Oh, sparrer, I'm so sorry to hear that. RIP Ying, and hugs to you.

ampersand - that's great news about your new arrivals. I keep seeing a Monsieur Merle in my garden, so I hope he's got a family somewhere nearby, too.

ccp does your gran grow money in her garden? Or did it blow in?

I asked my GM for some seeds and she just laughed, so I think it was blown rather than grown, sadly. :(

    1) A good dr's appointment this morning - it looks like my foot is finally healing, after a year of problems, and I shouldn't need any more surgery. :j

    2) Grumpy nurse was much less grumpy with the doctor looking over her shoulder, and agreed to let me have a smaller, lighter dressing on my foot so I could put my shoes on and go outside again. :j I've never enjoyed a ten minute walk to the shops so much before. ;)

    3) Received an email from a local Indian restaurant with a voucher for 20% off, which will be very useful when my DPs come to visit next week. I don't know how the restaurant got my email address - I haven't been in there for a couple of years at least - but I'm not unhappy to hear from them! :money:

    4) Received some wine I ordered online yesterday, partly paid for with a voucher - I can't remember the last time I paid full price for a bottle of wine. :money:

    5) A yummy dinner planned for tonight - steak pie and veg, followed by banana and custard, with a glass or two from the bottle of wine I opened the other night.
Back after a very long break!

    2) daffodils all out very cheering
    3) we had cake in the office to celebrate friday. Custard slice nom nom and very messy to eat

Tired this evening but here are my pleasures for today so far:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) More postal vote work! That's another 3 hours of wages.

    3) Had my packed lunch in the forest on the way home. In the hail.

    4) MrN looked after my sons so I could go to the nursery (having a open day). I got some sweet pea plants and a big pot of hollyhocks.

    5) Looking forward to listening to the News Quiz later (or is it the Now Show? Can't remember).

    6) Bought a mattress online today! (With my earnings that I haven't had yet...) I have had the same one since I was 21 so definitely time for a new one. It's like sleeping on a xylophone.
  • Hugs to SPARRA.

Oh Sparrer, so sorry you are sad :(

Yayy for CCP's foot though - was it the wine wot did it?:D
Hello Mhagster - nice to see you back with us.
Didn't eat the rat, Ampersand, it's gone in the freezer
Chicken - we use those Mr T vouchers a lot. I noticed the other day that you can get some instantly on email now. Which is a good idea as we can choose where to go on the day, rather than "we must use those Pizza Ex vouchers before they expire". I have just got some Mr T vouchers for DD to take 3 friends to Alton Towers.
DD and Frith - I shall do newsquiz in a mo, while i tidy the kitchen, then the latest Lil and Paul saga, or Tom and Bren, or Ed and Jazzer or....

    So, for today

    1. Invigilation was OK - didn't drag too much. One poor soul was so ill though, I think i could see the bugs flying off him. I'll be lucky to escape without a cold by the end of the weekend.
    2. I think my Yanks did OK - judging by the volume of writing anyway. I shall mark the papers on Sunday. Said another goodbye to them.:(
    3. Colleague loved the flowers and wine we gave her for her birthday today. I had to resort to what they had in Marks at 8 o'clock this morning, but luckily they had something modern enough for her.
    4. Had my hair done, I am de-greyed. Always fun at the hairdressers, they are barmy.
    5. Ooh just remembered, got kind of headhunted. A fellow invigilator, when he realised what I taught, asked if I could teach 2 units on his course. The irony is that it is not only the course but one of them is the very module I wanted to study myself next year!:rotfl: It is a bit "physician heal thyself". The other funny thing is that the school is Computing and Networks when I am a complete computer numpty - that would have them rolling in the aisles.
    6. DD's passport has arrived :T She can take that call from Spielberg now ;)
    7. Got £5 off my Ald! shop and £10 off my Mr M one - so that is another £15 towards the "big holiday" :money:(I generally split my shopping between A and a small M (cos there are things I don't like to buy in A) - much quicker and cheaper than going to a big supermarket)
    8. My first glass of red wine for yonks - delish!

It's my wedding anniversary tomorrow - 22 years. We are off cycling the High Peak Trail in the Peak District - which, despite it's name, is nice and flat! Hoping for a pub lunch.

Well, the kitchen won't clean itself.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    1. Reasonable visit, but racketty with many small jungle-oid children and staff under pressure, stressed and over-stretched. Had a good idea which worked.
    2. Ratatouille and organic black rye bread - lush combi.
    3. To Mr T for petrol but saw a price check voucher for £2.11 and 65pt womble by hole in wall. Free nanas[mispriced+dtd], toms on vine[@£1.99 per kg cheaper than Market Value 650gm net - explain that one] and nat yog, made a pleasingly nil£sy little shop, with a further 83p price check voucher for tmrw's Grauniad fluttering in trolley with which mine finally mated.
4.dd, ditto your no. 1. Crazy weather today, watched a divided sky into the wide blue yonder while I was hailed on, quite heavily. 3 phases of this. Have just put more washing out nonetheless.
    5. Trailer of rubbish roped and ready for early start.
    6. Possibly lucky chance find of heavy[for size]bronze picture frame, well-moulded and raised with fabulously fluid dragons. Quite a bit of age. Lovely patina. Original green figured silk-paper brocade inner, at first hidden beneath brown paper. On verra.
    7. Just hearing captivating piano intro to Margaret Drabble short story on r4x reminds me also of how much I'm relishing hearing Penelope Wilton in Elizabeth Jane Howard's latest Cazalet, 'Confusion'. She is wonderful in anything and everything. I also cheer the fact that continuity does not say 'Starring...'so-and-so - NOT for the Wireless, thenk yew. Just another of my anals.
    8. Have had several more looks at my Twickenham ticket for Sun.

I am so thrilled about little robin family and just now saw Mrs Thrush on no.2 shed roof with a single long straw in her beak, in the manner of a trapeze artist.

Don't remove the woollies yet, nor disdain the hwb. Remember a cold and frosty w/e looms. Even more reason to stay snuggled on new mattress, Frith - in anticipation, I realise.
Yes vjm, I'm freezing rest of rat now.

    Evening

CCP - Great news about your foot, it needs to get better NOW
VJsmum - Happy Anniversary for tomorrow

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Moved the excess money from last month out of current account into ISA. Planning on taking DD for a weekend in Paris sometime this year so all helps.
    2. Treat DD to lunch and she did her college work in the office this afternoon, this way she can't be distracted by TV and things.
    3. Good day for freebies - 2 bottles of coke zero, 2 bags of posh crisps, 2 packs of very posh tea (Ampersand - make sure you pick up the free Waitrose weekend paper, pge 12 voucher for twinnings tea silky pyramid teabags) and free waitrose magazine. Also had 3 birthday cards from Yorkshire Tea each with a teabag in.
    4. Catch up with friend M on phone was a mixture of some quite sad news and the good news that her DD has passed her driving test.
    5. Dinner was a bit of a mish mash of things but came out quite tasty and a portion left for OH to have tomorrow before he goes to the beer festival.

Hugs to all who need them

Thanks tealady - didn't have time to fit in W8rs visit today as visiting has been shoved back too late and subsequently, little orange petrol light took my eye, demanded libation.

Apologies for patchy add-ons today, but just laughed aloud when I saw this:
