    Afternoon everyone :hello:

I'm doing a pretty rubbish job of posting on here, but it just seems to be manic at the moment. Or is it just constantly manic because I'm not as organised as I should be? Probably the latter...

Anyway, my 5 pleasures for today:

    1) Charity bag filling up slowly for the local air ambulance shop!

    2) Vegetable seeds planted in our new raised beds. No doubt every lettuce leaf will actually have cost £5 to eat, but we've got to start somewhere.

    3) Managed to lock my keys in the car, just as I was about to leave work. :wall:DH drove home from work, picked up my spare key from home... and then drove to my work to unlock my car. I really must put the spare key back in its special place for next time...

    4) Lovely salmon with pesto meal tonight, straight out of the Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food book. Yum!

    5) Erm, it's payday tomorrow? There's a "y" in the day of the week?

    Have a good evening everyone.

  • I did my tax online the other day Businessgirl. From what you say, this is the first time you have done it. Well done on all the progress you have made in getting so far, so fast. Go you!

The first time I did an online tax return, it took all day as I didn't know what paperwork and figures to have to hand.
The second time it was much quicker... and the third.
I did my return online the other week; it took half an hour as all figures were to hand and just needed putting in.

Frith, wow re the ramsons/garlic. Nothing like that growing round here. I have never known my daffs in such good fettle so late. The early ones have just gone over.
DD, coo... yup, you did Edinburgh.
Chicken, laughter and tears all in one post. May it be good news..

Oooohhh any tips about what I should have to hand etc?

  • I just read all your lovely welcomes - thank you they sure brightened my afternoon.

Morning started a bit...well low. I think I might have taken on too much yesterday and worn myself out however it was an amazing day and I was soon cheered up!

    My pleasures today were....

    1. Sitting outside soaking up Vitamin D in the sun...bliss
    2. Making homemade orangeade to take with to the all day course I'm going to for work tomorrow- and sipping an ice cold glass of it whilst soaking up said Vitamin D....
    3. Making Cauliflower and Cheddar soup which I hoped to stretch to 4 meals...grossly miscalculated so ended up making TEN meals.....the freezer is full for those nights when I really just can't be bothered to cook - and it tastes amazing!!!
    4. Cleaning out my handbag...one of those jobs I just never seem to get round to!
    5. The fact that I'm about to take the puppy for a walk on such a lovely evening...and the fact that it's light still after 7! I love this weather!

    Evening

    Pleaures for yesterday and today,
    1. Catching my train oop north with seconds to spare, must do more exercise as after running up the escalators at Kings Cross nearly did me in:eek:
    2. Dad picking me up from the station so saved on taxi fare :D
    3. Brother raising lots of money in his bar for charity night plus watching the pain on his face as he was waxed for the charity.
    4. Couple or three glasses of fizz, very nice it was as well
    5. Won a watch in the raffle which I gifted to my dad who is very happy with it.
    6. Being able to wish my mum happy 70th birthday today in person
    7. Lovely lunch with DM and some of her friends
    8. Hearing the town crier wish everyone a Happy St.Georges Day.
    9. Sight of my mum riding around the town on her mobility scooter with a big Happy 70th Birthday Helium baloon floating above her head. This prompted the staff of a clothes shop that she goes in a lot to sing happy birthday to her
    10. Taking parents Westy for a walk and him now been slumped at my feet whilst I'm typing.

Hugs to all who need them

DD sounds like a super weekend. Did you go up the little spiral staircase to QM's rooms? Imagine being incarcerated there for so long :( What surprised us was the tiny bed, she must have been no taller than me!

    :)

    Busy day here.

    1) Had the appointment with smaller son's paediatrician. He now officially has Aspergers Syndrome and they would like him to go to a primary school with an autism base attached.

    2) Went to tell mum and dad. Mum read through the criteria and said "But we are all like that sometimes" (sigh) but dad was surprisingly sensible about it.

    3) Sat out in the sunshine while brother worked on the stairs in his barn.

    4) My sister popped in for a cup of tea and gave me some paperwork and she'll pay me to do it.

    5) Had HM pesto for tea with spaghetti.

    6) Sons home from school happy and bigger son had made potato wedges in cookery. I had sent some smoked paprika in and they were really nice.

    7) Holby City.
  • We are an ice cream short of a dessert now. Wobbly jelly. Gosh ticks mes buck to Steel's Corner House and Grimsby fish.

