Thinking of you, Mhags. X fingers.
Think I can get together a collection:
    1. Chat with sis, as mentioned.
    2. Lovely chat with new learner, who was a really nice person that I enjoyed talking to. I told her so, and she appreciated that.
    3. Playing with my new toy of a sonic scrubber which was an Aldi special. It's a battery powered spin brush with interchangeable heads. Looking forward to seeing what it brings off the trike and the grouting.
    4. Pics posted by my pal in Oz that indicate things are good, she has some worries at the moment. It's 20+ degrees where she is. Where my cousin is in Estonia, it's glorious weather. I hope his children have worn the summer clothes I sent earlier in the year.
    5. Used a stain removing aerosol spray from A!di (was reduced to a quid) and have removed stains from two white / cream articles that would have put them in the rag bag otherwise. Really pleased about this as I am on a no buying clothes kick atm and will be for the rest of this year.
    6. I did enjoy the BAFTAs, and it was great to see the wonderful C4 Paralympic coverage recognised - and to see Clare Balding recognised too. The absolute joy of the C4 team was heartwarming to see.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I've been trying to think of five pleasures all the way home from work, and I have to confess I'm struggling:

    1) To borrow from Frith - not a bad sleep. Usually I struggle to sleep on a Sunday night but, for unknown reasons, only woke up two or three times last night rather than every hour or so as I usually do.

    2) Despite some fairly threatening-looking black clouds it hasn't rained today, although the wind's still whooshing quite dramatically.

    3) Only three more days at work this week, as I'm off to Reading on Friday.

    4) I had quite a big lunch so I'm not particularly hungry for my dinner, and might just have a salami sandwich as part of my continued attempts to conquer the cold meat mountain. (Of course I'll go straight back to L1dl once it's all finished... :o)

    5) Football on TV later.

Yay - made it, after a lot of thought!

mhagster - I'll add to the crossed fingers club for your OH's test results.
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening all !

Mcculloch - lovely photos ! Thank you- always interested to know how the "Angrove's" are doing.

mhagster - I have verything crossed for your DH's results

VJsmum- shame about the caravan getting scratched :(

    5 for yesterday

    1. Helped Mum paint the new wood on her shed .One side only between us so not too taxing.

    2. Terrier not changing colour despite her best efforts against the brown woodstained shed .

    3. Small roast for tea

    4. Getting a bit of a tan on my arms whilst painting the shed.

    5. Stuff in the garden is growing rapidly - including my "well hung" bottles with salad in it;)

    5 for today

    1. Sickness - have had nausea all weekend . It had to happen. No food shall be consumed today thats for sure.

    2. No work due to the above.

    3.Car insurance people sent me a 2 4 1 cinema card valid for 12 months , which I was not expecting .

    4. Snoozing

    5. Reading another rather good book about a couple who bought a farm in the mountains in Spain. Lent to me by my lovely colleague.

Sad news - my cousin in law (mid 40's) had one of the three tumours removed from his brain a few weeks back. It looked promising but has now grown back with a vengeance and there is nothing more that can be done:( tealady -poignant post xx

Chicken - ((((Hugs)))) Its news like that that remind me just why I take part and help at these events. Sometimes things may be a bit uncomfortable when out all night or walking long distances but it is nothing compared to what people, their families and friends who suffer from a life changing illness go through.
  • Tealady - you are wonderful :) My dad and oldest friend died two months ago from cancer so you really are a star x
    5 things...
    1. Its raining so I don't have to water the garden
    2. My mum phoned and told me she'd sent me a parcel:D
    3. I get second bath tonight which means I don't have to get out for an hour!
    4. My dad's friend bought me 8 tomato plants for free!
    5. Tea was leek and bacon gratin and cost me aprox 54p plus leftovers:D
Sad moment when another of dad's friends asked me how I was doing *gulp* I'm ok, just miss him:(

Gentles and carings and wishes and all-that's-ideal after a catch-up read of bumps and hiccups.

    1. nsd/npd.

