Thanks chicken i have entered angry stage. Cant decide if i'm most angry with me, her or the boyfriend. As my mum always sez this too shall pass. Still feels very strange without my wedding ring though...
    1) weight still coming down despite all your tempting recipes
    2) lovely walk to work
    3) lots of hugs from male friends (sadly all gay or attached)
    4) ceilidh on the unicorn (old boat docked at dundee) to celebrate friend of bassist's successful defence of phd
    5) one of his supervisors is from the dept i used to work in so was great to catch up. He sez i must call round some time but have to bring a poem (i used to write a silly verse every week to invite bods to the pub on a friday)
Oo dr c looks scrummy. Now i am no longer the accidental lesbian, bring on the men ;-)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Morning all, and thanks for the birthday wishes. :) I have almost recovered from a not-very-pleasant start to my birthday, when my phone rang in the early hours of this morning with an automated message from one of these flippin' insurance claim services. Sadly I don't think it's possible for an automated message to do what I told it to do... ;)

BoP has made a very generous present of sunshine - thanks, Bop :) - and I see we have a new friend - welcome Silver_Lining. :hello:

And happy birthday for yesterday Frith.
Back after a very long break!

Happy, Happy birthday to CCP...hope the day improves !

well....no car...chicken....OH needs daylight to have a good look at it so he is taking a day off on Friday. It was working on Sunday and just wouldn't start on Monday. Bought a new battery but that hasn't helped. Anyway....back to public transport...I'm getting used to it now! I know where to get off the bus for the train station and I only had 2 minutes to wait for a train and it's only 2-3 minutes to my station.

We are awaiting with bated breath to see who our Prime Minister will be. A leadership ballot being held as I type.

Work was okay...just kept my head down, kept my mouth shut and worked! I need the money! My co-working nemesis was not in a happy mood today (sadly...and I don't like this in myself....but it gives me a little pleasure!!)

My poor DD2 has had a pants day again. I have filled out the form for referral to Educational Psychologist. To hand in tomorrow....only 2 days until 2 weeks off school. Hopefully she will get some coping strategies to deal with the crap she is getting on a daily basis by a core group of foul mouthed biatches!

DD1 got good grades in her exams.Reports are due out , once I have DD2's I can apply to other school.

Son has handed more CVs out...hopefully he gets something.

Payday.....and pay back out! Bills, bills and more bills had to be paid!

    Have a lovely day!

Please may I excuse self for shabby late catch-ups on both Bonne Anniversaires? frith yesterday and ccp today, all day long, BUT, yesterday was my No Putah Day.

frith - I switched it on now because of you, as I have just been hearing this compelling Book of the Week on R4, painstakingly written by a very artlculate autistic Japanese boy: The Reason I Jump

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b02yksnv

i-player will allow catch-ups, another pleasure. Hooray for smaller son at school. Hooray for both sons and a Great Birthday No.38 had by sound of things. I need more trellis too. Underwater i-pad sounds v.adventurous

    1. nsd/ncd and almost npd, but for taking it to local garage re:fitting exhaust back box, which was being done @8am today. However, have just had call that 8" missing pipe section is going to be dearer to fix, slower, but new one can be in this arvo. As I feared, we're heading into 3 figs after all and I don't have car, so am hamstrung sorting/loading in timely fashion for Spits. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.

    2. Call from next week's Fair peep replying to em of mine and just paid stand over phone too. For some reason, their pdf docs never download. Another £85...

3.....after more SSE mess with leccie and gas. I'd received a disconnection letter:eek: Held it at arm's length as if it were a contaminant. They'd changed their Banky bits and I spent several hours on Mon on phone with them, trying to make online things work and find old money swilling in some black hole of theirs. The online a/c still doesn't work, but SO's are now correctly re-set. £20 weekly for one person...

    4. I'm moaning on, for which apologies. Yesterday had Wimbledon on radio, more planting, 3 snail mail letters/1 parcel, handwritten and posted, occasional sunthen jolly victory for Little Country in close exciting match of willow on leather.

