Good evening all !
Skintos ((hugs))
Tealady - it sounds like your Mum had a lovely day ! Lovely post . My DM is in her late 70's and I do have that "watch" from afar sort of feeling about her - I see her everyday and do my best to make sure she has everything she needs, cos one day I won't be able to.
VJsmum - I doubt it re a party - he is probably after money or something ,sad but probably true.
Lobbyludd- thank you for reminding me that I have some wine in the fridge , being as it's not a "school day " for me tomorrow
Mcculloch- you are so right re dogs and small critters!
5 for today
1. Work ok
2. Tacos for tea -quorn in mine
3. Pavlova for pudding made by DM
4.Terrier sitting on my leg not very comfortably while I type
5. No work until Monday -woo hoo !
have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
I'll be 42 on Saturday VJsmum and if you could see my grey hair you'd believe it, lol.
1. Random chat with DD when I went back to bed at 5am this morning, she's been in my bed for nightsnaughty but nice....we both need hugs.
2. We enjoyed a graze box this afternoon!
3. Have sorted out a tax issue with HMRC - hopefully a teeny tiny (but still mine) tax refund will be on its way soon!
4. Having been on hold for 40 minutes with Tax Credits, it turns out that joy of joys, I will be entitled to some kind of lump sum payment for the last tax year as I was incorrectly told that my redundancy payment should be included in the salary calculation - what a relief!
5. Helpful student teacher at school has helped me with my maths conundrum for my Uni2 interview
5.0 -
Just a quick one as I'm rather tired and still have a few things to get going on!
1. Lovely course on Autism which I thoroughly enjoyed!
2. Cuddles and snuggles and play with puppy this morning (who has clearly forgiven me for clipping her nails)
3. Catching up with a work colleague I saw on a course about 5 months ago
4. Getting a lead on possible permanent employment within the company that is not shift based!
5. A ready made pasta dish that I just need to stick into a dish, pop some cheese on top and stick in the oven.....great as I've been out the house since 7:30am...and I'm TIRED!GC January 2015 - £0/£1200 -
Shower and early bed pre-Spits...have an overhang of pessimism re:tmrw, prob. just reflex mood after knowledge of assured income last week. Haven't really picked up much interesting or new this week, nor have I changed a darned thing. Car's just groaned about, loaded and untouched from last Thursday.
On verra.
1. Feeling disputatious about weather man just announcing 'it touched 22C in East Anglia today'. Oh, really? Where in EA exactly? Pray tell. I've had jumper and jacket on in cold wind, under cloudy sky and that despite afternoon of lugging almost a tonne of york stone curve sections, odds and ends by hand from a>b. Job done.
2. Some digging, trailer loading for good measure and rubbish all out for tomorrow, neighbour's included. He is so nearly immobile now, it is heartbreaking. Still has 2 years to wait before he can claim his pension, despite a lifetime and peerless career with horses. Shock absorber knees and hips have had it after 35 years. Racing Welfare have tried everything.
3. Plonked some late bulbs in, watched by Mme Merle - approvingly, I like to think. Shortly after, she and robin followed me round back and she lolloped across so-called lawn, ignoring bread, and suddenly lunged into the grass. Up she came with a ginormously fat elastic worm. To pull it right out, she had to hop backwards - success on the 4th go.
4. Ate another Dunkerque melon charentais, of which one can never consume too many.
5. Finished 'The Oxford Murders' - Guillermo Martinez. Teasing, clever, intricate and reminded me why I love playing with maths, but nowhere near this level. Fine translation by Sonia Soto, too.
http://plus.maths.org/content/oxford-murders
Strongly recommend.
6. Don't suppose it's a reverbe, but it feels like it, so scarce are these nowadays.
£coin found under edge of mat.
7. Wouldn't say I followed Elizabeth David yesterday, but had book open for pleasure of reading as I ratatouilled my French l!gumes. About 30 slowest hours poss.in ditto cooker, with lid off and occasional stirring has become a lush thing indeed today, for scent and savour. And I know it will only get better on successive days, a bit like leftover Chinese...yum!
Sorry you're still having trouble skint. I think you and ccp need a heads together healing day for each other.
Take care everyone.

Evening all.
I haven't had at all a good day today: my surgery appointment this morning was with the grumpy nurse, for whom everything is too much trouble - she was so unpleasant that I had a brief cry when I got home, which isn't like me at all - then got my new PC and quickly found that it doesn't seem to work properly - it's horribly noisy and I can't get any sound out of the speakers - so my plan to watch some snooker on TV has had to be postponed until I can call the shop tomorrow morning. Why don't technical things like me?
Anyway:
1) A long lie-in this morning as I couldn't think of any reason to get up when I first woke up. :undecided
2) Arranged for my DPs to come over and visit next week. :j
3) Defrosted the last portion of spicy beef and turned it into a rather tasty pasta bake.
4) Opened a bottle of wine to go with it - well, why not?
5) I have downloaded the next part of the series of books I started reading earlier this week on to my kindle, so I have at least got something to read this evening.
Frith - I'm so glad to hear that your DS has finally got a proper diagnosis - hopefully you'll get more co-operation from the schools and council now this is in place.
And welcome to the new posters this week who I haven't yet waved to.
Have a good evening, all - I promise I'll try to be more cheerful by tomorrow.Back after a very long break!0 -
Chicken, Tealady and anyone else - make the most of your mummies. I miss mine every single day
Ah, Kittikins, 42 - the answer to life the universe and everything
Hello brizzledfw and welcome
Oh CCP - drink the whole bl00dy bottle, you deserve it.
For today
1. Didn't have to do the school run - OH did it :T
2. Had a lazy bath before tackling the marking. I have a month or so of marking now so may as well take it easy
3. One student's answer in his mini test made me laugh "One of the advantages of gas is that it can be stored in gaseous form" :rotfl: I really want to get a "no sh*t Sherlock" stamp
4. Finally ratatouilled my aubergine - which still isn't a euphemism
5. I am finally wearing my woolly pully, which as it is short sleeved is perfect for today.
Nighty night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
