    1) Had a nice chat with a very nice lady from the Cat Protection League and have provisional approval to adopt a cat from them. :j I'm not planning on doing anything about it until the autumn, but it's good to know that I can when I want to.

    2) Took a dodgy jar of peanut butter back to W8rose and they exchanged it even though I didn't have the receipt or any other proof that I had bought it there in the first place. :T

    3) Got my new office chair :) - and it's faulty. :( A colleague looked at it and, unprompted, spotted the problem straight away - it's a pleasure to know that I wasn't imagining things! (It would be even more of a pleasure to have a chair that didn't leave me whimpering with pain by the end of the day, but hey ho - one step at a time!)

    4) Took advantage of a £5 off voucher to do one of my periodic big online shops. :money:

    5) Prawn curry and rice for dinner tonight, just right for a miserable evening.
Back after a very long break!

Really bop - as if you need to ask.
ASBO Lasts Until She Who Must Be Obeyed Says.

Now, switch that yellow thing on, 4a.m. merci.

    1. Bit of a careen in w8rs, so taken off field of play and Spitalfields thus substituted for balance/scans tomorrow. So silly when I'm not ill, although head remains full, feels distant, voice unlovely. Safe here now, bed soon. But not before happy reflect on another little w8rs coup. Petit Filous rtc39p, BUT £1 off per 2. Thus 22 nice pennies to take each pair away. Didn't even know, but had 20 in trolley[loads left]to share out en route back.

    2. I'm as un-patient as Uncle. Rang Aunt again this morning. Her fury. Poured her a virtual wee tot, before she did actual for herself. Uncle again got up in night, in unfamiliar surroundings - 'didn't want to bother anyone'....you can imagine the rest. Cousin, senior nursing tutor, was in there @ 7a.m. reading the Riot Act to him.
I suspect we are all, includes all of you dear readers, we are all pretty much the same. from sparrer's maman onwards. It's the old thing of applying own sound advice for others, to oneself. He just MUST let the bone knit before trying anything else. He's very lucky it's a clean break, but 89 is 89 and he's had several falls in the last year..

    3. Timing went belly-up today. Kept meeting peeps who needed time/chat/problem-share, but that's fine. I'm glad to have seen them all and caught up beforehand, in view of what happened later. Extra pleased to see J again, looking so well, 2 years in job now after hopeless many spent going down tube. Unlikely partnership has brought salvation, upward path and reassuring solidity to both. It's a total pleasure to be in their company.

    4. Told Aunt of your kind wishes, vjm and dd, and she thanks you sincerely, thinks Thread sounds wonderful. I'm going to introduce her to mse online, as I have done my Fitzwilliam tale and that site. This will appeal strongly to her interests.

    5. Realising I am no longer on edge re: putah and posting here. Don't know how I fixed it, but I have. Thus, have unwittingly earnt my Frith Cistern Badge, not entry level, for I, too, effected a cistern/flush repair, with a £1.79p piece of plastic thingy a few years back. Most gratifying it was.

    6. 'Rain stopped play' - and little country breathes again. Better for us than for Oz, always a schadenfreude moment for we more southern antipodeans.

    7. Dear neighbour loved w8rs lilies, rtc99p, from£7. Scent divine. She is one of Life's saints. Leaving price on is part of the fun.

    8. ccp - the wind had knocked a rosebush off w8rs display. Picked it up and obviously thought of you:
    http://www.davidaustinroses.com/english/showrose.asp?showr=498

Safe goodnights to all. There's a strong sense of town affected by Henry Cecil's death, as with trainer DW met in w8rs and 2 others today.

    #######
Bop's put new batteries in the remote. On verra.

p.s. to 5. - need to train up for Pickaxe Path Proficiency badge.

    1. Managed to laugh at the sight of most of my washing that I left out in the rain blowing off the line onto the lawn! Oh well, it can be washed again or, if I cba, it's all stuff that will ultimately go to a rag bag rather than be stored, so once dry I'll decide what to do with it!

