Hugs to poorlies, and Skint I feel for you with that flipping fire drill
I had to face horrible external staircases all over the place at Uni2 today and if I get in, I'll have to find out where the lifts are, no way could I tackle them at any time other than good, bright weather!
1. I had my interview at Uni2 today and am relieved its over and am not beating myself up about it as I think I did well and certainly did the best I could, I impressed myself by planning a lesson - for the first time - in 15 minutes!! Hopefully I will treat myself by sleeping well tonight!
2. Lovely looking after by my mummykins last night and this morning when I was a bit low and not looking forward to going through the interview.
3. Lovely daddykins looked after DD for me and did TONS of stuff around the house.....
4. ....and what with the new carpet going in today and looking gorgeous, the house looks lovely and I really don't want to have to leave.......but due to the costs of the above, I only have £600 of my redundancy left so may even call the estate agent tomorrow whilst the place is tidy!
5. Sunshine and lots of it!!
6. Driving along the motorway singing my head off to fabulous music
7. Lovely texts and emails from OH and chums wishing me good luck x
8. Hugs with DD when my daddykins left - I'm sure she'll creep in to my room for more when she thinks I'm fast asleep
9. Have managed to sell an old mobile for £33, every penny helps!
10. The invoice for the survey on my building works was £70 less than I was anticipating! Thank goodness for that!!0 -

Oh and i so wanted it to be the balloon man....:(I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good morning all !
Tealady - me too albeit a stubborn bull in a china shop
Skintos - how horrible for you . I have a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan because the Occ. Health lady saw me by chance trying to get down 8 flights of stairs in a state of anxiety (also cursing loudly)for fire drill and said no way Jose . If its a test they phone me and I have to wait until its over, if real someone has to walk in front and behind me so no one can knock me over and kill me:o. Maybe you could ask for one ?? I think you should have a permanent parking space tbh .
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Ok, apols but seems the cakes have been around, but no happy birthdays. So happy days to those I missed.
I am starting a new section, the Dale Male stupid story thread. Can you spot the commenters who look at the pictures instead of the story. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2317015/Red-faced-Hampshire-pensioner-driveway-laid-lamppost-blocking-cars.html
For the hard of reading, the lamppost came thirst.
And today I am doing something new, Netball. Hope I do not fall over, I may never get up.
Ooooops DD. My favourite [STRIKE]course[/STRIKE] curse. Minds me of two people I worked with.
Steve, always rolled up late, flew off the handle and walked out at least once a week. Wanted to change, but everyone told him he was wrong to think about it, including his doctor. He disappeared, flew to Thailand, and chopped her balls off. After a few months she was to return to work as Stephenie. Duly, human remains gave us all a pep talk about our expected integration with him, over fours hours of stupid games and debate. At the end of the lesson, with the human remains girl incredibly enthused and correcting us all, Mark just said. That's fine, will it had cured his hormones. Knife through butter.
She worked as he had before, finally leaving a few months later. He also now regrets not listening to those he first worked with and his doctor. Problem is, his eagerness for self gratification in 1993, has more than ruined his life.
Gosh, do I have this thing for Social Workers and Educationalists.
Time to catch the 15:17 to the Meggies Beach0 -
Just the one bed, Dundeedoll, unless you count the other one on the patio at the moment!
Glad the interview went well, Kittikins and good luck on the house selling. My sister sold hers earlier this week, we are all overexcited about that.
We had a fire drill during the postal vote work on Friday so all stood on the car park and nearly froze to death.
Pleasures for yesterday (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Not postal vote work!
3) Had a tidy up, did 3 loads of washing etc.
4) Really sunny day.
5) Sons had a good day at school.
6) The Umbrella Team lady phoned. They are all falling over themselves to help me now. Which is great. But we could have done with it 4 years ago... Anyway, the ex Mr Frith has given his permission for smaller son's report to be published so copies are being sent everywhere and I will hear about possible permanant schools soon. AND... she said all their autism courses are starting up again soon and she will put my name on their list. :-)
7) New mattress arrived!
