welcome tabsmagic, good to have you on board. Sounds like you do some worthwhile bartering, good for you. (Love bacon butties, might have to hunt you down ;))
Pleased your colleagues spoke up for you house elf, nothing worse than feeling grotty and trying to struggle on.
I was fascinated by rocky road nuttybabe, so I googled it and am shopping in the morning for the mini marshmallows which is the only ingredent I don't have :D. Does the pic look yummy or what?!
Lol elizabunny, does that make your pooch an Andrex puppy?;) Hope things start to turn round for you soon, and thanks for the reminder, I haven't got this week's lottery ticket yet
Bless you for taking time to post Ollie, was beginning to wonder about you. Have a good sleep and hope you have less to do in the morning
Hope everyone who's feeling down, under the weather, stressed is soon back on their feet and feeling the sunshine again :)

    My five -

    1. Had to return a jacket that was too tight in the upper arms - cut very strangely. The alternative I chose was dearer but I was told I could have it for the same price - so I should think!

    2. The pharmacy computer has had a nervous breakdown - I went in for my scrip this morning and got two of one item and none of the others. The sa checked and it says I haven't asked for a scrip since Nov (silly as I don't ask for one, it's a regular repeat) but the items I got were dated end of Jan . Both sa's were worried the comp was going to start spitting pills across the shop, had everyone in fits of laughter:D - the best medicine, we all said we felt better after that

    3. Sold my old oak dresser to a nice couple who thought it was lovely. I've very mixed feelings, I know I won't need it when I have the refurb but I did like it. It doesn't fit in with the style of house so it's going somewhere it will, and they paid me what I asked for with no haggling :T

    4. The dining area is now very bare, and very big! I was able to clean the floor and skirting board there at last, the dresser was far too heavy for me to move so it hadn't been done for ahemcoughcough years :o

    5. Had my delicious korma for dinner, made from left over sauce from a couple of previous take aways, a chicken thigh and some yellowing broccoli (same colour as the sauce so it didn't show ). I'm not a rice lover so had it with a crust from the bag in the freezer which I'm saving to make a b and b pud one day

Isn't is funny how we mostly include at least one foody pleasure in our five ;)

Night night (((hugs))) everybody and sweet dreams

Hi, everyone, my five for yesterday:

    1. Yummy curry in Bath with friends, and a pretty cheap one.
    2. Completing another 1,000 words on my latest short story.
    3. Finishing the week well ahead of budget - February is a tight month for me now that I've bought my travel insurance.
    4. Reading more great online fiction.
    5. Yummy homemade chilli for lunch.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
  • elizabunny good to see you back, hope your troubles come right soon.
sparrer I'm afraid my pleasures are usually heavily loaded with foody matters, could be something to do with the fact that I spend a good part of my life in the kitchen.

    Yesterday's pleasures:-

    1. Sunshine - in my garden, I don't see much of it in the winter month's but it's back which is wonderful so-

    2. Dried my washing on the line.

    3. House cleaned and tidied, it's so good to be able to get it all done in one swipe now that DH is retired and helps.

    4. A nice fresh walk to the shops where I found-

    5. A Joanna Sheen DVD on card making in P**ndland.

    Hozzat - no food!

    Bella.

  • Hi Everyone,

Been an avid reader of the OS forum for some time now but this is my first post.
Love this thread in particular as it makes you appreciate the really good things in life.

My five for today are :-

    1. Waking up to a blue sky and a little glimpse of sunshine. Noticed that the daffolils are pushing through the soil. Can Spring be on it's way at last?

    2. Friday is my day off from work so anything's a pleasure today - even the ironing pile !

    3. Mum dropped by for a morning cuppa and a chat.

    4. Defrosting a curry that I made earlier this week. That'll do for supper - means I don't have too cook.

    5. Evening will be spent at the pub with OH and good friends, putting the world to rights.

    Evening all,

Reverbe - I loved the Life of Pi. Probably one of my favourite books - it is very clever.

    1) Having time for a cup of tea at the station before heading to Manchester. Usually when I get trains from Milton Keynes I have a disaster of sometype and miss my train so it was a relief to be there a little early for once!!

    2) Presentation in Manchester went well and our client seemed please with all I had to say.

    3) Yummy sandwich at Piccadilly station - it was a cream cheese bagel with sundried tomatoes, pesto and peppers... delish!

    4) Getting home by 3pm! WOW! I would love to finish work so early always.

    5) I had time to take the broken vacuum cleaner in to be looked at and to pop into Aldi for a few bits and bobs. I got a watermelon which is lovely. Eating watermelon always reminds me of hot summer school holiday spent lounging next to the swimming pool.

Best of all... it's the weekend... and the farmers market is on Sunday. I love going to the market to see what's on offer.

Have a super duper weekend everyone.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening all

Sparrer - they are addictive! You have been warned!!! :D

1 Finished dh's 'pot of love' for valentines day. I only had to pay for wool, 2 love scratch cards and a few ingredients for the goodies I have made him!

2 Dd getting a valentines present of her 'boyfriend' and giving him a kiss to say thank you. So cute!! She gave him a heart shaped stained glass easter biscuit as I made some for dh's pot of love so made an extra one for him.

3 Huge pile of ironing done this afternoon

4 Eating more rocky road! Gave some to one of the mums at school this morning and she asked for the receipe for both!!

5 Friday night is fakeout night! Pizza and chips and a film. Kids not moved for 20 mins. Not a peep out of them!!! :T

    Have a lovely evening everyone.

I might struggle to find five things tonight as I haven't had a great day. There was nothing serious in there, just a series of petty irritations - I've spent the day with a sore throat and think I've got a cold coming, I've got a patch of dry skin on my hand that keeps splitting and bleeding no matter how much moisturiser I put on, I've had an annoying day at work that ended with nothing much finished, there were no trolleys in Tesco and the customer services lady I reported this to was totally indifferent ("well, there's nothing I can do about it"), I forgot to buy any milk (I have special milk so I can't just pop up to the local shops and get some), and when I finally got home I found someone had stolen my parking space so I've had to park in the next road.:mad::mad:

    Ahem. :o

Right. Now I've got that out of my system, my five (hopefully):

    1) I had a nice cuddle with my puddy tat this morning and again when I got home, which I hope means he's forgiven me for taking him to the vet on Wednesday.

    2) I've got HM pizza for tea, and a piece of banoffee pie to follow as it was on special offer in Tesco.

    3) I remembered to put the washing machine on when I got home so I'll have a clean jumper for tomorrow.

    4) I've got a good job that I like, a nice flat that doesn't have water running down the walls (as my last one did), and enough money to treat myself to banoffee pie. :)

    5) In a minute I'm going to go and put my lemons in the glass bowl I made for them in my evening class, and later I might take one out and add its juice to some whisky as a cold cure. ;)

:D I got there in the end!
    ***********************
Welcome pomadaprincess - I promise I don't usually rant like that!

Reverbe - I hope you like Life of Pi. It's not a favourite of mine but I did like it, and rather wish I hadn't give my copy away now.

sparrer - that's a very interesting point about the food - I hadn't noticed as I spend so much time talking to my friends about food and cooking that it seems entirely natural to me (I'm not quite sure what that says about me and my friends, tbh :D). Maybe people who like food are just more inclined to live an OS lifestyle, or vice versa?
Back after a very long break!
