Yay, lots of lovely rain here now as well :) I've got lots of windows and the kitchen door open so I can listen to it and hopefully cool down a bit!

Chicken - her landlord is her mother. :-/ More music blaring today. It has got to the point that I am really glad when it rains because it drives her inside out of the garden!

    Pleasures for yesterday.

    1) No trip to Brum so we went to the cinema instead to watch Monsters University.

    2) Sons did some scootering and I made duck and hoisin wraps for a picnic.

    3) Went to B and Q for the new cabinets for the kitchen.

    Pleasures for today

    1) Sons are at their father's for a week so lots of funny texts from smaller son. :-)

    2) Changed the beds, 2 loads of washing done, tidied up etc.

    3) Ebay man brought my "new" work surface round. Too long to go in the house as it is so it is on the garden path, wrapped in tarpaulin!

    4) Went into town briefly with my mum.

    5) Fish and chips from the travelling bus.

    6) Watched Return of the Jedi again.

    1. God has watered the garden for me. :)

    2. Cooking with the windows and doors open, with just the sound of the rain.

    3. A spontaneous hug from our toddler DGD.

    4. Runner beans and peas from the garden for dinner.

    5. More green tomatoes gently blushing.

Pattered around a village festival today - recognised a lot of faces, exchanged a lot of smiles. Lads all a credit to me (and very solicitous of Dad, who is in a plaster cast & was visibly happier for a bit of time out in the still-unexpected sunlight) and all made much of!

Managed a library raid - the lads now reckon they're all too old for the Summer Reading scheme, (drat) but still keen & got loads of books out. (Possibly grown into reading for fun without a Scheme's bribery - pity as I liked the medals but a major win for the librarians even if it doesn't reward their statistics.):A

Got a lot of support with my intention to learn to use a spinning wheel. I've struggled with a drop spindle, and when the opportunity to try a real wheel came up - well, I grabbed it. The family assure me I swear less per yard...

Perched and watched a works cricket match - great fun and friendly as I see most of the older players as how I first met them, decades ago. Loads of cheerful banter, and my role as First Aider almost totally uncalled upon.

Steamed haggis for supper, and was congratulated by the menfolk. (I think they were ravenous, but unusually polite about it.)

Have been asked to consider applying to be an Assistant Leader for Scouts rather than Parent Helper. Very gratified, and not at all sure I have the inner calm - if they can teach me that...
  • I see the softies have done they work. like design engineers, Softies are the same. Cannot see lines in the sand and keep changing things for the sake of hitting switches.

Ooooh &. Hope you got your keys. Got to say the story of the single mum getting £45, one does ponder the Bishops motive. As when Mum BoP was around, those who did not see the plate, were given the rotten fruits in class. One cannot allow the Bishop to hold the poor box again. Another from cloths of gold yesterday wanting those who have two houses or digs to pay more. Well, I had two places, paid an extortion to work. What does the man of cloth want from this. Silly fools should look at getting people out of poverty. Oh, they had a campaign for that some days back and failed.

5 Took Ms BoP for her harris checks yesterday. It is ok as she did not pop. Seems she will has to have two mopre afore BoP gets checked again. The audacity was, she used my private chambers.

4 Fumigated my private chamber. Cannot have too many users otherwise I shall remove the seat.

3 Tooo many Crewe butchers at the Hospital. One poor lad obviousl had too much water and the thing was out of his head. A call to the Vet would had been more humane.

2 Chuff charteris is at T-13 days. Neck, rub in. Ooops seems that Kitts P45 has beaten mine. Bet mine is nice and crinkly though.

1 Do not sit and yawn, while another pipe and wobbleade is sought. Or another chapter in the novel is read. Never shut eye in the chair. Climb the stair and tuck yersen in.

    Bonjour!!!!

