Good evening all !

5 for today
1. Two lots of washing dried on line . Laundry basket empty:)
2. Picked some rhubarb from my garden will do somthing with it tomorrow
3.HM pizza for OH
4. Snooze this afternoon
5. Sorted out my veg garden. Picked some radishes for DM , planted some more peas and weeded the raised beds with a little help from my hens !! Need to sort out making some space for my strawberries which have grown too big for the cloche. Operation cat poo will be needed again - netting and recycling of wood should do it.Just need to figure it out.
Have a good evening all!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
Sparrer - it sounds like you had a lovely time. I'm not sure if I've seen the H&P building or not, but I hope to identify it before I leave tomorrow - I can't miss a biscuit factory.
1) Decent night's sleep by my standards for a first night in a strange place.
2) Saw some red kites, a bird I've never seen before - just glorious.
3) A nice walk around Silchester, without getting reasoned on.I'm now thinking that a five mile walk may have been a touch ambitious when I haven't done any serious walking for over a year - I don't dare sit still for too long in case I can't then move again.
4) Nice lunch in a friendly village pub, having reached it ten minutes before they stopped serving food, and they even offered to keep therestaurant open longer in case I wanted a pudding. (I didn'tBack after a very long break!0 -
Evening
Sparrer - Sounds like you had a lovely time whilst away.
Pleasures for today,
1. Meal plan and shopping done for the week and came in well under budget again so some more money for the savings tin.
2. Timed getting off the bus with the shopping perfectly as could see DD walking home from Rainbows so she helped me carry shopping home.
3. Cup of tea and slice of yummy custard brioche when got home
4. Little afternoon snooze
5. Some more Mr.T vouchers thanks to credit card.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
I’ve bought a set of 8 books online last night via a book jumble, it is a “pay what you want” a little is donated to CRuk. I checked them out on Amazon first and decided from there, I received a link to the PDF file which I’ve put on the kindle PC application and it’s picked it up ok. It’s http://ajumbleofwords.webeden.co.uk/ if anyone’s interested.-I am not in sales btw.:rotfl:
Oh dear, DH does a lot of DIY and he was making tubes for the animals from empty vanish containers, when he sliced his finger clean open with the scalpel, :eek:you would be amazed at the speed I can scoop up ferrets lock the house grab the keys and load him to the car while ploughing to a&e, stopped up the road when I saw a lady in nurses uniform to ask for best a&e and she said not the one we were headed to as there would be a vast wait so we headed to another place, with only a queue out of the door to be seen. But we were sorted and took our place in amongst everyone and the place was packed full of toddlers as well, but I have to say what you hear about a and e on the news is very right. But we were seen rapidly by a lovely nurse who had a right chuckle with us,:D DH has a sutured and bandaged finger that he has to keep totally try for 7 days.
1.Helped run an event today that went so so well.:):)
2.While getting a tea tried my luck on the tombola and won a litre of Pimms No 3, looking it up its apparently brandy based and lovely warm.:T
3.After packing up we were hanging around just catching up and the organisers said if we didn’t take the leftover frozen BBQ food it would be thrown, so we have shared it between us and so the freezer is happy and dinner is cooking in the oven:j. But I don’t understand why it would just be “thrown out"? Still it was rescued between us we weren't proud:rotfl:

Thank you all for the lovely warm welcome home
CCP you've got me thinking now - there's knobbles, ginger nuts, cream crackers - unless of course the P in CCP is shared with Mr Huntley's partner. Btw reading through their web site I noticed breakfast biscuits were first introduced by H&P in the late 1800's, so much for the 'new' idea appearing on the shelves today!
Skint hope you have a lovely long weekend, don't spend too much of it on gardening and laundry
DD I agree with the b awful weather, it rained, and it rained, and it rained some more last week, but it was a good trial for my new waterproof coat, kept me warm and dry the whole time. Your day sounds lovely with deer, otters, hawks and a bargain raincoat
Chicken funny little terrier, I enjoy hearing your tales about her life with you all. I understand about previous homes, my lad still won't play with toys as he was smacked for picking up toys by his previous owner, a child minder. Poor boy couldn't have known which were his and which were the childrens
mhags outlet malls are money-eaters, I don't blame you for not hanging around! Thrift shops are preferable any time
Tealady custard brioche sounds very yum indeed, will have to go on a hunt for some
PK I hope your DH finished the tubes before slicing his finger! Seriously, hope he's not in pain and it heals pdq. You should be proud of rescuing the barbie food, doing your bit for your own economy
1. It didn't rain so got the lawn mowed
2. Dispatched some snails into the disused orchard beyond my garden. If there's a knock on the door in two years' time I'll know they're back!
