A tiring day for me! Here are my pleasures:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Drove to my sister's and we put all the stuff from her house in a borrowed minibus and the boot of my car.
3) Went to brother in law's mother's for lunch (they are moving to the town where brother in law grew up).
4) Saw the new house! Then spent 2 hours carrying all the stuff into it.
5) Went to Stratford with my mum. Had dinner in the restaurant at the theatre.
6) Watched Hamlet.
Not long got back (never know why the drive to Stratford takes THAT long) so its bedtime.
Oh 7) Sons coming home tomorrow!
nearly forgot 8) My sister's GCSE history class (28) all passed with A* to C grades.0 -

4 Ooooh me dears them tarts have gone missing. There were so nice. Now for spotted !!!!!! for big sis in Tuesday.
3 Off to shop to get the values in. None of that cheap T and S ship, but kidney beans and toms from W8flour. Wobbleades as well.
2 gether with Ms Whachiski. Nice to be separated by he cat! On the sofa.
1 Iceberg. You see the surface. In the mirror a reflection. Underwater deadly? Is that all!
On clean sheets, minded of my Chief when we were at Cosford in 82. Marvelled at freshly pressed cotton sheets in the mess. Said he enjoyed it so much when he joined up in 58, the first time he ever slept in a sheet during training. Had to be changed every week. Top to bottom, bottom exchanged. Oh them crows feet.0 -
Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! This should be my last leisurely lady Friday!
Woke up at silly o'clock but did manage to get back to sleep.....happened to look out of front window and saw something under the doormat....gifts!!
Sweets and a magazine sent from friend in Sydney who has been home in UK on holiday! Much excitement over sweets....had for breakfast!
Girls were off school on an in service day so came to unpaid work with me for a couple of hours....we got to try freshly baked Italian ( is an Italian cafe) sweet pastries....er yum! Then sampled the deli meats ....er yum!
Then we has the cheek to go for some lunch which was nice....and not too expensive.
Then home and did some correspondence, some money transferring....payday ....in one minute and straight back out the next!
I am pleased with how we ( me) have managed without my pay. I start work on Monday and will welcome paid employment again. I have enjoyed the time off, I feel very relaxed and de-stressed. Have done the things I wanted to do, I've enjoyed cooking and baking and reading and pottering etc but I'm ready to get back out there!
Watched Holby and The Great British Bake Off....the Australian one has been on past few weeks and is almost finished but its not a patch on the British one.
It's been a wet, windy and cold day , I had to wrap up to walk up to the post office earlier....stopped at green grocers on way back and bought a bag of rtc turnips. Came home and watched GBBO whilst chopping them for freezer, plus carrots, leeks , par boiled some potatoes and parsnips...all for freezer ( for when I'm a working mother again!) made a strawberry and rtc apple crumble for pudding tonight .
Have a lovely Friday everyone!0 -
Morning
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Met with some friends for lunch, nice to catch up and have a laugh. Plus had a £5 voucher so all very reasonable.
2. DD was very excited to get her first payslip. It wasn't a fortune but she is happy with what she got and even happier to know next months will be even more but then sadly no more work for a while as she is just covering in holidays but at least it is something.
3. Chilli for dinner with HM Tortilla Chips. Tortilla chips were made from a couple of stale wraps left in a packet.
4. Nice walk home from work in the sunshine and beautiful sunset last night.
5. Getting to the end of the month and there is still quite a bit of money left in my account so may have to buy those shoes
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Morning all, haven't caught up with posts but will when I have a mo. Meanwhile...
1. lappy back, not perfect but in some sort of working order. We'll limp along until we can afford a new one, this year, next year, sometime...
