Hiya all
Mine for today
1 I bought 3 books for 40p in the library this morning.
2 A few woopsies in netto.
3 I spent the afternoon making milk choc rocky road, white choc rocky road, milk choc and baileys truffles and fruit loaf. Dh's valentine pot of love nearly finished now. Only a few more things left to make.
4 Dd ate all her tea. Pasta bolognaise. She ate it all :T and no screaming fits whilst doing so!!!!!
5 Even managed an hour of crochet this afternoon. The new sparkly pink teddy is looking good so far!
Best get back to him otherwise he will never be finished in time for my neices birthday.0 -
OK, I'm going to have to cure my curiosity - Caterina, what is Morsbagging, please?
Hi all,
CCP: Morsbagging is making bags out of recycled fabrics and then distributing them to the unsuspecting general public for free. Here is the link of where it all started: www.morsbags.com
Here is me, a couple of days behind as always! Challenging day today, I resigned from the volunteering I was doing at the Real Bread project, it was really not working for me. Pity because it is such a good project.
I also went to see someone for a much more local volunteering opportunity and was thoroughly mistreated by the admin assistant, a very bossy and territorial person. Although all she said was technically correct (by the book, in fact!) it was said in a really officious and supercilious way. I was there offering to give my time and skill and she was talking down at me! I have left a message that I want to talk with the project manager (who I know already - had spoken with her about volunteering AGES ago!) so when she calls I shall tell her what happened and will also tell her that I shall NOT volunteer because I refuse to sit in the office with that harridan. Came back home so upset I had a long cry (but also being hormonal so I was more upset than necessary, really!).
Anyway, here are mine for the last couple of days:
Tuesday:
1 - Osteopath session for my neck and heel (yes both ends not working too well!). This is the same guy that did me the personal training in the summer and he is so good, and also hysterically funny. Had a great treatment and a lot of laughing too - told him it is like going for osteopathy AND therapy! The best part of it is that I shall be refunded by my cash health insurance so it is free, too!
2 - Craft class, started making my tweed skirt from the pattern I bought the other day, with fabric that was in the class (it would have cost a fortune to buy!). Coming along well. Will give a donation for the fabric.
3 - After class I went for a massage treatment (still getting these at a discount so I am taking advantage while I can!).
4 - Free cinema with DH, courtesy of LilacLillie (THANK YOU!) who gave me the tickets on Sunday. Preview of a film with Robert DeNiro and Drew Barrymore, Everybody's Fine. Very beautiful, quite sad but feel-good too. Highly recommended when it goes out on general release.
5 - After film we treated ourselves to dinner out, special offer on Thai menu, good veggie choices.
6 - DD's BF brought home more good quality bread from his workplace.
Today:
1 - Resigned from the project I have been volunteering for the last few weeks. Sad because it is a good project but a "pleasure" of sorts because it was not working and this is a positive decision to make more time for what works in my life instead of persevering in what doesn't.
2 - Lunch in a cafe with DH who works near the project - after I left I called him (I needed a bit of TLC as was upset) and he came out of his office to have lunch with me. Great man, love him to bits.
3 - Although I had a very unpleasant experience in another place where I went to enquire about volunteering (see above), both experiences (what did not work in the project I was and the way I was treated in this other local charity by the MINION) made me reflect on how good I have it in the charity I work for. I moan and whinge about my job but then, when being faced with the practices (or lack thereof) in other voluntary organisations, it makes me realise how much more advanced our organisation is than so many other charities and agencies. It has strengthened my resolve to make my job work.
4 - Back home a lot earlier than usual, managed to fit a couple of hours paid work, this means that tomorrow I can relax and stay a bit longer at the Stitch and Craft Show (courtesy of LilacLillie who invited me to share one of her free tickets THANK YOU!!!). Really looking forward to it!
5 - My friend brought me a piece of TOMATO SOUP CAKE (!!!) that she had baked for her DH's birthday. Very nice it was too, even if I could only taste a tiny bit because it had dairy in it. The rest of the family will gobble up the rest, no doubt!
