5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Phew! Busy few days.
Saturday
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went with my brother to a wood fuel day in the forest. Got to have a look round in the new residential block afterwards and watch the squirrels etc out of the windows.
3) Sons spent their pocket money from my mum and dad on some new toy cars.
4) Fish and chips for tea from the travelling bus.
5) Brother, sister and brother in law came round and we all played Dungeons and Dragons (bigger son is the dungeon master!)
6) Casualty.
Today
1) Not a bad sleep!
2) Bacon sandwiches for breakfast.
3) Sons spent HOURS decorating the patio with chalk. There are all sorts of designs on there now.
4) Went to the local town (for more chalk) and I decided on a whim that we should look round the museum. I worked there for 10 years after leaving university (not sure that I've ever mentioned this next bit). In 2006 when I got divorced (ex MrFrith was at that point taking me to court literally every fortnight or so) and 2 of my school friends passed away, I had a nervous breakdown for which I got the sack.
Anyway, I had not been back there since that point (nearly 8 years ago!) but thought I would pop in on a weekend as the permanent staff wouldn't be in. And it was OK. Bigger son remembered bits of it and it has had a lot of lottery funding so good to see some improvements.
5) Made a big curry for tea followed by fruit salad.
6) 2 footballing injuries today! First game (4pm ish) I leaned over to get a stone out of my shoe and smaller son kicked the ball at exactly that moment so booted me in the forehead. (nice bump there now).
Second game (after tea), one or other son pushed me and I managed to stab my thumb with one of the fingernails on the other hand! So limped back to the house with thumb wrapped in a hanky only to bump into MrN in motorcycle gear so had to stop for a chat with him. :-)
Dundeedoll - oh, the Archers. :-(0 -
Quick collection.
1. DD, DGC and Beth the Beautiful Springer over first thing this morning, DGD collecting her small b'day gifts. DGD came in wearing an owl pendant and owl t-shirt. In amongst her little gifts from me - another owl pendant and two pairs of owl earrings.
2. DGS liked his little non-birthday present of a wind up and go top. Dog was fascinated by the top, jumped back when it nicked her nose as she sniffed it. Both children always have a small gift on the other's birthday, I did this for their Mum and Uncle as well.
3. Logged on to a survey site and discovered details of a missing Amazon voucher in my account there. I now have £15 to spend. I'm pleased as having reached the £25 voucher points limit of 867 points on another survey site I discovered the minimum redeem is 1000 points, with the only possible points combo for a claim being some 1090. Grr. More pouncing on every survey to hit the target.
4. Haven't had to wear socks (don't wear tights often) for days, lovely warm weather. No cycling in the sun today but have so enjoyed it this week.
5. Oldest friend has posted on FB that her 80 year old Mum is making a splendid recovery from her 7 hour lung cancer op on Tuesday. Go V.!

5. baking finished and veg prepped for the week.I have been doing this on a Sunday ,barring holidays death, childbirth etc for the past 50 odd years:) I am definitely a creature of habit
Yesterday was no different then in the afternoon I sat and listened to the wireless whilst doing some knitting
Restful and relaxing day topped off by a lovely dinner at my Dds house of roast beef and all the trimmings Life just couldn't get better for me on a Sunday
Cheers chums