2. new patio laid, new fencing in situ, shed re-sited, all looking good. Got one coat of forget-me-not on the fencing, too wet to do another this morning so will do it later when the beautiful yellow thing has done its work
3. visited DM yesterday, the car park (M25) was its usual self but otherwise all okay. Still impressed with fuel, it took Kefi half a tank at 36mpg, it takes this one a little over a quarter at 48mpg. Happy
4. elec bill came in, they owe me well over £100. Now in C-word fund
5. DGD2 (of DD) and DGS3 (of DS) had excellent results for GCSE's, A*'s, A's and B's, plus a couple of C's and D's (so as not to make their peers jealous!). Very, very proud parents and Grandma0 -
Welcome back Sparrer, hope your laptop gets a new lease of life!
Well, it's 2:30pm and I've still not exchanged on my house yet - my solicitor is probably going to be 'busy' until 5pm, or maybe even off? I decided not to call him as I think I would struggle to be civil to him as he is so rude, and so am making the estate agent earn her keep by chasing everyone for me!
Oh and quelle surprise, no exchange todayThe solicitor at the bottom of the chain is waiting for a faxed document to come through from a mortgage company before being allowed to exchange. !!!!!!
Feel like everyone's just been lying to me to keep me sweet, it seems odd that the solicitor at the bottom of the chain didn't realise that this vital document wasn't there until 4pm? Maybe I should go and train to be a solicitor rather than a teacher, and do the job right!
What a blooming carp (to put it very politely) way to start the weekend - and a blooming long one as well, so another day of beggaring about - at least - as of course there's no guarantee the flipping document will be faxed by Tuesday0 -
Oh Kittikins, I'm so sorry to hear of all the problems you're having. Fingers crossed it gets sorted asap next week.
PK - fingers crossed for your poor little critter, too.
1) Olop urgently needed a drink and I was pleased to find that £40 of petrol filled it to the brim.
2) A meeting at work this afternoon went more smoothly than I was expecting.
3) Treated myself to a (very) spicy chicken salad from the local sarnie shop for lunch, paid for with my winnings from last night's pub quiz.
4) Pizza for dinner tonight - it's a RM made one, but from the supermarket, on SO, and very big so it will do me for lunch tomorrow as well.
5) A very long weekend ahead as I've booked Tuesday off work as my DPs are coming to visit.Back after a very long break!0 -
Sorry to hear about your continuing house woes, Kittikins. I hope it gets sorted out early next week.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) A long sleep after yesterday's busy day.
2) Got house tidy ready for sons coming home.
3) Took mum's clearing out stuff to the charity shop for her.
4) Nice look round Sainsburys sans sons.
5) Sons home! Smaller son very unsettled; will take him a while to get back to normal, I think.
6) Sons worked on their entries for the village show tomorrow. There are 5 children's classes (they are in different age groups now). So they've made and decorated fairy cakes, made cornflake cakes and tomorrow are going to make "something recycled" and produce some good handwriting!0 -
Hoping to hear more positive news for you by tomorrow kittikins
Looking forward to hearing about your new job mhags, good luck for Monday and hope it meets your expectations
A busy day without leaving home -
1. put tools etc back into shed, found lots of bits to car boot/freecycle
2. three old hanging basket brackets were almost thrown away til I found a can of metallic black car spray paint which DS left here years ago. Three very shiny black brackets are now waiting to go up on the new fencing
3. DNeighbour's DD was practising on her piano while I was in the garden, she not only plays all the latest songs but has the voice to sing along to them. Wonderful entertainment while I worked
4. DN above gave me two slices of hm mincemeat tart, which will go nicely with my afternoon cuppa for the next couple of days
5. DS phoned to say DGS4 has been given a place at the country's top college, which is, fortunately, in the town where they live, to study accountancy.
6. DD won 2nd and 3rd in a photographic competition, her first ever attempt
7. nsd/npd
8. yellow thing all day
9. Mrs Brown's Boys, it has me laughing til I cry!
10. Found an @mazon voucher when tidying the bedroom, which a friend gave me last month (and which just shows how seldom I tidy my bedroom). Will save it til I find something I really [STRIKE]need[/STRIKE] want
Sweet dreams0