6 - Because of me being a bit down, DH and DS are cooking tonight. The darlings.
7 - My cat Twist, who had a bit of trouble with his eyes, is looking much better, as the vet had predicted. But I was worried all the same, a bit like with my kids!
Edited to add:
8 - DH, DD and someone who hardly knows me all complimented me about my (home-)blow-dried hair!
Have a good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Greeting from a very sleepy Ladyhawk... *yawn*
Only two days left of work until the weekend... only one day in the office. I am going up to Manchester on Friday for a 30 minute meeting... what a waste! Though at least I can chill on the train.
1) My boss and I are friends again, which is nice. She is a really nice person... she just drives me crackers!
2) Had lunch from the Egyptian take away round the corner from the London office, which was YUMMY!!!
3) Spoke to the big boss on the phone and she was delighted with a peice of work that I have done. She didn't have too many changes to make either, and rather than just telling me what to do she asked my advice. Everyone is petrified of her because she is rather scary if you don't know her or she doesn't trust you.
4) Didn't get an interview for a job I had applied for... but that's ok since things seem to be going ok again at work - even if the hours are getting longer again.
5) A note from a friend of mine who has been oout of work for about 18 months... she has got a new job!! YAY!! It was so nice to hear her sounding positive again.
Night night everyone. Keep warm and safe.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hi everyone, here are mine. Short and sweet as v. tired today, dd decided to stay awake until midnight yesterday, perfect timing, though no doubt she must be aware of our worries.
1) tea and porridge in bed.
2) cuddles from dd and promise to go to bed on time tonight, at the moment she is in bed singing and playing with her Dora the Explorer dolls...
3) hardly any queues on the way into work this morning.
4) long telephone call updating big sister as she couldn't attend meeting yesterday.
5) really great pm from sparrer, thanks I'll be following this up with the care team - forgot to say that my grandma (mum's mum) has been living in sheltered housing for several years so step-dad should be reassured really.
Attending two day company conference from tomorrow, hoping they have free internet at the hotel (for some reason although we've information on everything else, they haven't told us about that and I've been too busy to check). Night everyone."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
House elf - I know the Crooked House well! Have you seen the marble going the wrong way up the window sill? (Grandma's post cremation do is going to be at my sister's - at Wordsley).
5 for today.
1) Both boys went to school OK although little son does have a bit of a cold.
2) Cleaned the bathroom (least favourite job) etc.
3) 2cm of snow. This immediately shut the main road (sigh) but it looks pretty.
4) Made a roast chicken for tea, plus Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots. Plenty of chicken left for tomorrow.
5) Spoke to solicitor twice today. All rather exciting ready for court tomorrow. Some of the info we had requested about the ex has started to come through... Bit worried that he gave the children a BB gun (he has a court order not to) and I have to take it into court tomorrow - through all that security and an X ray machine! I have a horrible feeling I will get stressed and say to the guards, "Oh, hello, I.... HAVE A GUN IN MY BAG!!!" and will get wrestled to the ground before I can explain!
6) Dad is coming with me to court which is nice of him (Grandma was his mum). He often does but I didn't think he would this time.
7) Going to watch Holby City on iplayer later with bigger son.

Mine for the past two days:
1. Good meeting with boss yesterday, confirming my new working hours are working out well for everyone. Phew!
2. Lost more weight - but this is likely to be reversed a little today as annoyingly I've hurt my back again and am a bit spaced out on tablets/too much food this evening. *sigh*. Oh well, tomorrow is another day, not going to let this beat me.
3. The reason why I hurt my back is because my lovely papa brought DD home (pleasure in itself) this afternoon and helped bring down my desk from the loft and put it back together. I was at the bottom of the loft ladder taking heavy bits of wood from him and my body is complaining vehemently.
