I thought Mr Ben was ace! I was born in 1975, I wonder if you'd get the reference if you were born in the early 1960's? No good mentioning it to him if he doesn't get it!0

Arrrrr. Frith a proper beard rub. Shivers down your spine from the neck.
Rite, that is yous lot all tingling then. Had to do do cos & has nicked the remote control and I cannot get the spare to work on the Yellow thing.
Hugs and chilli spines to all. Oh, we had an indulgence of chocolate cake this morn.
No pleasures as away from Ms Wrack.0 -
Evening all.
Here's a quick two lots of five pleasures, before I fall asleep:
Yesterday:
1) Smoked salmon for breakfast - bought on SO of course, as getting it for half or less of the usual price seems to make it taste better.
2) A pleasant afternoon mooching through the Hampshire countryside with my DM. It's just so nice to have a car and two feet that I can rely on, after so many problems with both.
3) Found a possible volunteering opportunity. I was rather put off voluntary work by a bad experience a few years ago, so it's nice to find something I'm really enthusiastic about again.
4) Worked out the final cost of a hotel stay next month and it's less than £25 a night for a good 3* hotel after all the discounts and cashback are taken into account. I'm pleased with that. :money:
5) A pleasant meal out with my DPs, served by a lovely waitress. It's a shame the food wasn't as good as the service, and that the after-dinner coffee was so strong even a couple of sips left me struggling to sleep last night (hence tonight's sleepiness).
Today:
1) Took back some shoes I'd bought online which didn't fit, and the shop assistant took an instant liking to them so I think they've got a new home!
2) Received my c0-0p divi vouchers - all £42 of them.:money: (Paying the deposit for my new car on a cashback credit card accounts for a lot of that!)
3) Paid in the cheque my grandmother sent me for my birthday, which means I can now buy the new solar lamps I want for my garden, as my existing ones are on their last legs.
4) Spent part of the afternoon at work listening to the tennis commentary while doing a dull data-entry job. (A pleasure until I forgot I had the earphones in and nearly strangled myself with the cord by reaching across to my in-tray with them still in my ears, anyway.)
5) A soggy evening which a) means I don't have to water the garden and b) gives me a good excuse not to go to the pub quiz so I can have an early night.Back after a very long break!0 -
mhagster & frith I was born in 67 and I loved Mr Ben, it was so exciting to see where he'd end up( I lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere...its amazing what you find fun! Then again I can remember only having two channels:D)
1. Trip to town and wholesale onions:D
2. Best mate for tea (not in a cannibalistic way of course, no meat on him!)
3. New potato chips..exploring more ways to eat potatoes:p
4. Rain is filling my butts! And they are BIG butts:o
5. I can hear OH snoring in the bath!! Definitely grinworthy:D
6. Strawberries from roadside stall where I used to go with my dad:)

Evening
Pleasures for today
1. Only working (well being in the office can't say much work went on) a half day today
2. Bought very cute outfit for new GN and was all 50% off:money:
3. Had a volunteer briefing session to go to and found a bus that would drop me off right outside the door much better than 2 trains and a 20 minute walk. Really interesting meeting and I feel much more confident out what is expected of me on Sunday.
4. Lift home from another volunteer who lives not far from me so saved me an hour return journey on the bus.
5. OH and DD had eaten all the chilli I made this morning but managed to find a portion of chicken chowmein in the fridge left over from dinner a couple of nights ago so had that reheated.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
What a day!
Here are my pleasures. Some of them are double edged swords:
1) Phoned smaller son's present school and no, they don't know where his new school will be. They told smaller son by accident. They are writing a report to back him going to possible new school and will send me a copy.
2) Took bigger son to the orthodontist in Hereford. It is only 30 miles away but possibly the slowest roads in the world! With the parking as well, it takes about an hour each way. Anyway, had a look at the x ray of bigger son's teeth. Son and I agreed afterwards that, once we started looking at his X ray, neither of us listened to the consultant any more! The upshot was his teeth are OK enough that he does not need to see him for 12 months. :-)
3) Had lunch at our favourite cafe in Hereford.
4) Drove bigger son to school then popped into Sainsburys.
5) Spent SIX HOURS mending the laptop. Things that didn't work before (MS Office, printer, Firewall and many other odd bits) are now all fixed.
The reason I needed to fix it was to print a couple of photos of sons to put in former mother-in-law's birthday card (polishes halo).
6) Did HM pizza and HM chips for tea.
7) Enjoyed watching new Big Bang Theory earlier on.
Can't believe how many hours of the day were taken up achieving very little!0 -
1. Sunshine
(but shame I cba'd to bring some washing in off the line before it turned to drizzle....oh well!)
2. G had a very relaxing interview but won't find out about the job until next week. It will have done wonders for her anyway getting that experience.
3. Full and frank discussion at church home group tonight, something was bothering a few of us so we were able to have a good chat and pray about it over a cuppa and yummy biccies!
4. Hugs from DD - really my 1-100
5. She's getting excited about her visit to her new school next week
6. Watching Who were the Greeks? on iplayer0 -
chicken thank you
tealady have helped myself to one, thank you
BoP not a great fan of beards but would love a crumb of chocolate cake if there's one left. Comfort food
lfs have pinched one of yours too
Thank you, feeling much better for that
1. dusted everywhere, wiped down all wipeable surfaces
2. shopping trip with friend was postponed so it was a nsd/npd
3. was just going to mow the lawn this afternoon but it started to rain so I sat with my book til I nodded off. A real pleasure
4. a fresh roll with peanut butter
5. I've exchanged emails with someone. Not exactly OS due the type of medium, but nice that he wants to meet for a cuppa and there's nothing wrong with a visit to a garden centre, is there?
Sweet dreams0 -
Sparrer - have another one ((((hug)))) you deserve it0
-
Not sure quite how OS these are, but
Enjoying the glossy rooftiles on an old cottage on my commute into work. Odd, it doesn't look as magical in the sunshine, but drenching rain & it's a little gem.
Getting my husband an appointment to sort his sore foot (he's been being stoic & head-in-the-sand - now we can make progress!)
Planning what to see in Portsmouth with the opportunities the Armed Forces Weekend will make possible (HMS Defender *and* HMS Westminster!) We were going anyway, but this is an extra treat! What's happening near you?
Researching Sainsburys store locations with fuel so I can get both reliable fuel & nectar points to & from Portsmouth...
Looking up how to make a niddy-noddy (I shaped stick for winding spun wool onto for ease of washing, dyeing etc) as a present for a spinning friend.0
