    Pleasures for today.

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Took brother in law for a trawl round the second hand car garages. Had to laugh in Sainsburys after (popped in for some bread flour) when he put his hand in his pocket and found the key to one of the cars we had looked round! We were 20 miles away from it by then so he is going to post it back.

    3) I mended the toilet! The flush handle thing has been broken for ages (for ages, read years) so if you flush too far it goes right round in a circle and you have to sort of re-set it. Anyway, of course the original handle and mechanism in the cistern were out of the ark so I had to go and borrow my brother's hack saw. An HOUR to saw through the old spindle part then 20 minutes driving to the ironmongers for a new handle and mechanism. Got home, had to butcher the new part (using the saw again) to make it fit but now it is all done!

    4) Made quite a mess with all the sawing so gave the bathroom a really good clean afterwards.

    5) Smaller son had a good day at school. Bigger son finally got down to his homework. A project that is supposed to be done over a week - due in tomorrow.... English Literature so not too bad.

    6) Smaller son fell asleep whilst I was reading Harry Potter and bigger son is nearly off. So just got to start the breadmaker then I can have a bath and go to bed for Just a Minute and the Archers.

Bit annoying that the pavement right in front of my windows has been dug up again today (last up a fortnight ago). I asked why they were doing it again (4 way traffic lights needed) and they said when they tried to put in the new fire hydrant before, they couldn't turn the water off! That doesn't bode well! Anyway, it all looks like new pipe and bits to me now (4 foot deep holes still there) and the hole is so big now it stretches in front of MrN's front window as well.

Hello all- i hope I can type OK as I nearly cut my finger off earlier and it's all bound up.

DD - I think the engineers one was my favourite :rotfl:
Frith - well done on your loo mending - is your head better now by the way?
well done to you too, LFS on the hoe fixing - and the wiggling :p
JackieO and Bartlemy - glad you've joined us

    Today's pleasures

    1. The sight of a chap in town on a mobility scooter with "Quo" where the "numberplate" would be and a picture of said band. Who said mobility scooters don't rock?
    2. A 3 for 2 offer on my body shop skincare. I hadn't noticed but assisstant pointed it out, also got 10% off so a good deal
    3. Me and Harry cleaned the bathrooms - one of them got a real top to toe clean, ceiling, grout and wall tiles. The pleasure isn't the doing it - though listening to Harry helps - but the fact that it's done
    4. DS giving me a loving pat - it's the closest thing to a hug I can get from a 14 year old boy these days :rotfl:
    5. Made 7 jars of marmelade as stocks were running low. I cheat with marmelade and use the tins of pulp but it's quick, cheap and easy so ner.:p

Final one - clean sheets :T a true OS pleasure. OH doesn't normally let me get them first - he'll race me into the bed but he's outside watering the garden so i sneaked in.

    Night folks
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Yummy sandwiches made with HM bread and homecooked ham
    2. Got really !!!!!! off at work at a senior managers attitude but have decided not to let him get to me as he is just being plain rude and I am better than that.
    3. Nice walk home from work which helped clear my head and mood
    4. Had a use it up evening in the kitchen so baked some jacket pots to use for lunches, turned some sprouty potatoes into my version of a gnocchi, put a loaf in the bread maker and made a chicken and pasta bake for dinner with some dough balls.
    5. Nice chilled rest of the evening with my family
    6. NSD

Hugs to all who need them

    1. Just finished over 2hr call with NZ Aunt, who is about to go and visit Uncle in special home where he'll be for at least 4 weeks, before returning to hospital 'to learn to walk again.'

    2. He is as stubborn as ever, says she, will have to start learning to slow down[pot call kettle]. Their combined age:171.

    3. He will be having a new laptop for chess.

    4. nsd/npd[any idea where my car keys are?], bgd. Loads of planting to R5extra cricket and enjoyed a new mix of commentators. I now have 5 huge pots of muguet for next year, strawberry tower done, farm fence-line further populated, weeding. digging, loads more. Then, 3 times, as I tipped out pots of dead, dry soil, lo! and behold, there were little shoots of various things - banana mint being a special one.

    5. Made gorgeous omelette using own sorrel, leeks and w8rs rtc king prawns, from neighbour's girls' eggs. They were singing very loud and long today - must have laid double-yolkers.

Au lit, bonne nuit. 'Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes on it' - Pollyanna.

Hello....just waiting on masterchef starting....then bedtime. Been a rainy day but I was at work so that was fine!

So, work was okay and got paid again! Manager very stressy but not with me so that was a bonus !

Nice chat on phone with in-laws tonight, I'd phoned to let them know DS's card had arrived.

Got bill in for next $14,000 for sons uni fees! GASP and GULP! the money is saved but I will delay payment by one day so I get a full months interest!! Then will have to start saving all over again.

Made French toast for tea, had loads of eggs to use up.

Four out of five's not bad is it?
    Have a lovely day :)

Hugs CCP, hope tomorrow (or right now!) is better for you x

Sadly it wasn't. :( I knew it wasn't going to be a good day when I went into the bathroom to wash my hands this morning and a spare bottle of deodorant, which had been sitting quite happily on top of the bathroom cupboard for weeks, suddenly threw itself off the cupboard and on to my head. smiley-vault-character-191.gif

    1) Working close enough to home that I could pop home to change when a slice of red pepper in my lunch didn't want to be eaten, so I didn't have to go to a meeting with red marks down my top. (Told you it wasn't a good day! :o)

    2) The first of my daisy-type flowers (the ones that begin 'agy' - agyrantheums or something?) has opened a flower, and it's yellow. :D

    3) After a miserable day (a colleague said, correctly, that it was like being stuck inside a cloud), the sun has now come out.

    4) I was wondering what to have for a quick dinner tonight, and I think you've just cracked it, mhags. (Dreadful egg pun fully intended. :o) So - French toast for tea here, too. :T

    5) Pub quiz tonight. I wasn't actually intending to go, but I'm feeling so gloomy that I think it will do me good.

Normal cheerful service resumed tomorrow, I hope.
Back after a very long break!