Monday afternoon here , about another 45 minutes of daylight left!
I woke up at 7.45 am... That is a very late lie in for me!! Was slightly shocked!
A Monday scone, a Monday hot chocolate sat in front of a Monday log fire at our favourite cafe! Was bloomin'chilly and nice to thaw out
We took a drive into the city and had a wander round the overpriced shops! Even with their mid season sales on they are still too expensive. Nice to look though:)
DD1 wearing a trench ( type) coat , inherited from me that I had bought in an op shop but that I didn't really need! It suits her
We've been lucky with the weather on our long weekend , stayed dry and bright but chilly... Rain forecast for next few days.
Have a lovely Monday0 -
Some great pick-me-up notes to catch here and I see Archers' plot.lit.crit has cranked up many degrees! Heard it while at fête, having first set off for a table-top sale nearby, only to find that had been on Saturday.
Bartelmy - your name sent me direct to Joe Grundy's pony, knowing I wasn't quite right until I auto-corrected to 'Bartleby.'
JackieO - extra marks for 'wireless', with Brownie Bonus Points for 'Home Service'. That, in fact, is an A*.
Remember the Archers Anarchists' motto - 'The Archers Are Real: There Is No Cast.'
Newbies, see website.
1. Just made another water sprinkler, piercing cap of 2l milk container with hot skewer. Works well - gentle for seeds, tiny things.
2. Does £1 reverbe on car floor count?
3. Wearing a new2me purple cardie, long, with pockets - just right, bought@ w/e.
4. Grateful for internet, as I have not long found NZ Aunt's news of beloved Uncle's fall, broken leg and many weeks ahead for recovery. It is he whose 89th birthday I did not fly back for a fortnight ago, opting for 'Think Positive for 90th' visit. I still will.
5. I will speak to NZ tonight.

mcculloch - I've never been able to get anywhere with surveys, although have had long periods of filling them in. I think sparrer's good at them too. How do you accrue vouchers please?
Frith - even more Capital 'C' Congratulations. Another demon faced down and gone is gone. Nothing can phase you these days, even when you're confronted with other people's/institutions' idiocy. What an amazing woman and parent:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I've been feeling tired and irritable all day today - for no particular reason that I can think of - so I'll be struggling a bit this evening.
1) Went into Mr T, which I do at most a couple of times a year, and found my favourite fair trade honey shower gel on special offer, so I bought a couple of bottles as a cheering treat (it's too expensive at full price for me to buy it regularly).
2) Blue brie and cucumber sarnie for lunch, from the IOW food fair stock that I'm gradually working my way through.
:think::think:
3) Bought a new car washing sponge - for the grand total of 34p - so have finally removed the bird poo from the car roof.
4) I've been trying to make a complaint to a film streaming website for some weeks, to which they have responded by completely ignoring me. Today I emailed asking them to close my account and, hey presto, a response - they've refunded my money (all £3.50 of it, but it's the principle that counts!) and given me a free film to watch as well.
:think::think::think:
5) Oh yes - I opened a bottle of wine to go with my bbq on Saturday, so I can have a glass with my dinner tonight.
Yay, made it to five.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hugs CCP, hope tomorrow (or right now!) is better for you x
1. Sunshine - after a long, dull start to the day!
2. Glad I left my washing out as it was nice and dry and fresh-smelling when I brought it in just now. Have put 2 more loads out for tomorrow (I don't care about dew! or ironing or anything else remotely housewifery)
3. Great day at work - found lots of useful resources
4. Meeting after work which promised to be dull and long (well, the others have been) was very swift and not too dull! Hoorah!
5. Managed to declutter the kitchen of more food that we'd nearly finished - the aim is to have as little as possible to take with us when we move, although I do think there'll be a good few kilos of rice to transport!!
6. DD and I had a fab game of Guess Who or whatever its called - she just pipped me at the post.
Remembered another one from yesterday that I don't think I put in....
7. DD bought me some rhubarb from the school fete, one of my favourites - that she doesn't even like herself, what a selfless act0 -
Welcome Bartelmy
Oh CCP, Blue Brie :drool::drool::drool:
Briefly as I'm not supposed to be using the laptop because
1. New bank won't allow me to log on to on line banking, been ongoing for some weeks so made a complaint this evening and have been promised techies will try to sort it out. The fault is definitely my end so they're going into my comp sometime overnight to fix the problem. Been assured they can't access anything except the banking so just have to trust them.
2. Had an excellent drive to Henley and a lovely day with DM
3. Car playing up on way the home this evening (kept losing gears/power plus a terrible smell, been doing it for some weeks but was the worst ever today) so DD and I are going to look at cars tomorrow. Very sad as I love my old Korean job which I've had from new, but nothing lasts for ever.
4. Like CCP I went to Mr T for the first time in ages today, my spread was on offer 241 so bought 4.
5. Sorted out some paperwork and clothes for DM, like me she likes all her little ducks in a row and is happier now it's done
Sweet dreams0 -
