't remember its name.
9. Did a lot more maths, shame I'm only half way through the book!!
10. Planning for a chum from home to come and visit us here, with her kiddywinks - hope they like a big, friendly dog!!0 -
PK (((hugs))) so sorry to hear of your accident. I am glad you are all ok and hope insurance is sorted quickly. I hope other party is ok too after being cut out of car... even if it was her fault. Shock can do weird things to you (forgetting address etc) and can creep up on you later so take care of yourselves x
Pleasures
1. Loads of washing done and dried. Appearance of the sun mid afternoon
2. new washing machine purchased from Homebase online ... they've got 15% off this weekend... they were cheaper anyway and with the discount it was £100 cheaper than elsewhere. Perhaps this machine wont eat our clothes like the one I've got now has been doing for the last 5 years.... am finally fed up of little holes appearing despite using a laundry bag
3. had a good clear out and some MORE stuff stored in the loft. Whilst up there had a bit of a sort out and threw down some stuff for the tip. Moved everything else away from the chimneys which are being removed 14 Sept
4. caught up on some recorded programmes
5. started to thin out my bookshelf with a view to donating some to the library or charity shop... can I bear to part with them