8) Listened to the Archers.
9) Thought I'd have a quick lie down on the new mattress just after sons had gone to bed last night. Woke up at 7.20a.m, all house lights blazing away, washing up not done!
Finally, I have a request! If anyone does the charity shops like me, smaller son would like a Cars duvet cover (from the film). All expenses will be paid, of course. I've never come across one.0 -
Hello from autumnal, damp and a bit chilly Melbourne!
Tea time here....me and girls have had early tea as boys are put and about tonight. We had very yummy fried eggs on toast! Was going to be macaroni cheese and then I thought ooh lets have fried eggs! Very simple and tasty! When I was pregnant with DD1 that was one of my cravings!
I'm listening to Radio 2 and feeling a teensy bit homesick today, not sure why. One of my customers, who is Scottish but lived here for years and has moved back to Scotland but is over here on holiday.....if you can keep up!!
Anyway chatting to her yesterday and today and just kind of wished I was home for a bit! Anyway it was nice to have a catch up with her.....there's a few scots on campus.
I have lovely customers ( a few stoaters too.....good Scottish word!) and today had my breaks with one girl who is from Colombia and is such a gorgeous person! And my lunch with 2 of my regular ladies ! So was nice to sit with them and have a blether! These 2 ladies are very kind to me at birthday and Christmas time!
Nice drive home, big rainbow in the sky. Been a showery day and needed a cardigan ( Ozzies are wrapped up for winter but not really that cold!) the trees are stunning colours. I like autumn , I think I like all seasons ....they all have their merits but I love the colours of autumn and the cosyness of wrapping up and shutting the curtains and blinds and knowing you're in for the night.
My indoor cyclamen has another flower! I haven't bought flowers since I had a houseful for my birthday but bought a cyclamen in Aldi a few weeks ago....it has finally grown another flower! They are so expensive over here ( ....just for a change!) but the one on also was a third of what other places charge.
Think that's my pleasures. Having rtc cheesecake for pudding!
Have a lovely day whatever you get up to.0 -
Chicken What a nice OH you have. I love lobster! Enjoy
PK enjoy your days off and don't give work a single thought!
DD like you 'my' dog is a GSD, but Spaniels are so cute and loving. And exhausting, they can take a lot of exercise before they run out of steam! Congrats on the course
VJsmum well done on the private work, will that add to the holiday fund? Your recipe sound yummy, I like aubergines so will keep it and give it a go. With cheese - reduced fat, of course...
ampersand. Have a successful trip and Spits day
Frith well done on the new mattress, looking forward to your No.1's turning from 'not a bad sleep' into 'a really good one'
OT nice to read about all the new 4-legged babies coming into the forum
Tealady congrats on the freebies, it's fun to open the packets to see what you've 'won' inside. Agree about Lucozade, the original was by far the best. Only allowed when I was poorly as a child though
Kittikins Everything x'ed for the interview result. With the phone and the survey that makes you £100+ in credit, well done you!
Mhags - fried eggs on toast, real comfort food. I don't use salt as a rule but fried eggs must have a little twist on them
1. The rose arrived yesterday and is already planted in its blue pot - Ying had blue eyes so it seemed appropriate
2. Not a today pleasure as such but you made me smile today remembering fire drills. As well as the regular weekly bell test we had them randomly through the month to make sure residents/staff followed procedure. One lady always refused to come down, her usual excuse being 'I was in the bath so I was in the safest place'. I envisioned a rather large lady sitting in her bath with the building burnt to the ground all around her!
