5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Morning
VJsmum - so sorry to hear about your friend, horrible cruel disease.
Amppersand - yay for the keys
Sparrer - Malta is a lovely island and the bus service around the island is fab and so cheap, we used it to get from airport to hotel and cost less than €10 for the 3 of us rather than the €30 quoted online for the transfer.
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. DD successfully got to the North East on her own by train. I know she is more that capable of this journey but still always feel a bit uneasy at her travelling across London on her own.:o
2. Lunch at the pub with some people at work and old boss got the drinks in so only had to pay for a sandwich which was reasonably priced and very yummy. Nice to sit out in the sunshine.
3. Chatting with someone who was visiting our office that comes from the same town as me and turned out we went to the same school though at different times. As I live about 300 miles away now it seemed a strange coincidence but just shows what a small world it is.
4. Sitting in the garden for an hour when got in from work in the sunshine. Saw lots of butterflys fluttering around.
5. Yummy dinner of HM chicken and cashew nut chow mein with enough left for OH lunch today. Then sat in the garden for another hour with a glass of wine and my book, sheer bliss. So quiet and lovely temperature.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
VJsmum- sorry to hear of your loss xx
LFS you are fab! Reminds me of a friend of mine (in her 60's) who owned a riding school and was raking the indoor school over in the buff apart from wellies as it was so hot as no one was booked in.However a boy turned up in error for a lesson on his pony:rotfl:She said she didn't know who was more shocked/embarrassed so she just shouted at him - poor kid, scarred for life no doubt.
PK- good haul
Have a lovely day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Tight for time, so will try for brevity:rotfl:

-be prepared for hairs prickling on arms, laughter, working at singing and dancing:T:D. It was all completely dazzlingly wonderful. &, She of the Precariat, has been happily !!!!less[let's blame finding those keys]now possesses dvd/cd, t-shirt, bag, memories of good conversation with them, some siggies for my l-h who shares a name with their founder[visit this arvo]and other bits.
Please go if you can. Also, my badge - Spooky Men are Equal Opportunity Employers. also applies to the Sing Like a Bloke Workshops, which I definitely want to experience. I asked if Tim Minchin was a fan. This has planted a few thoughts, which I urged on.
2. Big thunder and lightning right now - love big weather.
3. Had pegged out only one thing as it began.
4. This year's descendant of the little chap in my atavar:j. First sighting yesterday and again just now. I can never presume it. I love their presence, feel the privilege of this. Managed pics.
5. So glad of yesterday's big sun, which allowed the complete dissection of every element of car to reveal keys, caught and slipping sideways down a gappy thing book crate cover. ...with enough time in sun left over for more toasting. Suspect boot will respond if I can get in and re-attach the cabling - ludicrous that lock should be electricky. Have never been fan, but such was car and I'd waited weeks for something suitable/affordable last year. I am looking to change - this one has never 'spoken' to me - but tight are the times, scarce are my Fenboys' cars.
6. Overhead watering is happening as we speak.:T
dfv- immediate latch onto your splendid 'Snrfgle'. I'll try and remember how to spell it and am highly unlikely to credit you:D Pronunciation notes? Also delighted you encourage knives for your youngers - essential, fun, feel-good enhancing, good skills mastery. Feel free to allocate all of my hot chillies- more than 5 - to your keenest one. I'm not.
pk- like sound of your toddy, seems more 'So there!' somehow. Good for you re:work.
vjm - bit of a heart lurch just to see you are heading for the Lot...35C in my commune today.
lfs - I was caught similarly when we had what R hated people calling 'the Marina'. Skinny shower, river etc, but someone came.... Lucky you, first 'matoes. Also, if I may, sent you 'Well done' for those 2 months since your DFD which somehow has fixed itself in my head.
tealady - really like the sound of your chow mein.
Don't know if 3rd Test is affected, still tuned to Women's Hour. Complicated schedule with lots of stops today. Rain is a nuisance because I can't do one of them, which now affects other and blahdiblah it goes.
Hmm, nice short post. :rotfl: Might as well end as I began:DCAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

