Been AWOL, busy with work, pottering and just played catch up with all your wishes. Chicken, I am sorry I missed your birthday - mine is next week... The cake sounded brilliant. PK, hugs on the loss of your pets. Two in one day is not fair.

Ampersand, thank you for the Clare Balding link. She is right, women really are starting to march forward in racing. 'My' Angrove Rumbaba's (now ex) jockey is an extremely talented young woman, Becky Smith, and I so hope that she is allowed to go as far as her talents could take her.

My sister rang in shock Monday with the news that she did NOT have breast cancer again, having convinced herself that she did... Such good news but tempered by her obsession with her health.

Her mental health is not good but she is receiving no treatment for this. She went for a bone scan later in the week, and got some mixed messages as to who her consultant would be. This in her view was a personal vendetta they had against her, designed to make her life as difficult as possible. (This is a recurring theme with her.)
I hope she picks up on my suggestion of going to her doctor and voicing her concerns to him. She may then get some appropriate treatment.

    On the fuller pleasures front:

    1. The prospect of a meal with friends soon-ish.

    2. Having the house clean and tidy courtesy of my friend, this was paid for in advance and she had cancelled last week's visit.
She really pulled all the stops out and did an excellent job to make amends.

    3. An unexpected visit and good catch up with another dear friend whom I don't see often enough. We so enjoy each other's company, she is so intelligent and fantastic to talk things through with.

    4. The prospect of much-needed extra work in the pipeline, emerging via a conference call yesterday. Which was enjoyable and helpful in itself, mine is such a solitary job and these conference calls are great.

    5. The gradual transfer of winter wardrobe to spring/summer, much delayed this year. My sister has sent me something new to wear for my b'day, this was a Godsend as it gave her something nice to talk about. It is sitting firmly unwrapped until Wed. 15th.

    6. Arthritis has been more or less behaving. It stopped a shopping trip this week, but I had no particular plans on what I wanted to buy, so that was probably just as well, I probably would have bought some money - wasting things, as can happen. I finally got paid for March's work, which was helpful!

    7. Lovely pics online of darling little "Boo", Angrove Mumsbuns. Oh, how I am tempted to stump up and buy her on instalments as well, even though I can't really afford it.... But who needs new clothes and shoes? Well not me...!

Forgot to say what a lovely gesture, Ampersand.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Evening

Ampersand - What a lovely gesture
McCulloch - Glad your sister has been given the all clear and hope she gets some help soon for mental health. My mum suffers with bipolar so can understand how hard it is.

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Shopping all done this morning and came in well under budget.
    2. As knew the shopping bill would be low this week treat DD to some pretzel M&M's which you can normally only buy in the states but noticed The Works were selling them at an inflated price but felt like treating her.
    3. Little snooze this afternoon
    4. Bag all packed ready for tonight, lots of layers of clothing, flash of jasmine tea, gloves, torch and a lot of jelly babies to give to the walkers. All ready for a night of cheering and directing 17,000 walkers around London in their bra's. A little bit sad not walking this year but happy to be still involved with such a great charity as Walk the Walk (low overheads so the money goes where it should and not on marketing and office staff). Anyone in London late tonight please cheer on the wonderful people who will be walking 26.2 miles in their bras for breast cancer.
    5. One in advance hoping for no rain tonight - Please keep your fingers crossed.

Well not sure if will post tomorrow as will come in and go to bed. I imagine will have little voice left and sore hands from clapping. I can't wait:j

Hugs to all who need them

It’s been a rough week, but on a positive note, I didn’t need bail money!!! See there are positives in everything.:rotfl:

Thank you for the kind wishes, our gorgeous animals have been laid to rest in the garden, they have their own rose seedlings that will grow. Fraid it’s just not something the emotions can get over to quickly. But also great to remember them, it was hard getting out of the habit of giving meds twice a day at the same time each day. But there are also other reminders making me smile.

We are reining in spending with unexpected and expected bills this month, car insurance we pay in full and the car tax for a year, the council tax I paid in full as we could at the time and then we got hit with some other bills which isn’t good timing, as I also paid an extra 200 onto a card debt I am clearing off, but we are getting there.

Remembered to get repeat prescriptions before the pre payment runs out
Tonight’s dinner was rtc organic steak with chips with loads of veg with gravey, it was lovely.:)

Lots of cleaning and tidying, fresh bedding for us and the animals.:)
So various loads of washing too.

Here are my pleasures for today!

    1) A very long sleep. Smaller son slept in his own bed til 8.20. (Under the Cars duvet). Then he got in my bed and we fell asleep again til 9.30!

    2) We went to the local canal basins where the Canal and River Trust had moored their boat for people to look round. Various other sites open for the day too so looked in those.

    3) My sister has bought a new house!

    4) Went to my brother in laws with sons and my brother. We took the Indian food we won at bingo yesterday and I made a fruit salad from some of the fruit.

    5) Played dungeons and dragons for FOUR HOURS! Smaller son enthralled by it. Then we all jumped out of our skins when my sister suddenly got home from work and flung the door open!

    6) Its down to 3 degrees now so very glad I didn't plant the sweet peas out today. I put them outside in the daytime to toughen up but have just brought them back in the porch again.

    7) Will have a hwb tonight and catch up on Casualty in bed just now.

    1. Lovely friend is staying with us :)

    2. She brought us presents!! Mine were unexpected delights, I knew she had a goodie or two for her darling goddaughter.

    3. We went out for DD's dance rehearsal and then tea and cake in a gorgeous caf!.

    4. Got chatting in said caf! to amazing couple who are apparently the oldest couple in that village, 92 and 95 and sooooooo full of live, love and vitality xx

    5. Fabulous day chatting, playing games, watching Bugsy Malone and in the evening drinking deelish alcoholic beverages and nattering even more ;)

    6. Lowish spend day just bought deelish cheeses...........

    7. Chum bought us fabulous dinner in our second favourite restaurant (most fave is in Brighton but petrol/parking a bit beyond me at the mo.....). So kind of her x

    8. DD, friend and I went out to check out location of a couple of properties and whilst they weren't great, we had a good discussion of the various areas and their benefits etc so we could make better evaluations.

    9. 2 viewings at my house - don't think either of them have made an offer as no call from the agents but don't really care yet, want to make the most of the time we have here as we lurve the house (sigh)

    10. Helped chum spend more of her well-earned money whilst not feeling remotely 'guilty' that I wasn't spending my credit card/potential overdraft (polish halo!!)

    11. Knowing that in a mo, once I've had a good long drink of water, I'll be going to bed and cuddling up to DD :):):) xxx

    Morning all !

No matter what time I go to bed now I rarely sleep later than 5am :( that's another reason I have changed my work hours to start at 7.45 instead of 9am... may as well get up and go to work ;). Anyway, Saturday pleasures:

    1. sunny & breezy so washing dried and in before showers about 4pm

    2. managed to walk to local church with friend for table top sale, love rummaging at these things. Had to have a couple of stops and sat down when we arrived but made it there and back :)

    3. only bought a really sweet ceramic hedgehog (about the size of a small conker) for 20p. I don't have many [STRIKE]dust catchers [/STRIKE]ornaments, but it just caught my eye.

    4. catching up on recorded shows including Elementary and Endeavour

    5. Had an afternoon nap (about 20 mins), woke up and went to get some hangers to start the ironing but was feeling weary, so I laid on the bed for 5 minutes and fell asleep again. I slept for about an hour, but felt much better after. Not sure if it was the exertion of walking or feeling under the weather or these tablets.
