Morning all
A quickie before I get up
1. Sat and finished one section of marking before I got dressed :T
2. Celebrated with a bit of a soak in the bath
3. Went to a staff meeting and kept my opinions to myself for once. Let other people be disruptive. I have been asked to extend my hours but am hoping for a trade off of longer term time hours for longer holidays
4. Prawn stir fry for tea followed by left over bread and butter pudding
5. A walk with OH to work it all off.
Off to York on the train with my marking today - gives me a 4 hour round trip of marking on train (no distractions) and 2 hours to spend in York. Result :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Bedtime again! A few pleasures from last few days:
Blimey! The weather has changed and feels as if I'm at home! Wet , wild and windy and brrrrr a cool 11o today! Everyone else is moaning but I quite like it !
Work has been crazier than usual and in managers absence I've assumed his responsibilities ....however he popped in today and is back tomorrow ...he can have his responsibilities right back! I'm quite happy doing what I do and leaving at end of shift without a backward glance! Atmosphere less stress in some ways as he is quite a stressy little man but more stressy as he's not been there ...if that makes any sense!
OH was home before me today ...by about 5 minutes , I had to work on an hour which I will claim back at some point. So we went out for takeaway for tea which was nice. We have found a localish Chinese restaurant which sells similar food to what we got in our local takeaway back home. It is half the price of our local Thai restaurant here. So yummy tea tonight....and kinda money saving ( aye right!)
Received a $5 loyalty voucher from supermarket.
OH got a minute tax return! But every little helps
DD1 went to a prison today as part of her legal studies course. Quite interesting chat over the takeaway food at tea time.
One man in for murdering his wife....was on drugs and doesn't remember a thing. Another in for dangerous driving, was speeding, crashed car, killed his friend the passenger and was in hospital with series injuries himself before being sentenced. I think it was interesting for the class to hear and see things from the convicted person perspective.
Think that's about it from me, enjoy our Thursday.
sparrer are you back from Bonnie Scotland yet? Looking forward to hearing about your trip.
chicken that's sad news for you this week. Hugs from here.0 -
1) Exchanging grins with a neighbour as we tried to negotiate our cars in opposite directions in the narrow road we live in. We got there in the end!
2) Annual appraisal at work, and all was well. There was one thing I was a bit worried about - an issue I had become aware of but not really done anything about - but I was told that the higher-ups shouldn't have left an important policy decision to me and it wasn't really my problem anyway.
3) Sunshine this evening - I've even got the door open at the moment.
4) Had a phone call from someone at the company I do shopping scanning for, and they've finally, after three years, worked out why the scanner doesn't upload data properly - they sent me the wrong type of cable when I first joined! :wall:
5) Packed my bag for my weekend away, so I can have a lie-in tomorrow morning.Back after a very long break!0 -
Grimsby legend on radio. Joe Waters. Hero to the Theatre of Fish.
Is there something about a small RAF Station north of Lincoln. Arrrrrgh. I was at RAF Waddington.

2. glad to remove compression stocking !! Doc suggested for leg pain but has made it worse. Foot/ankle swollen and throbbing by time I got home at lunch time.
3. warm day and sunny afternoon managed to get some washing done after work & dried
4. chat with new neighbour. They have now found damp next door but thankfully not on walls that adjoin my house. Trying to arrange to fix joint chimneys - they are having a roofer round for some other quotes so they have agreed they will ask for a quote for chimneys too

Lovely , lovely bill from DWP, they overpaid dad, sorry for your loss give us money..so there had to be good things today..
1. My mate spent ALL afternoon with me and we put the banks, government and big business to rights, and all we needed was copious amounts of tea:D
2. The same mate gave me cornetto chocolate rejects, ah the joys of friendship, he can't afford to eat bless him and he shares with me:)
3. Cooked tea for mate, which I do once a week, so I know he's had one hot meal, and he said 'loverly pie missus':D
4. I used a planet push hoe(look for a pic on google, it was made in the 1930's I think) to hoe half an acre of little leeks so they aren't taken over by weeds(no spray:D)I must have done my 10,000 steps today!
5. Lemon drop pie tasted like lemon meringue (ok thet looks very wrong) with cake dropped in it and I had a BIG slice at dinner. (And then I wonder why my new enhancin' pants are snug:D)
6. A little plastic donkey. I gave it to my dad when I was about 8, and I told him to keep it in his truck in case he broke down, little donkey could pull him home. He still had it in his truck, so now its in my car....
7. My car..I've not had a car or drove in 16 years. I am now the proud owner of a 1972 VW beetle, the same car I had when I passed my test many moons ago. I just need to be brave enough to drive it but..
8. Super cheap insuranceand no road tax!!
