5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Repaired button hole band on daughter's trousers which had been
eaten by the washing machine.
2. Repaired daughter's linen top. Hem had been caught on a door
handle.
3. Stacked 42 bags of logs bought at summer prices ready for next
winter...or this summer!
4. Cooked cauliflower cheese for dinner and served with lots of
carrots and peas. I don't put cheese in the sauce...just sprinkle
grated over the top and put in oven.
5. Baked a quiche at the same time as the cauliflower cheese ready
to serve tomorrow for dinner.
My 5 for Friday.0 -
Hello pws52, wow those are very old style
I'm envious of your dinner, ours was shop margherita pizza (DD's idea of a 'celebration dinner' for me getting into uni, bless her)
1. The aforementioned pizza was half price
2. Have done a lot of smiling today and telling my chums has been lovely, although sad that we'll be moving away from them all.....
3. I've arranged to do a car boot sale (sun dependent!) with my girly chum G on BH Monday, as I am now keen to get rid of as much stuff as possible, rather than store it for a year or so!
4. DD and I played roulette this afternoonNext time we can bet using very old pennies my granddad gave me in his will, oooh so sentimental
5. Good day at work - even managed to get a free lunch!
6. Applied for my student loan!0 -
Quick 5 for now as I'm quite tired.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons had a good day at school.
3) I went round the charity shops then got some fruit and veg from the market.
4) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
5) Easy tea of hot dogs.
6) Looking forward to the News Quiz soon.0 -

4. Pumpkin plants poking little green leaves up
5. A nightingale singing outside right nowloverley
6. I found my poi..twirly whirly light up in the dark things and OH had batteries that fitted..so I twirled and whirled in the dark and lit up my own life:T2013 NSD 100. Many congratulations Kittikins on your uni placement, wonderful news.
Condolences on your loss Chicken
CCP were you near the Huntley and Palmer building, now flats, by the K & A canal? The small of baking that came from there back in the 60's was pretty strong!
Not bonkers at all for thinking of a trip to NZ ampersand. There comes a time in life when if we don't do what's in our mind now, we're never going to do it. Like DD's 50 before 50 and my bucket list, we should all just go for it
Thanks mhags, I got back on Thursday. Pleased to see your OH still has his appetite, as would most for a Chinese. The prison visit sounds interesting, a lot of amazing stories from the inmates I should think
VJsmum have a super time in Milan. You'll feel brighter when you're there with your girlie friends
Hugs to all the poorlies, newbies, oldies – everyone in fact
1. The coach trip. It was certainly a more comfortable way to travel than driving myself, and very reasonable. I took the overnighter both ways so slept some of the time. I spent the journey up with a very nice young man which helped the night go quickly, and a lovely girl on the way back who was meeting friends in London before they set off to backpack round the Antipodes. It rather reminded me of savingforoz, I wonder where/how she is these days?
2. My friend V. What a lovely, generous, warm person. I knew of course, but now I've met her f2f for the first time it's confirmed. We didn't run short of things to talk about for the full week and just fell into a routine of shopping, sight-seeing etc with hardly a word needing to be spoken
3. Oban - what can I say? It's just beautiful, as are Kerrera, Mull and Iona. There's a little rickety blue boat which takes 4 passengers at a time free of charge to Kerrera, as long as they eat in the boat owners restaurant! Well worth the trip though even if it was a bit choppy, the marina and harbour areas there are beautiful
4. The convention was three days of meeting new people, listening, talking, sharing experiences and a wealth of eating and drinking. The Saturday evening entertainment was very good, the male comedian/singer was very camp but had a wide repertoire and a surprisingly strong voice.
5. Brought back lots of goodies mainly found in a warehouse and all yellow stickered. Pleased to see the Scots are as canny as ever. Scottie dog-shaped shortbread for DD, Dneighbour's DD loved the tablet and Nessie and I was lucky enough to hunt down a two legged haggis for myself. It was quite a trek but was assured it's the very best pedigree so would be worth the effort. I shall find out when I have some of it with neeps and tatties for dinner on Sunday.
6. The whole holiday cost quite a bit less than I'd budgeted for so I had a little to put back in the bank for my next jaunt
7. All washing and ironing done, pets back in situ, fridge and fruit bowl stocked up again and ready to attack the field if it's dry in the morning
It's good to be home and in my own bed again – good grief that makes me sound old! Sweet dreams0 -

Sparrer - I am glad that you had a lovely time in Oban. I love it ! There is something about the Scottish landscape that does your soul good .
PK - ooh I bet you are looking forward to your mini break next w/e.
Lovefullshelves - well done. VW's are like Marmit*e I love em
5 for yesterday
1. Day off - slept well. No violent dreams
2. Took terrier out to the park. She makes me smile . Although I found out that she freaks out (runs and hides)if you offer her something for her to take from your hand, a ball ,biscuit etc. But if you give it to her she is fine i.e throw it, put it on the floor . Rescue dog with unknown history- makes me thinks she got a few clouts for stealing/taking things from previous owner.
3. HM curry for tea
4. Enjoyed reading my book.
5. Time to myself as OH went out
Have a good weekend all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
sparrer lovely to hear you had a good trip! Mull is one of my other favourite places in the world and Iona has a wonderful serenity about it!
Well , briefly as I'm on my phone:
It is Saturday and there was a scone involved;)
First one on weeks!
Got $15 off shop if over $200 and then used $5 voucher so $20 off shop this morning plus a husband to accompany me : double bonus:)
Went to factory outlet mall... Over it very quickly !!
Went to see kangaroos as we always do when we go there. I could sit there and watch them for hours.
Exhausted after all that shopping and scone eating and have just woken up after at long Saturday snooze!
Have a lovely weekend:)0 -

1) a lie in bliss then a bath more bliss
2) went to the scottish deer centre. It was drizzling when we arrived so we decided to have lunch first, by which time it was tipping down :-( but nice lunch
3) looked round the farm shop. Bought a sicilean lemon yankee candle for my mum and biccies for the children who are all now home. Oh bought a new raincoat half price
4) rain stopped so we braved the centre. The otters were incredibly sweet. Then the skies opened again which meant thefalconry display was in the big barn. Fantastic harrier hawk called wiggles. He showed off by swooping lower and lower over our heads. I have had my hair ruffled by a hawk!
5) mr t on the way back as mr l doesnt do brown rice clipper tea or douw egbert coffee. Got a pack of flapjacks reduced from £1.49 to 15p but shop still bliddy lots. Defo back to mr l next week.
Quick whizz round the house with the vacuum before dr who where we are promised all will be revealedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
