CCP - thank you! I didn't think it unreasonable, but she thought in these fee paying times, it gave him some ammunition for complaint.
LFS - with my very childish sense of humour "cheesy baps" made me :rotfl:
Kittikins - how fantastic of your DD to make risotto :T

    Today's pleasures

    1. Had an hour doing not much this morning before the MIL arrived for the weekend. Was going to run round tidying but, sod it, spent an hour on MSE instead
    2. Lovely chat with my lovely butchers
    3. Made a yummy potato dish to go with lovely farm shop sausages
    4. MIL brought beautiful flowers :T
    5. Watching Concerto with OH - Rachmaninov tonight.

    Have a good night all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Quick 5 pleasures for me:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Smaller son had a good day at school and bigger son went on a trip to Kenilworth Castle. I remembered the part uniform/part own clothes, rucksack, packed lunch, mac, pens - but forgot to give him some spending money! Luckily his friend Molly gave him a £ so he was able to get some fudge.

    3) Bigger son's snorkel came from Ebay so he and smaller son ran the bath full tonight and have been "scuba diving" in there. :-)

    4) I went into town and looked round all the charity shops (there must be 10?) but didn't find anything interesting.

    5) Popped into what I thought was a little roadside plant stall on the way home. Have driven past it hundreds of times. Turns out it is a 1 man operation and, when you go through the gates behind the few trays out on display, it goes on for about an acre! So bought a few bits from there.

    6) HM pizza and wedges for tea.

    7) We went to bingo in the village hall with my brother. It is run by the local primary school so very informal. Bigger son won one game and his prize was potatoes, broccoli, carrots and some pork chops! We had to stop playing at one point because another school child had gone to the loo and we couldn't hear the caller over their singing! :-D

    8) Bigger son did his geography homework (albeit very half heartedly) so that is all that done now.

    9) Bath and bed for me just now and the Now Show.

Going out with mum tomorrow afternoon to a herb garden that her friends have run for 30 years. They have lots of medals from Chelsea. Also doing some ebay sales for my sister. On Sunday I am taking dad to a National Trust event for father's day.

    Collection.
Your pleasures have added a lot to mine, reminding me of smaller linked similar ones.

    1. Claim for tax credit renewal arrived, filled in and posted back. I think they owe me a lot of money after my income dipped last year, they won't rush themselves to pay me but I can plan better if I know it is en-route.

    2. Various little YS money-saving bargains all of which make life a little more enjoyable. Especially the white-green chrysanths from A!di

    3. A bottle of Warsteiner beer in Mr T's. This is a lovely lager, has been hard to find over here, treated myself to one.

    4. A spiced fruit loaf brought to my door still warm - hot even - from the breadmaker as a thank you for a small, half forgotten favour. So often things are promised but don't materialise, this promise materialised in 36 hours - and was eaten in much less.

    5. Looked across at the park opposite in evening sunlight as I brought the trike in from shopping and felt blessed to have it as my view as I so often do. Lots of avian action and cheeping from the hedges, hope all the birds have bred well.

    6. Tony Robinson now a Sir. That is cool. Clare Balding's long overdue honour sorted. Two national treasures honoured in one go. Whoo-hoo!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Ooooohhhh & I relish the fort. Seems my ASBO has upset my broadband connection. I fixed the Yellow thing and our new phone service is rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

They have changed phone number and cancelled broadband. So I am sending hugs everywhere, but will catch you lot up after.

Good news Aunts are here, not tearing like tow old tarts. Oh, and on the games nites we are having. Your fab BoP is undefeated! At Scrabble, trivial pursuit and the Really Nasty Horse Epracing Game.

Morning all, hope everyone is okay, hugs all round. Been a bit (understatement) manic these past few days, limping around in the car looking at other cars, while unable to visit DM as I daren't risk the smelly gearbox for that distance.

    1. Found a car yesterday, hopefully I pick it up on Tuesday
    2. Insurance/breakdown cover. Existing company wanted twice what I'm paying now, it's a similar car just a lot newer. Shopped around - why does it take so long to go through all the comparison sites? - eventually found one with breakdown and all the bells and whistles, so to speak, included for less than I'm paying now.
    3. Thanking my one stroke of common sense that I put away the lump sum part of my pension for when I needed a 'new' car. Now there's no more in the pot so this one has to last for ever!
    4. Apart from the big spend of yesterday, have had 4 nsd's this week
    5. Phoning DM every day, she's fought back from her heart attack amazingly, almost back to her [STRIKE]cantankerous[/STRIKE] spirited self! I'm so grateful for my DB being near her, he's had a heart attack and is in remission from cancer himself but he's visited her every day, sorted out a new f/f for her so she can have a meal company deliver to her, dealt with appointments, her meds etc. He's an amazing 71 y/o :)
sneaky 6 - yellow thing is out there so I'm going into the garden to join it

    Have a sunny day :)

46 minutes into the loop with BT dot con. The soooooothing music has started. Greensleeves!

Think I will request Eddie and the Hot Rods. Telephone Girl!

Oh no, now playing Nessan Dorma. Sounds awfull on the mobile! Wonder of they can get their engineers to climb the telegraph poles or will Elfin Saftee preclude this!

Hello, it's Saturday bedtime here, so will post this and then head to bed with a new library book!

Get the grumpy part out of the way and then go onto pleasures. Work has been abysmal .....staff dynamics , someone who is not my boss being very bossy in the bosses absence , me not dealing with it very well and generally just having a horrid time at work!

Woke up on Wednesday with labyrinthitis and no balance .....so had a couple of horrible dizzy days and whooshy feeling every time I moved my head ....this and hormones probably did not help my work situation. It's not generally in my nature to feel hateful towards someone and I don't like feeling like this!

    Anyway, the nice things:

My boy is 18, managed in a state of dizziness to make a cake, make meringues and a lasagne for a birthday tea. Table all set beautifully ( slight horror when I realised I did not possess birthday napkins....I have a shelf of napkins for all occasions other than this!!) we enjoyed a nice dinner and had sparklers instead of candles.

Went to city today and went to art gallery....ampersand thought of you in the Asia gallery....lots of Ming china. Looked at some of the modern art with amazement and wondered why it's art? I like a picture to look like a picture!!

Had a nice lunch in an Irish bar, hot chocolate in a coffee shop and then the train home. We missed the frequent heavy showers of rain.

Got photos developed .....off my phone....the wonders of modern technology, I'm such a technophobe so thank goodness for a techy OH! Only 9c a print(5p)

Lovely chats with friends from home.....one 3 hour chit chat tonight!! And one this morning.

Made a few more purchases towards my Christmas gifts! Determined to be organised by August. Need to save up for coming home at Christmas. Thank goodness for mid season sales:)

Wearing my boots, my winter coat, scarf and gloves !!

vjsmum and dundeedoll the $14056 bill (£8573) is for one semester!! $28000 for a year! It works out at $1000 per week of classes!
Because of the type of visa we are on we have to pay international fees....galling as back home it would be free! Not even thinking of 18 months time when DD1 will be due to go! Bread and water all round !

And DD you can pop over whenever you like!

Will this post? Internet connection being dodgy!!