1. Thank you for all your posts. Ampersand, my DD is a detective fiction nut, I shall pass on the recommendation and investigate myself. Loved the keys found post.
Also loving our French saga.
I'm so pleased Walter the Springer puppy brought a smile.
I always thought that people who referred to their non-related dogs as 'brothers and sisters' were being a bit twee and anthromorphic, but having seen Beth and Walter together it is tempting to think this way.
2. Dr C. getting there, all being well.
3. Finished an excellent book, 'Walden on Wheels' by Ken Ilgunas. He left college in the States with a largely useless degree and $32 000 of debt, and paid it off in 3 years by working in a wide variety of jobs - several in Alaska- and being super-frugal. The wilderness lifestyle suited him, a former video game addict. Then he got into one of the world's best colleges (Duke, Durham, North Carolina) for a post-grad degree and to avoid more debt, lived secretly and super-frugally in a very large van, whilst working to pay his fees and basic living expenses. Really interesting story that makes you think too, and a very engaging young man.
4. Sport. Cricket, Glorious Goodwood (horse racing), world swimming championships. Cheering on Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte. What a story, mother Ingrida killed at 4, raised by Gran, joins Dad Saulius in UK at 12 to further swimming career and is double Olympic and World champ at 16.
5. A small but vital pleasure - woke up realising I had forgotten to put the refuse bin out for 7 am collection and discovered DS, aka Dr C had done it. Fortnightly collections here so it was a huge relief in this weather.
On the odd occasions when I do forget, it's always the green rubbish bin with all sorts of smelly things in it that misses collection, not the more fragrant blue recycling bin, always full of clean paper, card, tins and plastic.
6. Not losing this post when asked to log in again on posting. Thank heavens for copy and paste.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Evening all.
mcculloch - thanks for the gorgeous puppy photo.
ampersand - that's great news about the keys - hope you get the boot problem sorted out soon, too.
1) My new office chair finally arrived today, after more than 3 months of faffing about. :j
2) A few glimpses of yellow thing between the clouds, although I notice it's now raining again.
3) Had a  moment when I heard then saw something grey and brown rustling under the bushes in the garden and thought it was a rat - then it popped its head out and turned out to be a sparrow!
4) French bread pizza for dinner tonight, which I'm really looking forward to.
5) It's Friday. :jBack after a very long break!0 -

I would seem to have been walking around in various stages of undress since the weather turned warm!! I'm not a little lass so I must be one heck of a sight in my undies and wellies walking the dog round the field!
1. 3 more tomatoes..one yellow:D
2. HM scone based pizza with fridge find pepper and HM crinkle chips nomnom (and this is why I'm not a little lass!)

Guten abend alles berlin ist fab
Got here safely yesterday about 4. Hotel is clean, cheap and central. We have 4 single beds (!) in our 'double' room which considering marital breakp is probs good. Met up with polish friends then a short rest and freshen up then went off for supper. After that we went to the holocaust memorial (very humbling), the park (complete wit elderly naturists, and why not i say) and a drink in sony centre.
Today off to reichstag for roof terrace tour (fab) then potstag and sanssouci palace. Wow. Temp up to 34 today and up to 36 tomoz. Oh and now i remember spose to be doing 5 good things so...
1) reichstag terrace
2) lunch at terrace restaurant in potstag
3) wandering round sanssouci park (and finding shade!)
4) finding hotel wifi which was down yesterday is now working
5) remembering to bring travel kettle, huge mug and tea bags and keeping milk fresh by standing in sink of cold water and covering with wet flannel. Putting my physics degree to good use lolMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

lfs - ah yes, all the Arnold Lobel Frog and Toad titles. Joyous things. Also recommend Patricia Coombs' Mouse Caf!
1. Good visit this arvo. Pledged that l-h WILL know and love Spooky Men's Chorale, dragged to same kicking and screaming if need be:-) They return in 2years, accommodated generally by other folk/chorale-friendly peeps, so 2015 maybe, which should be right timing.
2. Please may I add another re:concert? At end, when people and SMC milled together, both sides reluctant to let performance magic go, little chap - 'I'm 4' solemnly announced to me - had brought A Tool along, toy power drill that was both Shiny and Blue[yes, you DO have to go back to the song]. We had interesting conversation[shades of you with little franco-swede vjm. In other lives, I have been pilloried, physically attacked for this stuff, for reading too much, for being 'clever', for elocuted-in-NZ-childhood RP accent, for being an only child etc.etc., so I know how it goes] A Spooky Man came up and asked if young man had a moment to help. 'This thing', mimed shape ' needs fixing, right there. Can you do it? Do you need me to help? Tell me what you want me to do'' Young man and Spooky Man then did the job. This perfect little epiphany will remain with me as golden all the days of my life. I don't apologise if it reads too saccharine sickly. Blame me as messenger; don't nullify the message.
3. Just caught neighbour's girls again. Have offered to right wing clip demain. Accepted. One laid her first double yolker yesterday - enormous, painful?
4. Now see neighbour's bunnies have names to their bedrooms, courtesy visitng grandchildren - iggy and pop, upsy and daisy, fe, fi, fo and fum are some I saw.
5. Many sporty listens as per mcculloch. Had hoped Clarke might carry his bat - deserved, but not to be. Enjoyed Aggers 'Geoffrey, you really are in a cantankerous mood today' as GB set off on[choose one or many adjectives of choice:usual/predictable/autopilot/stuck record] auto-rant re:match umpires.