    2. Booked 2 games of bowling online to save molto money.

    3. Was crowned the best mummy in the world when I picked DD up from school and told her that we were going bowling as a big treat as we hadn't done much over the half term and we needed to go and have some fun :)

    4. Was very good and combined the trip with taking back a LOT of clothes to a shop which I ordered online and didn't like/didn't fit/panicked about the cost etc......

    5. Also took DD for cheapy dinner before 5pm at PHut - full tummies, lots of salad, giggles and chats and it was £12 for the pair of us, not bad!

    6. DD kindly showed a little boy who was in the next lane how to use the frame :)

    7. The school I really wanted to go and spend two weeks in at the beginning of term came back to me and said they'd be very happy to have me :):) I'm hoping I can go for the inset days as well, as otherwise I'll have to find 2 days later in the term - blooming government requirements!

    8. I'm reading an amazing ghost story for children, so loving this part of the preparation for my course!

    9. I've got to plan lots of lovely Latin for my current school, as what I thought was a throwaway, yes, I could show pupils some Latin is turning into me and a teacher spending the whole day with some Y10 pupils teaching Latin!!! Gulp. She can do the hard stuff, I'll do the fun bits :)

    10. Good chat with the parentals :)

I don't know if I want a cistern badge named after me! But readers could work towards their "Filling in holes in the path with MrN's tarmac and getting passing workmen to take away your rubble level 1"

Kittikins - I've got a GCSE in Latin! Unlikely, but true.

Here are my pleasures for today.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Was at the swimming pool with brother by 8.20!

    3) Brother in law here 10.00 and we dug out the worst bits of tarmac path and filled them in. Not a neat job and we think our patches will soon break up. However, it may stop us all tripping over the stop !!!! cover things that stood up proud of the path that were a hazard and *may* stop the 2 big puddles that form in the rain.

And the men working in the road re-tarmacking the big holes swept up the rubble for me and took it away on their truck!

    4) Popped down to mum and dad's for a cup of tea. Obviously forgot to take the pick axe and spade back. Walked brother's dog.

    5) Bigger son did lots of homework. Has been a battle to get him to do any recently but I now have a cardboard motte and bailey castle in front of me and the start of a report about castles.

    6) Took sons for a walk and they took their go kart.

    7) Avoided the rain.

    8) Enjoyed watching Springwatch and have Holby waiting for me later.

    9) Asked my dad earlier if he wanted to be taken to a National Trust day on father's day. Ferrets and hawks so just his type of thing!

    10) Working towards Reinstalling Ms Office for the 4th time to see if it will work level 1....

Ooooh, GCSE Latin Frith, I may call upon you for ideas! The stuff I have is more for primary school children, so they may be snooty (as it'll probably be the G&T language learners who come to our day of Roman Fun!)
  • Oooooooooh& I love you. It will last forever.

Now, for yous others, hugs and beeer hugs, and squeezes for you all.

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. NSD
    2. Nice chat with someone at work and encouraging them to go for a promotion that they will be really good at, I think he knew this but just needed someone to tell him.
    3. Spent a pleasant half hour at work browsing holidays, think may have found a perfect one for us just need OH to confirm he can get the time off. Keeping fingers crossed.
    4. All pitching in to cook dinner last night and there was no arguing just laughing and silliness in the kitchen whilst we worked. Plus there is enough of the chicken chowmein for me to have for lunch today.
    5. Planning a day out with DD that she is fat too old for but know we will have a great day and the tickets were free. She is so excited at the thought of going to Lego land for the day in a couple of weeks you would think she was 7 not 17 :p

Hugs to all who need them

    1) Told my line manager about the problem with my new chair and she laughed - I've got something of a reputation as the person inanimate objects love to hate. :o I think she then felt guilty about laughing as she's agreed to let me work from home tomorrow - which isn't usually allowed - as I've got a report to write for a senior committee and I'll do it better if I'm not constantly whimpering about how much my back hurts.

    2) Sun out here, too - thanks BoP!

    3) Caught the last game of the Murray match from Queen's. :j

    4) Chicken satay noodles for dinner tonight - one of my favourite quick meals that always tastes like it took much longer to make than it actually does.

    5) Pub quiz tonight, where I'll try not to complain too much about my painful back. :o
Back after a very long break!
