5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Because my life is a bit dreary and austere at the moment I thought I'd try to do the 5 OS pleasures thing as often as possible. It's like counting your blessings isn't it? So ...
1. I have made my first slow cooked stew in my new slow cooker
2. I have made bread and butter pudding
3. I used my £5 voucher in Aldi and got loads of lovely stuff for my storecupboard, so we will be able to eat for a while without worrying where the next meal is coming from.
4. I managed to watch Saturday Kitchen without interruption this morning and some crap TV this afternoon.
5. OH has remembered the really cheap cola for the loo (30p)! This means that he may be taking the austerity measure seriously.
6. I may spend the evening drinking cheap wine.
That's actually six. No 5 was slipped in there as OH just came home as I was trying to find the fifth thing.

Welcome madmary - 'It's like counting your blessings isn't it?'....exactly so, and we have a few vents, rants, whinges and sorrows at times, because there is a pleasure in leaving them here, understood among friends.
Apart from which, I for one want some of your b&b pudding please - love it.
What does cheap cola do for the loo?
re:'5' pleasures. Consider that notional, number being a human construct. Your no.6 definitely permitted.
1. Tip trip done, always most satisfying and answers something girly-blokey in me. Pukeko wellies again duly worn. Besides which, 4 lovely fellas saw me struggling with 4 corners of last heave-ho tarp of hardcore and Took Charge. Add to this Queen blasting out 'Another One Bites the Dust' over the dump generally[3 speakers:-)] and it's great fun jollies.
2. In such smart attire, P&R'd to Library. The dump's not 100m down the road.
Found 2 new French authors - looking forward to both.
3. Fickle moi, swapped from Grauniad to Daily Torygraph today, for the Homebase freebie: 6 free strawberry plants - chose Cambridge Favourite, had to really. if you missed out today, it's same thing tmrw, via the Sundays.
4. No w8rs today, but great luck@MrT. Another womble, 86pts; another price check voucher for £2.28 and a clubcard apple offer which didn't work. G., who is a lovely older lady, rang CC to report failure of this barcode. i was surprised it was taken so seriously, but learnt they are having to ring HO with every customer mishap now. Instead of 25pts, CC are adding another 250 as goodwill! I really think they are realising they've taken their eyes off ball these last months. One v.pleased &...and with [STRIKE]£4[/STRIKE]rtc 85p 100gm smoked salmon with sweet chilli?...hmm, we'll see.
5. Met B and had ages-long chat in road when I rtn'd a short while back, Turns out we've both had same whooping cough/pneumonia, both had short Addenbrookes stints. In both cases, it's been young Dr S who's been THE man, He's not B's usual GP either, but by golly! - we are both full of his praises.
6. So, ici suis-je - ready for bed, with early start for P&R/Twick./T-O-U-L-O-N semi-final triumph demain. Nice munch for day in hand - w8rs cod fishcakes[as tiresomely boasted about the other day], salmon[<no.4]on grainy cold toast[cholesterol confession: I love it, with roughly 2.6cwt butter per slice], nanas, apples, 2 Thermoses, binocs, camera. Looking forward to the whole day.
7. When here, can spend far too long just watching robin parenting forays from kitchen window. They are so busy, so close and merles are both in nest-stuff gathering frenzy, just over apex of no.1 shed roof, so can't quite see where. Just now, they've both been attacking the hanging basket liners and rushing away with beakfuls of coir.

Well ampersand the Cola is meant to clean the toilet bowl. I haven't tried this but we're having the pouring ceremony tonight, leave it overnight and lo! a sparkling loo. That's the theory anyway. What gave me the most pleasure was the fact that OH had even been paying attention to my OS hints.
You would be welcome to some of the B&B pud but not sure the internet could cope. I love it and it is definitely an OS treat.

Thank you, love and hugs to you all. Eyes still a bit leaky, normal service will be resumed as possible. Bless you for your kindness x0

Hugs sparrer - when you are ready to once again count your pleasures, we will be more than ready to hear them.
Hope you have a super day tomorrow Ampersand
Welcome Mad Mary
Lots of people - enjoy your takeaways!
Chicken - I don't always like him - sometimes he pees me right off, as I'm sure I do him. But we rub along well, generally in the same direction.
So, anniversary pleasures
1. Decided not to hoik up to Derbyshire as it would mean at least 2 hours in the car and we would have to get our arrises in gear to do it. So we had a lazy morning.
2. Instead we cycled from the house and round the country lanes. We had rain, wind, hail and sun - we cycled 23 miles, our knees are creaking but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Saw some villages we've never seen before - even though they are less than 10 miles away and we've lived in the area for 20 years
3. Got the pub lunch in too - nice 16th century coaching in. homemade venison and steak pie and, unusually for me, chips
4. Fired up the new chimenea come bbq come pizza oven - himself loved it as i knew he would. But, "we need logs"
5. Had a bbq with the kids sat round chimenea. Don't think we've ever had such an early one before.
Lovely day - just as well, cos I'm marking tomorrow.
Nighty night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Good morning one and all! Sunday afternoon here and need to start thinking about what's for tea!
No scones this weekend, OH has been very poorly ( he had his good day on Thursday so this is usually followed by 4-5 bad ones) so it's been a very quiet weekend chez Mhagster!
However, washing and ironing all done and put away.
2 lots of soup made and portioned up for freezer: one roasted peppers and onion with bacon and the other veggie.
Went to supermarket this morning and was there at the perfect time! Loads of fruit and veg ( that I needed ) was reduced to clear and a few bakery items too. Managed to get lots of other stuff on special offer so I was quite pleased with my 7.30 am haul!
I am almost, almost caught up on my Holbyfest! Only 2 episodes to watch and I'm all caught up since moving out here! Then I can go back to reading books for enjoyment!
DD2 was at a party last night so it was a late one for her. When I went in to collect her I was given a very pretty and sparkly cup cake which I have still to eat.
Nice phone calls with friends from home and catching up with their weekly news. New mobile provider gives unlimited UK calls which is great.
As we hadn't shopped yesterday I popped in on way back from dropping DD2 at party and got rtc pizza, salads & cheesecake, perfect Saturday night tea!
Watched a funny comedy yesterday afternoon.
Have had a Saturday and Sunday snooze.....makes up for waking up at ridiculous o'clock!
That's a few pleasures on such a quiet weekend.
Enjoy your day0 -
Good morning all !
VJsmum - you do make me laugh !
Mhagster - ((hugs)) re your DH
Sparrer - ((hugs))
5 for yesterday
1. Couldn't put down the Selina Scott book about her house in Mallorca .A colleague lent me it last week, had to finish it .
2.The OGV failed its MOTHowever it failed because a CV boot had split ( not perished still looks brand new) garage wanted £150 to fit a new one as its an A*di part - OH got the part and fitted it himself for £6.76 - clever boy .Mechanic will hopefully just pass it next week , he said it was a lovely car too:D
3. Got bank statement and checked online accounts re my reshuffle - got another lot of interest from the ISA that I wasn't expecting because of the account change.
4.Roast chicken for tea
5. OH made a ton of toffee after his exploits under the car for SIL's birthday today. Its lovely - not so keen on it covering my hob, worktops etc..
Have a good day all:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Guess what is in the Steamer, but we also have homemade smoked haddock fishcakes, (Non Icelandic) served with Mushy Peas and Scallop tatties.
I fear that I get in now, rather than wait for the Chief Mud rat to report from Rodney Parade.0
