Well almost bedtime here in cold and windy Melbourne....just had to go out to pharmacy and the wind would have cut you in two....my lovely ever so chatty son (not!) accompanied me....jings! It's like pulling teeth trying to have a conversation at times!! However he did walk with me so I suppose that's a bonus!

Thank you for your good wishes re OH, it's very hard at the moment seeing him so poorly. Taking things day by day and not knowing what's ahead is very hard for a control freaky plan a header! I think having been given a diagnosis of cancer before makes every lump / bump / pain a worry .still waiting on results.

Well , a funny start to my day! Got to work and we found a very sleepy mouse (?) but possibly a small marsupial , sound asleep on top of a box. Not the thing you want a customer to see! So as we set up, kept an eye on it and I said we need to get it out before we open! Sleepy, sleepy wee thing continued to snooze! Anyway 3 of us , a box within a box and a pair of serving tongs, a doubled over with laughter Mhagster , one brave male colleague, one terrified male colleague and in the box within the box it went! It was then taken away outside! This was just the start of a crazy ,mad and busy day at work!

I enjoyed my drive home, I drive through a very nice estate , with beautiful houses, gardens, trees, distant hills, various parrot lookouts , as I drove to work this morning at least 200 parrots were circling above me as I drove, I slowed right down ( no one else on road ) and admired the view! I don't think I'll ever get fed up of seeing them.

Watched call the midwife with sound and practiced my Spanish on DD's laptop! It had sound!

Made chilli con carne for dinner.

Enjoyed a phone call to my letter writing friend....I so owe her letters but phoned instead! Nice to catch up with her.

So not a bad day ...it was 7o this morning when I went to work...same temperature as when we were home at Christmas ...felt bloomin' chilly!

Okay time for bed...have a good one:)

Well done for getting to 5 pleasures, CCP, that is the joy of this thread, is it not?

I quite agree. Sometimes it's a struggle, but it's always worth doing.

    1) My manager has agreed that a report I have been asked to write can go to next month's committee meeting, as I need some information from someone who is currently off sick. It's nice to know that I'm not going to have to rush to try and get it finished for the meeting next week.

    2) Managed not to lose my temper with the salesman at the garage where I bought my new car: I haven't received the new owner's documentation from the DVLA and he told me that it's the garage's policy not to do the necessary paperwork. I feel slightly better now that I have mentioned this to the DVLA: I think it's a legal requirement and there might be trouble that they're not doing what they should do. ;)

    3) Bought my train ticket for Friday, and paid for most of it with a voucher so it only cost me £6 of my own money. :money:

    4) Took some LO pasta bake into work for lunch - I've got a bit lazy about taking packed lunches recently and must start doing it again.

    5) Pub quiz tonight, with a Man City supporting quiz team-mate - I must remember not to mention their loss in the FA Cup final last weekend. At least not more than a couple of times. An hour. :p

Chicken - that's so sad about your cousin-in-law. I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

Hugs to all feeling unwell / in pain at the moment.
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening all !

Thank you all - however he lost the fight early this afternoon :(

Skintos - Gabapentin guinea pig or what?? Still it's good news about your spine.

VJsmum - I hope your DD gets in to Drama school.

    5 for today

    1. Felt better so went in to work

2.Had a bit of a funny almost fainty turn when walking in office.Probably due to lack of food yesterday. It passed thankfully.

    3. Stopped the traffic in the OGV to let a moorhen cross the road without being squashed by traffic.

    4. Terrier here:)

    5. Quinoa and chargrilled chicken for tea -plain but tummy friendly

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Oh, chicken - I am so sorry.

Further, the return of this vicious cold is just dragging everyone back again, re-activating aches and pains. Seedlings alert again tonight. Weather man was doomy, apologetic, but emphatic.

I feel shallow to list an indulgence -

    1. Did it - another Sod It! moment - off to Dublin, Friday@17h. Heineken Final tkt is mine. There is a lovely miracle woman, Sharon, who works for Eurolines in Luton. She rang Dublin to 'persuade' release of one of their non-English tickets, if any remained, for my aller-retour. England have been allocated only 26 tickets! - all long gone. But I have mine now, all printed out, in a plastic thingy. Match ticket is from Surrey teacher. Their friend has not recovered sufficiently post-op. to travel. We've just spoken again. It really is going to happen. Luckily, they'll be supporting Toulon too. He formerly taught 11 years at JW's old school in Frimley, which - I informed him - is also an area within 20m of moi in NZ.

    2. Thankyou again, St Martin of Lewis, for your insurance guides which I religiously follow each year. So, nsd/npd after a fashion, if you'll allow that has meant an incredibly cheap car policy. Best ever, by some distance. I feared the worst, given the CE equality gender ruling.

    3. Ooh, listening to The Archers - haven't lately. Matt's onto Lil - d!nouement and bribery time, cunningly sprung to clash with a forked tongue Paul rv? Two weeks away, Turkey, Istanbul. Lilian's a kebab. Oh, Linda's Jane Austen idea's voted down. Jazzer's Highland Games are victorious. Excellent.

    4. I'm cold - going boringly to bed with hwb shortly. Early start demain. Fencing, guttering, Spits prep. and more.

    5. Noting what's on around Dub as I'll have w/e empty from early a.m. arrival till kick-off and next day's 20h departure. It pleases me that I'll use Bus Pass in and out of village for main journey. Some pangs as I re-live some recent Ireland years and most recent some one.

Comforts all round offered tonight, needed I think.

Tealady - free yogurt? Have I missed this one?

Noted: slight upgrade in frith sleep:-)

Skint- in my inglorious ignorance, I just feel that a warmer climate would help you even more. Glad you've had some improvement.

vjm - DD will do it.

mhags - waiting and saying a few words to Dave Allen's best sort of God for OH

Good for you Ampersand - be sure to have a Boxty for me :p

THanks for the good wishes for DD - only I think I might have misled you :o (am I the only one who reads that as "mizzled"?). DD has just done her AS level so needs another year at school first. The application process will start in the Autumn. She is good - who knows if she's good enough? We shall see...

    Today's pleasures

    1. GOt some washing semi dried on the line and got it in before the rain came
    2. DD's law exam was "a doddle" apparently
    3. Still marking - not a pleasure, but it's going down
    4. Made bread pudding and bread and butter pudding to use up stale bread. Had soup and B&B pudding for dinner - was lovely
    5. Found an old friend on facebook

    Have a nice evening all

I’m sorry I have been a bit MIA I just needed to get back on form I didn’t want to write half hearted pleasures and as usual this thread as re-inspired me

McHags hugs to both you and DH waiting for those results.
Chicken I am so so sorry.
    CCP: Loving your pleasures

    1. Felt quite queasy at work but eating the food I took in made me feel better:p
    2. Another work day closer to the weekend, all be it a rather busy one ahead.
    3. Had a plan tonight and it worked a dream, everyone at work seemed to be talking football and about a match tonight, so I looked up when it was on, went shopping to Mr T at the same time and got lots of bargains, happy bunny, and happy freezer :T I'm finding the bargains harder to come by at the moment so it's good news for the freezer.
    4. Dinner is cooking a way of RTC BBQ ribs with potato wedges and a hughe 20p salad bowl, we will be stuffed:o
    5. It’s nice to be feeling back positive again, I don’t make a good “blue” person.
