McCullough - adorable!
Ampersand - Hallelujah about finding keys. Snrfgle about the boot.
Changed the bedding & slept under brand new duvet cover! (Excavated from under the lads bedding stash & lost from view before it could be used. <blush>)
Took younglings off hunting reeds. They got fresh air, exercise, proper knife practice (usage & not scaring passing traffic, dog walkers, horses etc) and maybe some of the reeds will make rush dips. (Yep, medieval lighting. Odd family hobby.)
Child possessed of a new egg cup (red, not quite silicone, looks like the mastermind chair to me! 50 pence in asda pound section) happily devoured boiled eggs for breakfast. Also played with iPad & a scrap of felt - uneasy egg that sits on throne...
Got an update from hospital - father in law has been returned home to pass gallstone "naturally". He's been told its 6mm across - our eyes are watering in sympathy, but he's so happy to be home!
Husband has been painting toy soldiers for the lads. It keeps him moving enough to avoid bedsores but not enough to make a mess of his slowly healing foot. He's coping admirably with a summer holiday derailed by a bit of not making a fuss over a small thing that then got a bit serious.
Offhand, how much chilli sauce is needed to count as one of your five a day? Eldest adores fearsome high Scoville fluids (& I refuse to add corrosives to home cooking.) Just wondering if his claim to this additional "vegetable" adds up. (Memo to self, hide an extra handful of cabbage into the tomato sauce. They haven't noticed so far...)
Just realised - tis the day to take meter readings! If ever you need a pretext to get a camera on your phone, this is a dilly. All responsible & moneysaving, no unexpected photo ambush plans, no indeed...0 -
1. Woke to superb weather, long may it last
2. Breakfasted on the patio, as did DNeighbour. Set the world to rights over our own cuppa's
3. Arranged to meet a friend for a mini convention on Saturday - in March in August, or is it in August in March?
4. Paid for our weekend to Hayling Island next month, and settled the bill for Malta in Nov. All done on a shoestring otherwise it would just be a day in Clacton!
5. Have a sea bream in the oven, bought in Mr M last night ys to 95p, to have with garlic mushrooms and beetroot salad for dinner
Apologies for not responding to posts but the laptop fan has packed up and it's burning my lap, I can only use it for about 20 mins then have to turn off for a hour or so
Have a lovely warm evening, hugs to everyone0 -
1. Slept better.
2. Sun shining, makes all the difference.
3. Had the first home grown cherry tomatoes and first carrot as part of a salad.........
4...... along with homegrown iceberg lettuce.
5. Daily runner beans and sweetpeas at the moment, love summer0 -
Yay, well done on finding your keys Ampersand xx
1. Hot, hot, hot - I hid in my 'summer study', aka the gazebo, where I could be a bit cooler but still appreciate the lovely day
2. DD and I went for a stroll around the village and met a nice builder, his wife and their dog
3. Felt very grouchy this morning but thankfully my mood has improved during the day!
4. NSD and NPD
5. Applied for 2 contracts, got to go and meet an agency in the morning about one of them. Hopefully both short-term and sadly, both pay a pittance, but ho hum....
6. Lovely cool shower after a hot day
7. Going back home tomorrow for the weekend, probably the last one *sigh* but seeing some chums *yay*0 -
Ampersand: Tried a toddy but my stomach wouldn't let me put orange in it. Had a vit c tablet instead:rotfl:
1. Printed off a coupon and got a free latte thing, printed off another coupon and picked up a free clover.:o
2. As I went around dead heading plants I noticed loads of little flowers just waiting to come out.:D
3. I worked but spent the day “in my mind” planning trips and outings. Things finally came to a head, I knew they would. Today I actually “got demanded” to do someone else’s work for them that I have been doing for the past few months, I have to say I took great glee in saying “No”.:D
4. I am craving junk food but I haven’t caved, horrible bug type thing has hold but painkillers are keeping it sort of workable.
5. Had to do a shop, thanks to the RTC lottery dinner tonight is 40p pizza and stuffed potato wedges for 30p, enough for us both, fulfills my junk food craving as well.:rotfl:0 -
I have a camping shower..it looks like something you'd spray the garden with and only holds 5 litres of water...I was rather hot tonight so...
1. I stood outside on a patio slab and had a shower..in the alltogether:o we have no neighbours for a couple of miles:D Ooh it felt so cool and lovely!