    2. One snarl-up negotiated.

    3. One big thing, important, just sent.

    4. Over 20 trips, carted all the dismantled pergola timbers and trellis out back - not easy with narrow entry and tight corners - but DONE! The Solomon's Seal stalk I managed to knock down with a heavy long beam is now in a vase. Dicentra's out too. They look so good together.

    5. At last! Brought nightie in from line before lunch and more rain.

    6. Worked through rain until wind et al just too nasty to continue. It became really violent around 5. Some planting done. Counted 7 peas about to break surface. Also turning sweet pea pots as they germinate on kitchen window sill. They reach for the light in a couple of hours, so I've turned them 3 or 4 times today. I love to remember the simplicity of Bob Flowerdew's 'Seeds want to sprout; plants want to grow' and so they do. Twice today thought I was digging out things completely dead, only to find nodules sprouting way below ground. Heard myself apologising to them as I tucked them back in.

mhagster - add me to the OH fingers-crossed wish list.
frith - new bed +new mattress surely=more than 'not a bad sleep'?

Sleep well, revive, restore - quiet minds and peaceful hearts to all.

Hugs to all, especially poorlies xx

Ho hum, feeling bleugh, coldy and a bit fed up. Hopefully Monday blues, and wishing that the house was sold already (after all, my last place sold on the first day on the market......*sigh*). I think bed beckons...

    1. Yesterday was a NSD

    2. Lovely text message from a friend this morning

    3. Great weekend with my chum, although I did feel rather delicate yesterday, all my own fault!

    4. Turned yesterday's dinner leftovers into a yummy dinner for tonight's offering with some fresh rice. DD was impressed :)

    5. Plenty of veggie rice left over to turn into a couple more meals for me.

Hope your OH is OK, MHags.

Ampersand - just took my table cloth in after 4 days on the line! It hailed today.

Sorry to hear your news, Chicken.

Here are my pleasures for today.

    1) Quite a good sleep!

    2) Had a sandwich at mum and dad's at lunchtime.

    3) House not too untidy.

    4) The ex MrFrith phoned to say he is ill so can't have sons round for tea this week. Sad that I always doubt everything he says (this follows 2 weeks where he couldn't collect them because he suddenly didn't have a car...) Anyway, good to have them here!

    5) HM pizza for tea.

    6) Smaller son very chatty today. He never thinks to tell me what is going on so when he gets talking you find out 3 new boys have started at his school, someone has retired etc . He never tells you at the time!

    7) Going to go to bed soon and listen to iplayer. Have felt a bit under the weather today.

There seems to be a few "under the weather" people - hope you all feel better very soon
McCulloch - I really enjoyed the BAFTAs - especially odd since I rarely watch telly. Really pleased for Olivia Coleman - her second speech was pure gold
Well done for getting to 5 pleasures, CCP, that is the joy of this thread, is it not?
Chicken - terrible news about the cousin in law :( My caravan scratches are nothing in comparison.
Lovefullshelves - it has been over 3 years since i lost my mum, sometimes I'm fine and other times it hits me like a brick wall all over again. I guess this is how it will be from now on. I dreamt of her the other night - it is always nice to see her :)
Which reminds me, Ampersand, sweet peas were my mum's favourite flowers. She wanted to die in the summer so she could have them in her funeral flowers - she died in December. She would have smiled at the irony.
Kittikins - it must be so hard, don't want to sell the house, do want the house to sell.
Frith - my DS can be like that, doesn't say much and then we get to hear loads at once.

    Yesterdays pleasures

    1. Getting through the marking. Taking it's time though. Yesterdays No !!!!!! Sherlock moment was "the disadvantages are the complete opposite of the advantages" :rotfl:
    2. DS has been chosen to compete in the 800 metres for his school
    3. DD's drama production went really well. She is damned good - just hope she's good enough to get into drama school.
    4. Came home to left over roast dinner from sunday. 2 mins in the microwave and it was served. Even better than the day before and most would have been binned in days gone by.
    5. Tried out my new Kelly kettle, ready for Glasto

    More marking today.
    Enjoy your day, everybody.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