Pleasure tonight. Signed Grimsby Town shirt. Pride of plaice. There is no pleasure to beat that.

Hope every one is well, including those running to the trains.

Bonsoir à tout et à tous - special welcomes to bg and jillie. vickyA - no hamster wheel guilt needed. Just come and go as you can/as you please/as you need. Total empathy over keys in car 'Spot the deliberate mistake' moment. It's horrid - my last one was outside Paris last September. Glad you had someone to help put things right.
I've put back some Thanks that seemed to have disappeared. dkw this happens.
Love the sound of your pesto and garlic things, Frith. Best relaxing wishes for tomorrow - all will be well.

1.ncd/npd/nsd yesterday. Want to make at least 1 day a week putah-free.

    2. Saved orchid definitely has 5 fattening buds which were no more than notches on old stem last week. It's been bare since crimbo.

    3. Debadgering at College was free hier, because of last week's plumbing+cancellation farce. Better yet, in came fruit tartlets, à la française, with the usual offered coffee - very decent effort by the pâtisserie students across foyer.

    4. Today sorted proxy voting for next Thursday when I'm@Spits, after another jolly jaunt across ditch, j'espère. [Glad to see it's Pride of Britain again.] Have had to make 50+mile round trip to hand in downloaded form in person before 17h. Postal voting appns closed last Wed: I received polling card on Saturday.

    5. Rang Fen boys to sort out MOT for next week. Fingers crossed, then it'll be another mse marathon as I finesse down the car insurance, esp. after paying £228.72 for the 6-month gas bill today. But done is done and this site gives us tools to do our best with the variables. Hope I can follow in skint's footsteps.

    6. Route back mysteriously autopiloted via garden centre. 6 more pots from the halt and the lame section, inc squidged pot of French tarragon in which I count 7 little planties:-)...on verra. I'll do my best.

    7. ems - not sure what I'm feeling about this atm.

    8. NZ cousin's son's USA rugby trip is on the f/b thing and they've just beaten the National USA High School champions 52-20[and what a lumberous sentence that is]. He's already spotted as a future AB - bop, are you listening? Meantime, I'm letting myself enjoy anticipation of Toulon vs Sarries @ Twick on Sunday. I'll wear a distinctive NZ Maori rugby shirt I found in Cogolin's mercredi puces last summer. It's in Toulon's colours - black/white/red and a haka written on the back, while I join in with 'Tou-lon-nais, Allez! allez! allez!'...'parce que Toulon', c'est leur chanson.

    Tuesday's treats.....

    1. Sunshine :)

    2. Great time at Rainbows, we played in our lovely garden, played What's the Time, St. George with a load of dragons and, sadly, one of our lovely Rainbows graduated up to Brownies, so she came in to say goodbye and gave us leaders a little pressie, so cute. We'll all miss her, especially as she goes to school in a different village so I won't get to see her at pickup like I do all my other old Rainbows.

    3. Took back some things to Arguuuus and it was, for the first time in ages, easy, no hassles from a jumped up assistant!

    4. DD and I attempted to have shish and fips on the beach as it was such a nice evening, but by the time we finished faffing around, it was getting cooler and later, so we ended up at PHut (not MS but definitely needed by that time!)

    5. Lovely waitress, we got chatting and turns out she's going to local uni to do PGCE in September!

    6. DD's belly laugh when I commented on the way home that as the waitress is 23 and I'm 41, I'm old enough to be her mother! Once she had recovered sufficiently, she said "If you were 10 years older, you'd be her granny"!!!!! Cheeky chick! but very funny :)

    7. Great day at work - especially when I realised that I didn't have to do a ton of work I thought I did, just half a ton's worth ;)

Grrrr, couldn't sleep, so have got up, checked my bank account - yay to payday, but its less than I was expecting :( and double grrr, exOH still hasn't paid maintenance this month :(:(

At least I can listen to the dawn chorus :)

I'm listing for the weekend really!

    1) planted my raspberry canes and repotted blackberry and broad beans
    2) seeing the garden finally starting to come to life
    3) was given onion sets from neighbour to plant out
    4) had a fire in outdoor woodburner getting rid of most of the rotting decking that I'm removing, whilst having glass of wine with friends
    5) nearly finished refurbing old comfy chair to read in and was given 2 (new to me) books which I can't wait to start
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