Here we are after a marathon 2 day train journey, in our Pyrenean gite. The OH is snoring beside me and I am about to get up and go to buy croissants. So,pleasures for the last two days

1 our Friday journeys went like clockwork, smooth connections and no stress. I love Eurostar, it is so civilised. Far superior to flying.
    2. J and I went exploring in Lille, leaving V to have a showe and chill. We had a beer (me) and a crepe (J) in a bar in the square and then got drenched in a huuuuge storm while we walked round and round in circles trying to find our way back to the hotel :rotfl:
    3 theOH turned up :T
4 nice meal in a lovely restaurant, marred only by the fact that the ever dramatic V couldn't decide what to order "oh, I will not have anything" (imagine back of hand to forehead) so we ordered her a risotto, that when it came was BLACK  oops it was squid ink, :rotfl: she ended up witha tuna sandwich from a supermarket :p
5 got to Eurostar station yesterday morning in the most HORRIFIC storm, thunder, lightning, horrendous rain. Somehow we managed to stay dry.
6 train was delayed by storm being even worse in Belgium, but we got our connections ok
7 did my "pied piper" act with small boy sat opposite me on TGV. Kids are tutting "I don't know how you do it" neither do I. He was amazing, under 2 years old and spoke French and Swedish (dad is Swedish)
8 the final leg of our marathon journey was the worse, after taking train through some stunning mountain scenery, we had to walk a mile to the village. V's overpacked bag ("I just can't leave anything behind" - imaginary back of hand to forehead, once more), gave up the ghost and its wheels collapsed. OH and kids strode ahead to sort out house and I dragged collapsed bag slowly up hill. The pleasure was that owner of house came in car and rescued me:T
9 v retired dramatically to bed (don't know why, it was me that dragged the chuffing thing) and we had lovely meal of French bread, cheeses, owners made us up a salad and, best of all, put a chilled bottle of white in the fridge :T:T
    10. We are here, but I hope that fricking abbey bell shuts up soon :rotfl:

Have a lovely Sunday, all. I am going to fetch croissants
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Good morning all !

VJsmum :rotfl:a career on the stage beckons for V me thinks. It sounds like you are having fun though

Frith - I expect she wouldn't be able to manage a tenancy otherwise??? Still accountable for noise nuisance and antisocial behaviour You might need to keep a diary for Env. Health . When the issues occured, dates, times, what happened and how you felt following each issue, what action you had taken e.g asked to turn music down, ignored etc. You may not be the only one who is on the receiving end of these issues . Other neighbours may be too.

    5 for yesterday

    1. Lazy day

    2. Mooched about in town with OH until "foot drop" put pay to that. Ended up hopping - would have been in good company as the town was full of Morris Dancers :rotfl:

    3.Lovely storm here :D

    4. Roast was lovely as not had one in ages . Had some peas from the garden with it.

    5. Terrier has plonked herself here for two days . She is so unfaithful to my DM ! Now lying on my sheepskin on the sofa.

Right off to make a steak and mushroom pie and some cheese straws.

Have a lovely day all !

VJsmum - your V sounds very like my younger sister - just a natural drama queen!

    1) More smoked salmon and HM seed bread for brunch: I'm making a serious effort to run down the contents of the freezer, which means eating my way through all the SO smoked fish I got a few months ago, darn it. ;)

    2) NSD and NPD, for the second day in a row.

    3) Watched the grand prix, then the paralympic athletics, although the coverage of the athletics proved rather irritating: I don't want to watch endless interviews with the athletes' families, I want to watch the sport!

    4) Blackbirds, sparrows and a wood pigeon enjoying the food I put out, and my fox hiding from the weather on the shed roof.

    5) Absolute, blissful silence from the flat upstairs, unlike this time last week! ;)
Back after a very long break!

    1. Finding a quiet bench in the busy park where I sat and read my book while the dog explored.

    2. No need to water the garden again this evening.

    3. Sweet peas.

    4. A simple salad waiting for dinner.

    5. The sounds of seagulls, pigeons cooing, church bells and birds through the open windows.

    Good evening all !

    bizzylizzy - lovely post

CCP- there must be something in the air . I am using up freezer contents too.

    6 for today

    1. Slept for England this morning, as woke in the early hours to hear the tv was still on and the Time Warp was blaring out . So I watched the Rocky Horror Picture show. I have seen it at the theatre it is a lot more kinky on tv circa 1975 !

2.Made a HM steak and mushroom pie and some cheese straws with left over puff pastry .

    3. Roasted some courgettes picked from the garden to have with mashed potatoes and the steak pie.

4.Took terrier to the park this evening. Nice and cool for her.

    5. Free Kindle books one is the Quran translated into English. I have been after this for a while . One of those things I feel I need to do to challenge "what I think I know" about it which will confirm that I clearly don't much at all.:o

    6. Managed 30 mins on exercise bike.

Have a good evening all !