2. BBQ with family and best mate:)
3. Bought myself a new enamel dish:)
4. proper butcher chipolatas:D
5. ignoring massive pile of washing up:D

Glad you found your keys, Ampersand.
Hope the moving is going OK, Kittikins.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cleaned up after yesterday's painting and put the bookcase back on the landing.
3) Went to Hereford - boiling! Lovely look round, lunch in my favourite caf! and found 3 geocaches.
4) Went to Sainsburys and got plenty of stuff in plus smaller son's birthday cake for Sunday. :-)
5) A marked increase in texts from smaller son today and a few phone calls! A sure sign they are coming home tomorrow. The last day feels like it goes on for a week.
6) Had a good tidy round and cleaned the kitchen. All paperwork etc done so feel all is in order before sons get back.
Off to the Black County tomorrow to see my uncle (94). As dad is driving, this includes lunch at Bathams!
Just listening to the weather and that it is the hottest here since 2003. Yes, that would be when I was 42 weeks pregnant with smaller son!0 -
1) was given 2 lottie grown courgettes by office-mate
2) dead-headed flowers and generally pottered in the garden this evening
3) crocheted 3 more rows of dd's rug.
4) found something pink that she doesn't want anymore that can be the next row of the rug!
5) both kids ate their packed lunch (a miracle):AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
LFS - I am considering one of those camping showers if I go to Glastonbury next year. Hope you were dressed before your mates came round for the BBQ
Mhags - yep, talking books are the way forward with housework. Harry Potter has helped clean the kitchen and bathroom many times. Sadly not by merely waving his wand
Glad you found the keys, Ampersand
Sounds like you all have some marvellous weather too, long may it last
Yesterday's sadness - a dear friend and colleague lost her beloved husband to cancer. Was so quick and so cruel and too young
Yesterdays pleAsures
1 had to suitcase shopping for a replacement for DDs knack erred one. So up early and on bus to nearest big town. Successfully got v. Jazzy suitcase
2 also got new swimsuit. Was rather pricey designer one, though with 40% off in sale wasn't too bad in the end. It is a 1950s retro look one, I feel like Katherine Hepburn.
3 had coffee in the pretty town square and a brief explore before getting bus back. From rather liking being limited to bus, train and shanks's pony, I think we are ready for a car again. We have that pleasure tomorrow when we move up to the Lot
4 leisurely lunch chez nous with produce bought in big town
5 a walk on the forest track to nearest (smaller) town. DD moaned like bu88ery but it was rather pleasant. It was OHs fault as he lied about the amount of "up" we'd have to do - he does that, if he says something is half a mile you know you have to at least double it. He should just tell us as it is, rather than p us all off
6 any road, we returned once more to outdoor pool. So refreshing on a boiling hot day. DD recovered quickly. We have told her that we won't make her come on holiday with us anymorethough obviously she will always be welcome. I am working on persuading OH to go to Florida in 2 years, she will come then
7 OH and I took a stroll to the bottle bank (we know how to live it up :rotfl:) but it was lovely as there were little groups of first men and then women just sat outside having a chat. I can't imagine that in our close, we all take our chairs outside to chat. It reminds me that the other day we sat in a bar waiting for the bus and suddenly various toddlers and small children appeared to a square by the bar (with parents) to have a run around and a play, then just as suddenly they were taken off home to bed. What a fab ritual that is
Have a lovely day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Loving the French updates vjsmum and that's sad news for your friend. It's a horrid disease.
So hurrah for Friday and all that.....my leisurely time is starting to wane....ready for starting new job....however there appears to be a delay in opening of new place. Will continue to make the most of my time though
Nice phone call with my niece this morning.
Oooooh carbohydrates how I miss you...carrots how I love you! Going to make chicken and veg without the pasta for me tonight...pasta for the carb eaters though.....all I see are carbohydrates....is this normal
Started off as the most beautiful morning but has poured since lunchtime. Good for the garden though, my camellias are blooming outside my bathroom window! Shame that's where they are but lovely to look at!
Had a saunter up to the library and watched Holby and one episode of Corrie! Borrowed another talking book. I love our library, love that its so close and love that I can just sit there and use their Internet and of course can borrow books/ mags/ DVD
Hurrah that an antipodean crone has found her keys! Where were they ampersand? There is nothing worse than misplacing something...you start to doubt your own mind....or maybe that's just me!
Happy farewells kittikins and skinto enjoy your holiday.
Happy Friday everyone!0