    5. Tests all done yesterday and def. improvement continues.

    6. Lunch after this[no brekkie yet] including ripe intact protected strawberries.

    7. Baby birds' bathing, feeding, fearlessness and closeness continues and is lovely to be out with, but it's gloomy so far today bop. Need cardy too.

    8. NZ Uncle will have brace fitted to broken leg and Aunt hopes this means they can get out and about in car, although he will remain in respite place another 4 weeks.

    9. Hearing 'nother personal hero Richard Mabey now: Mabey in the Wild
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/on-air

    - and yesterday was Monty Don's Shared Planet here:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b02ykrd1

-and this morning, Tracy Mackness on Midweek, was an extraordinary turn-life-around story after 6yrs' imprisonment. Ties in with ghosted biog, of course, says & cynically.

dd- it is all progress. Let that poem be a stonker.

Very Warm welcomes, Silver Lining and DFV - would you like to wrest control of remote from bop and switch on The Yellow Thing please? As our latest newbies, you should manage to sneak up on him unknown.

lfs you are not alone in Hi Ho ref,

-but I'll squeeze in another moan. Entirely my own fault, managed to snap a 4' standard fuchsia that was almost toppling from heavy flower mass, clean through, about a foot above ground. Said Rude Words very loudly, rare for moi, but it still didn't jump back together. Quickly stripped a few heels off and have used rooting powder to pot them up, but no real likelihood of them taking.
    Ah well.

Where IS the Yellow Thing? Can't function until it comes on.

Hadn't seen your post mhags, but heard Rudd in, Gillard out, as I typed. She'll have more time to finish knitting that Big Red kanga for Kate and Will's baby.

  • Good morning everyone,

I am new to blogging, but thought I'd give it a go!

He's a little story about the humble Pigeon -

It is all a question of live and let live as far as the Wood Pigeons go.
Their annual foray into the large trees at the edge of the garden always coincides with the thrusting through of the first vegetable garden seedlings.
Your average courting Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus – also called Woodpigeon without the hyphen) has a voracious appetite and they will completely destroy the gardener’s hard work in a quick morning visit.
A friend, who is a keen exhibitor at the local Flower and Vegetable Show has no patience with them at all – “Flying vermin” he calls them, and at the first sign of a few scruffy sticks thrust into the branches of a nearby tree he is out with a probably totally illegal long pole on what he calls a “Discouragement visit”.

We tend to try a damage limitation exercise with branches of birch trimmings laid over the sensitive new green spikes – I’m told this works with cats as a deterrent, but our two Springer sisters would probably have the same effect.

The dogs are banned from the vegetable garden as they would do more damage chasing one of the grey invaders.

So we enjoy the gentle cooing and laugh at the amateur attempts at the first nest from the younger birds, and chase off any persistent visitors when we see them.

Fledglings are everywhere at the moment with a family of Greenfinches (Carduelis chloris) investigating the bird feeding station at the front of the house as a family group – they of course enjoy the mixed seed in the feeders – spilling a fair amount for the other birds on the ground.

"The accidental lesbian" - there's the title of your autobiography, DD :)
Ampersand, I heard Tracey Mackness on midweek. Remarkable
    Welcome, Newbies
    Happy Birthday Frith and CCP
    Hugs to all

    Today's pleasures

    1. Groan - staff development day. We've slipped down the league tables. "No point in moaning about how unfair it is, what are we going to do to make it better. No-one choosing courses for their child cares that it's unfair". This was my statement to my assembled colleagues, for which I was roundly applauded :o
    2. Free lunch - and it was edible :T
    3. VC's reception tonight - free pimms and cake :T
    4. Home alone. DS and OH gone to a train "thing", DD rehearsing - I have to fetch her later. TIme to sort myself and pack, my ruckie isn't too heavy
    5. The weather forecast for Glastonbury :j

So that's me outta here till Monday (unless it's hideous, but as several of my faves aren't on till Sunday I am guessing we'll stick it out). Have a good weekend all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