3. Bought some rtc freesias, yellow of course, when I was shopping yesterday, the scent is filling the sitting room. Lovely.
4. Managed to avoid the Eurovision song contest by spending the evening peeling/coring apples and freezing them. I left a bowlful for LO next door when she was feeding mog but she only had one so the rest will be for crumbles and pies.
5. nsd/npd. Hopefully the first of many over the next few weeks (although a friend and I have just arranged a trip to Ikea shortly)
Sweet dreams0 -
Aaaaah H&P, I used to work for them/their parent company (as did nearly everyone who lived within about a 20 mile radius of Reading - well either them, or the Pru!).
Random fact - the social club in that building was the filming location for 'Fat Sam's Speakeasy' in my favourite film, Bugsy Malone!
Anyway....Saturday's superlatives:
1. DD went to her dance rehearsal and then on to play with one of her dance chums for the day.
2. I spoiled myself in the town rather than our village library by picking up lots of fab books, including, teaching textbooksHave some fabulous science ones, cool experiments for primary age children, just what I need as science isn't my natural forte!
3. I was also collared to do a market research test, yummy orange juices with a free choccy bar to say thank you - and was tipped the wink that there's a paid market research test during half term
4. Found free parking in the town, a rarity, and much appreciated!
5. Pottered around the house finding more stuff to add to my car boot sale pile, amazing how ruthless I can be at times!
6. Had a celebratory glass of wine with my chum when I went to pick DD up.
7. Not MS at all, but we had a takeaway tea as we were so late leaving our friends and DD was gnawing her arm off with hunger! Rather yummy....0 -
Well done on the driving, Lovefullshelves.
Sparrer - your trip sounds marvellous and makes me think of the Katie Morag series of books!
MHagster - good to read about the Saturday scone. We are getting a Saturday fish and chip habit and we now have a converted bus/mobile fish and chip shop that parks outside the village hall each week.
Sorry to hear about MrPurplekitten.
Here are my pleasures for yesterday (Saturday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons went off to the ex MrFrith's. He decided he wouldn't see them last week and it turns out he's moved house since they saw him last. I phoned them up last night and they gave me a guided tour of the new house over the phone!
3) Bit of a tidy up while they were away inc turning out the cupboards, cleaning the bathroom etc.
4) Used bits left in the fridge for a stir fry for lunch.
5) Fish and chips from the travelling fish and chip shop bus for tea.
6) My school friend came over for our annual Eurovision watching!
Just sitting in bed now looking at the sunshine and listening to the birds singing. No idea what to do today yet. :-)0 -
Good afternoon all !
Tealady - are you doing the Mr. T cheese Bzz thing??
Sparrer- thank you ! I don't understand people tbh . Previous owner of the tiny one said she had to go as her new man was frightened of dogs. Hhhhmm tough decision ...new blokey or pet? I know which one I would choose;)
PK- I hope Mr. PK has recovered.
5 for today
1. Bargains in Mr. T and coupons . Got loads of stir fry and cook in sauces for around 24- 49p each. In date and not dented or anything. My shelves are now bowed.
2. Watching Jayne Eyre in bed to OH's disgust.
3. Decided to have a "will" evening (not Will as in Smith sadly) . OH does all that sort of thing and in light losing two youngish male family members within 12 months , it's time to put affairs in order. Mum, brother , sister etc . Just need to confirm the date with all , sounds macabre but two wake up calls are enough !
4. Roast beef and all the trimmings for lunch cooked by OH
5. Nice to know our eggs are in the yorkshires and pudding is rhubard crumble with rhubarb from the garden.
Right off to scoff !!!
Have a good day all:D:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Chicken: it does make sense, when DH and I nearly met our demise in a car accident we used the will offer that comes up on MSE to get ours done, and we put them into central storage in case god forbid something takes us both at the same time:o.
1.Afternoon boot fair was really good this time loads of bits and pieces, hanging baskets with liner, big 10 pack of geraniums, cables, tools and leds for DH.:T
2.Popped into Mr T on the way back from the great boot fair just made it in time so also able to pick up some 10p rolls, picked up bandages as you can tell I am not organised for medical things.:rotfl:
3.Cheating a bit this evening I know we have bits and pieces in but we are taking a break and ordering in as also have a £10 voucher.:o:o
4. Cleaned the place up a tad to take it to that lived in look as a few people popping around only briefly in a mo.:cool:0
