    Evenin' all!

Whilst I seem to spend 6 months of the year moaning about the sun , it was out and about this morning and was such a joy to see!! Not a warm day but so nice to see a blue sky!

No Saturday scone ampersand as we went in a totally different direction today! A customer came into work on Thursday with something that would be perfect for my mum. She kindly left me the details of where she bought it ( with a pretty illustration of it!)
I looked online and could have had it delivered for $10 extra or go directly to shop where they beautifully wrapped it for me. One less Christmas gift to buy.

DD1 and I went to library ... Meant to get just one book out but borrowed four, then we stopped at green grocers via the baker shop and were both laden down with books, fruit and cakes.

Took one of the books, one of the cakes, pulled my boots off and feet up on the sofa .... One Saturday snooze later!!

We didn't do a supermarket shop today as my supermarket is offering a $50 voucher if you spend a certain amount over next 3 weeks. It is running Sunday - Saturday , so we shall shop tomorrow ... There's enough in that we won't starve!!

Have a lovely day. Enjoy your sunshine whatever you get up to... We have the heating on and it will be dark in the next 20 minutes :)

Kittikins - do you have to buy all the books? We don't ask students to buy many. Many books now come in electronic format so there are no borrowing issues. If you do have to buy, then I would look at Amaz0n or the bay of E as people often sell off their books once the courses are finished
McCulloch - you are indeed a good friend.
JackiO - enjoy the cinema. Gatsby?
Skint - happy birthday to DS and good luck in new job

    Yesterdays pleasures

    1. Had an enjoyable supermarket experience. Spent rather a lot in Ald!, which takes some doing, but starting the Glasto stocks and a few storecupboard items. Had left my purse in the car which was :o but the nice cashier just said run and get it. Turned back up breathless and very red faced 2 mins later, queue were v. understanding "it happens to us all".
    2. Lunch with friends and DD who is back to school on Monday so it was her last study leave treat
    3. Got DD some decent jeans - she keeps buying cheap ones which don't last so we went to N*xt and paid a reasonable amount, but hopefully they will last. Paid using 2 gift vouchers of mine, but I will spend them somewhere just not necessarily there.
    4. Had 20 mins in the sun in the garden with a cuppa and a knitting mag I had bought - DD was rather disdainful about my purchase, but she can't talk. THere are some nice patterns and a guide to crocheting, which I might turn my hand to.
    5. Watching / listening to a Mozart piano concerto on BBC4 with OH. The pianist was "bom bom bom"ing along with the orchestra which had us :rotfl:

Off for a bike ride in the sun soon - have a nice day all.

    Evening all.

    1) Lie-in this morning.

    2) Downloaded a cheap book on my kindle, and am now struggling to leave it alone as it's so good.

    3) Went up to the garden centre to get some growbags for my tomato plants, and had a raid on the RTC shelf while I was there: I've got some bedding plants (which I needed), another dahlia (which I really didn't, but I can't resist a dahlia :o), and some ridiculously cheap radish plants - 50p a pack, which looks like it will work out at less than 1p per plant.

    4) Listening to my next door neighbour having a bbq party: I know from overheard conversations that he's never had his own garden before, and he sounds so happy that it makes me smile every time I hear him out there with his friends. :)

    5) Having my own bbq tonight, more because I don't want to hang around in the hot kitchen than for any other reason: I'm having bbq'd asparagus, sticky-marinated sausages, and a new invention of mine that I'm rather unimaginatively calling bbq bread - bread dough spread with a mix of butter, garlic, smoked paprika, black pepper and cheese, rolled up like a swiss roll. It was a bit of an ad-hoc creation, so I'll have to let you know how it works out! :undecided

Have a good evening, all - I must go and light the bbq. :D
Back after a very long break!

ccp-I'll come along and warm my hands by your bbq. I've been cold all day. It's still windy, cloudy, cold. Your menu sounds delicious, bread especially:-). Can't seem to stay awake either, so off to bed. Don't feel as though amoxy's doing anything yet.

    1. Just made self companion plant tagetes between tomatoes. Was given another tomato, so in he's gone, too.
    2. Coal tits pecking coconut bought from Red to Green stall yesterday. My everyday bird range is diminished these days. Wood pigeons seem to intimidate the smaller ones.
    3. Hopes up for Olbas oil doing something.
    4. Found a few village fête bits today, in between dozes in car, mostly staying with French Open - five 50's lucite bird brooches in original boxes, 50's silver filigree earrings on original card, pencilled 'price 100/-', a Trifari piece[50p the lot] and ok toleware.
    5. About to hang out long purple merino cardi with pockets and navy cashmere top, the latter easily mended at under arm seams. 20p each today - v.pleased.
    6. At long last - 3rd year - I have my first philadelphus starting to bloom. Can't smell it atm - wish I could. Elderflower bracts are only just beginning.

Longing for bed+warmth, so nighty-night. Lucky ones enjoy sun and barbies.

No I saw gatsby a couple of weeks ago,not bad but like all Scot Fitgerald stuff a bit heavy going This afternoon we saw Behind the Candelabra about Liberace with michael douglas and Mat Damon.Very good and I was suprised at how well they performed. The suprising part was Debbie Reynolds playing his mum I would never have recognised her at all.The make-up was amazing on Michael Douglas
We went to her house afterwards and she made a lovely dinner and I've just got home and so like Zebedee 'it's time for bed ' Good night all God Bless all here

    1. Lots of gardening done before I went out for the day, and when I came back. My dead eucalyptus has collapsed at last so will have to find an alternative for my hanging baskets. at the moment they're hanging on the white lilac tree!
    2. Neighbour is having a 10' shed put up against my fence which will block the sunlight from my recently built fruit patio so will spend some happy hours sitting with a cup of green, making plans for a new garden design :D
    3. There was a seriously GINORMOUS eight-legged thing on the outside of the compost sack and I didn't scream! Heart going 19 to the dozen but no noise, I must be growing up (truth be known I was speechless with fear :rotfl:)
    4. Spent a lovely day at a convention, met lots of friends I'd not seen since the last one, had a yummy ploughman's lunch and sold lots of books and manuals relevant to the theme
    5. DS has invited me to his graduation next month. I can't think of a better [STRIKE]excuse[/STRIKE] reason to buy a new outfit ;). Well I can't let him down, can I?

    Sweet dreams :)

Morning! I hope the clouds that I can see from my bedroom window burger off earlier than they did yesterday

    Yesterday's pleasures

    1. Had yummy sleep
    2. Followed by eggy breakfast and a nice soak in the bath
    3. OH and I went walking round a local NT grounds and the garden
    4. Followed by a cup of tea in the tea room
    5. Had HM pizzas in our new chimenea which were amazingly successful for a first attempt. Especially considering that one of them was fiorentina, which involves cooking an egg on it.

    Have an nice day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