3. Took some plastic cells and pots, and a big pot of aubretia seedlings to a lady who sells plants from outside her house to raise money for GOSH
4. Went to my 'new' bank and opened an ISA which is paying well (for the current climate), just in time as the interest rate is being reduced next week
5. reverbe'd a £1 coin in the gutter where I'd parked the car
6. Stopped at Mr M to buy some yogurt, there was a large chicken on the 'still fresh' shelf for £2. Took the wings off for the dog, gave a little bit of breast To Yang for his breakfast and the rest is cooked and in the fridge
7. Watching the Oban weather, it's gone up one degree in a week but still in single figures! Long Johns and thermals washed and all ready to pack
8. Friend phoned this morning and is taking me for a girlie day out tomorrow. Will be mostly window shopping as saving for Oban next week but will be lovely to spend a day in such good company.
9. Looking forward to chicken salad for lunch and plum crumble to follow
Have a sunny May Day0 -
Afternoon all.
Here's my five for yesterday, done quickly before my DPs arrive:
1) A quiet day working from home, so I got some tidying and dusting done - still no sign of the winning lottery scratchcard I've misplaced, though. It was only a £1 win, but it's the principle.
2) Chicken noodles for lunch, LO and frozen from a Chinese takeaway.
3) Walked to the pub quiz and back, for the first time in a couple of months. :j
4) Treated myself to a portion of cheesy chips for dinner at the quiz.
5) Cuddles with a neighbour's cat when I got home - it took me three attempts to persuade her I really had to go inside and couldn't take her with me!
And for today:
1) Glorious, warm sunshine.
2) A fox sunbathing on my shed roof.
3) I couldn't find the CD to install the printer software on my new computer, but then found it was available for free from the maker's website.
4) My DPs will be arriving shortly. :j
5) Curry tonight, with a discount voucher. :money:
Frith - if you've got a Lidl anywhere near you, they're selling Cars-themed fleece blankets for £5.99 at the moment - a friend mentioned at the quiz last night that he was going to get one for his grandson.
Have a nice afternoon, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
PK - enjoy your days off.
VJsmum good news about your DS and his maths. I was always rubbish at maths and I now work with figures every day
Kittikins well done on the uni2 interview, whatever happens at least you know that you gave it your best ...fingers crossed for you, you deserve it x and good news on the savings on the building work !
Chicken, thanks for the info this morning, I have checked our Fire Evacuation Policy at work and arranged a meeting with my manager for next week to discuss a personal evacuation plan and ongoing reasonable adjustments. I am going to ask for a permanent change of hours to work mornings only 4 days a week. The only day I don't have a parking space is Tuesdays as I share a space, and so I am going to ask for an allocated space on Tuesdays. Not sure if this will be agreed long term as my leg is a new health issue and not sure if it will be long term. My previous long term health issues did not cause such a problem with walking and getting around. At the moment its been reviewed every 2 weeks and I wanted to try and walk in on tue to see how I got on....would probably have been ok if not for the blasted fire drill !
Frith - great news about smaller son and the umbrella team, (about time....) they should be falling over themselves considering how you & sSon have been treated before, but at least some positive steps look likely in the future. Great news about the comfy new mattress too !
Sparrer, enjoy your girlie day tomorrow, and have a great time in Oban (you'll be glad you packed the thermals)
CCP have a fab time with your DP's
OOps have gone on a bitPleasures:
1. parking space
2. lovely chocolate biscuit - my boss has started a biscuit tin at work, naughty but nice
3. meeting arranged with boss next week to discuss fire drill and change of hours and car park space.... I just need to work out the wording now
4. lovely red grapes from Ald! very sweet and crisp
5. the increase in pills seems to be working as leg has not been as painful today. Had another afternoon napbut not in agony like yesterday

VJsmum - well done to your DS
Sparrer - thank you x although I don't like lobster as once got a mouthful of sand - put me off for life :rotfl:Glad that Ying's plant has arrived and that you like it x ObanWe stayed on the Isle of Seil with the bridge across the Atlantic (Oban Seil) OH's Dad was born in Oban so it's kind of special .
Kittikins - well done :T You don't give up ,I admire that .
Skintos -good stuff re the reasonable adjustments . They have to work with you on this .It's tiring having a physical dis. anyway and more so as there are so many more things to "negotiate" usually with people who do not have a disability !
