    Evening all.

sparrer - I love foxes. :) When I was a kid I met someone who had a 'pet' one - he ran an animal rescue centre and it was one he had rescued as a cub - and I've wanted a pet fox myself ever since!

DD - how exciting about your new pup! I look forward to further updates, and maybe a photo?

    1) Working from home again, which has been a real pleasure as I've felt dozy and off-colour all day. :undecided

    2) Sorted out a batch of tokens from a well-known brand of cat food and found that I had enough to make a free donation of 9 cans of cat food to the Cat Protection League.

    3) Looking at cats on the CPL website; I won't be getting another one until the end of next month at the earliest, but it's nice to look. :)

    4) Thai-style beef curry for dinner, now I've got over the initial panic of taking it out of the freezer and finding that it was green. (I'd forgotten I put the last of a batch of French beans in it. :o)

    5) Pub quiz tonight: we're aiming for three wins in a row.
Back after a very long break!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A good sleep!

    2) Sons off to school OK.

    3) Went working on the postal votes and got a promotion! They asked if I could do the count (of all the votes) tomorrow. £40 for 3 hours then an unknown hourly rate if it takes longer than that. :-)

    4) Mum and dad babysat today and by the time i got there, sons, my parents and brother had already had several games of table tennis. We also went in search of slow worms (found several) and had a game of football.

    5) Tea cooked by my mum.

    6) Smaller son's Cars DVD came from Ebay today.

    7) Had a good go at the garden. Put some hollyhocks in the front (thin strip between the house and the pavement) and weeded and tidied up at the back. Primulas and auriculas looking good. I planted 40 tulips that I got very cheaply and they are a few days from flowering, by the looks of things.

No Scrabble updates so BoP must have been distracted by the ripped stockings..

    For today

    1. worked at home, didn't get as much done as I'd have liked
    2. This should be no. 1 really and accompanied by a fanfare - the freezer is defrosted :T:T:T:T:T only 18 months after I first decided it needed doing.
    3. Went for a walk this evening - was lovely, birds were singing, trees full of magnolia and apple blossom, daffs in the gardens.
4 Lay on my bed in the warm sun listening to the archers - and had a snooze
    5. went to vote and was able to vote for my party of choice for the first time ever (we've not had a candidate before)

    More snoozing time now.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Firth, Aw now that is something you don't see every day well we do. I was saying as our albinos were going nuts in the kitchen this morning if you just saw one you'd think it was insane. Hope some one is looking for the little one they don't last long out and about.

I am afraid this is short as I wrote a wonderful long essay of about 12 pleasures and I lost the lot 3 times now. so in short

    1. It's our 8 year anniv, and I bought ( as I lack cooking and art skills) hand made ferret shaped cookies with icing artwork of a ferret on, they are amazing.
    2. Packed the COL for a weekend away at a steam fair this weekend.:D
    3. Took delivery of a tonne of animal litter then lifted all of the bags from the front of the house to locked away in a shed at the far end of the garden.
    4. The above led to me clearing the side of the house, weeding, filling the car up with a tip run stuff, and doing all sorts of stuff absolutly shattered now in a good way.
    5. Just came home from a chinese buffet for dinner which was a lovely celebration.:)

I am posting this rapidly just in case.

Thanks DD, (and Chicken), I'm so pleased the courses are going well. The first module of mine was a bit heavy going as part of it focused on acts of parliament with relation to mental health, which isn't particularly interesting. Next module was much better.

    1. Lovely chat with old friend who rang to thank me for parcel I'd sent of a t-shirt I knew he'd like and a book ditto.

    2. Equally good chat with sis. Niece in Wiltshire has new registered childminder, who took her two daughters on a train trip as the oldest loves train. Whilst on the train, my great niece, not yet 3 said "This train is going to Cardiff" (it was, too) "My Grandma K. lives in Cardiff". (Correct!)

    3. Cycling in the sunshine - just a quarter mile or so to the polling station but it was enjoyable.

    4. A favourite former learner posted on FB that he won £1000 at bingo. He lives with his Mum and will possibly always do so, as he has quite marked disabilities, but still works. He's sharing the win with Mum 60/40.

    5. Work going well... could be busier but hopefully this will come.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

PK congratulations on your anniversary, enjoy your weekend together in the COL
    Kittikins what lovely pleasures :D
VJsmum congrats on the freezer, the trouble with trying to empty them is the so's, ys's etc that have to be rescued from the supermarket shelves ;)
Frith what can I say re your sleep except it's definitely :j:T:D:T:j celebration time! On the other hand I'm very cross with myself as I saw a cars duvet cover in Primarni for £6, but got it in my head it was a throw you wanted til I read back through the posts tonight. I won't be going back to Cambridge so if anyone else is near a Primarni, they do have them. Hope you get one soon
DD have a good holiday, but no names in newspapers please ;)
CCP how exciting, looking for a new mog. Pleased you're going through CPL :)

    1. An early start, woke to a beautiful morning
    2. Nice drive through the villages to a friend's home
    3. Met up and went window shopping, it was a struggle but I did quite well ;)
    4. Bought Yang a new bed, he took to it right away in fact he hasn't moved for hours, I think he's glued himself in!
    5. Brought a baclava home which I was too full to have tonight so have it to look forward to with a cuppa tomorrow afternoon

    Sweet dreams :)

Thanks for thinking about cars covers, Sparrer! Its a fair old drive to our nearest Primarni. (They didn't have the blanket in our tiny Lidl).

PK - if you'd never come across ferrets before, you'd have wondered what was bouncing across the road! Dad says they don't last long in the wild because they need so much drinking water (?) Perhaps it'll find enough to drink on the allotment with the water butts, empty flower pots etc. I think dad has 3 ferrets at the moment. They are working ferrets so not in the house. (We used to have one each growing up and make them obstacle courses on the patio with drain pipes etc!) I often embarass sons by doing an emergency stop to pick up some tasty roadkill for the ferrets, I have a stock of old plastic bags in the boot for that purpose.