4. It's gorgeous, wonderful, lovely to have DD homeHowever, she's still not really well, and probably shouldn't go to school tomorrow, so I think another day off may be in order.
5. Sky have switched off some TV channels as I don't pay a subscription fee, and just use the box as a freeview type box, but I've found a regional substitute for ITV, so hopefully will find other channels, or just live iwthout themI don't have an aerial so it's the box or nowt, and Midsomer Murders is on

Evening all
didn't get on yesterday as my Mum stays over alternate weeks for one night, so we were nattering
Here's my little list.
1. Found a house point ticket in DS bag, he'd been sent to the headteacher for his excellent hopping and bean bag work in multi skills classThis is great as he used to HATE multi skills as his co-ordination wasn't great, but he tries so hard. He didn't even tell us he'd done well, bless, he sure isn't a show off !!
2. Enjoyed my Mums company.
3. Had bangers and mash for tea - yum.
4. Had a good declutter and have bags of stuff for charity shop and a few bits for Ebay, it's going to be a LONG job. Put DS changing table on Ebay, didn't think we'd need it now he's 4 - lol.
5. Made some cute little felt love hearts last night for Valentines pressies for DS and OH.
6. got our electric and gas bills today and didn't faint, must get a reading done though as they owe us money - can't be right
7. At the ripe old age of 40, watched The Lion King with DS for first time, ahem, it made me cry. I had to go in the kitchen to erm, prod my sausages
Off to sew a bit of my nieces wedding sampler now and watch - whispers - Midsomer Murders, I love it, it makes me laugh, talk about guilty pleasure.

Good evening everyone
house elf - hope you feel better soon!
Caterina - thanks for the explanation of morbagging - it sounds quite intriguing. I'm sorry your volunteering didn't work out - it's a shame there are always a few unpleasant people around to spoil things, isn't it?
ACEY - good luck in court tomorrow. Please let us know how you get on - assuming you don't get arrested for possession of a gun, of course!
Anyway, my five for today:
1) NSD - my first for... um... quite a while.
2) It snowed! Only a little bit, but I love the white stuff - it's so rare on the south coast.
3) Took some stuff up to a charity shop so I can feel all charitable, even if the lady in the shop didn't seem that impressed with my offering. (I had been in the previous day and confirmed they were interested in what I had, so it's not like the stuff wasn't wanted.)
4) Took the cat to the v*e*t* for a check-up. He got a clean bill of health (and is apparently very good for his age), and, as a bonus, the check-up was so quick, and I had to wait so long, that the vet didn't charge me for the visit.
5) Got back rather late and ended up throwing together a spicy prawn soup from stuff in the fridge - as is so often the way with thrown-together recipes, it was delicious. I doubt I'll ever be able to recreate it, though!
Have a nice evening, folks.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all,
Caterina - Thanks for the explanation on Morsbagging
CCP - Thanks for asking what it was
House Elf - Hope you feel better soon
My pleasures for today:
1. Had my appraisal at work today which was a lot more positive than expected. New boss is really pleased with the work I have done so far. I didn't think he had really noticed what I had been doing but just shows how wrong I can be. He's also got a few interesting projects lined up for me going forward and some good training planned.:j
2. Baked lemon drizzle cake and chocolate cup cakes this morning to take to work. These went down really well and gained me another couple of brownie points with boss:rotfl:
3. Toad in the hole for dinner tonight with some Chirizo added for extra flavour, yum
4. Nice walk at lunch time and walked home from work tonight
5. Chat with my Brother on the phone tonight
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Caterina what a pity you were treated so badly. Heaven knows there are few enough volunteers, the rude little miss should be taught to treat them with much greater respect. Good for you having a word with the project manager about her
Lol jollymumy, I know that feeling - always worried they'll realise their mistake and send me an amended bill as big as the national debt:eek:
'I have a horrible feeling I will get stressed and say to the guards, "Oh, hello, I.... HAVE A GUN IN MY BAG!!!" and will get wrestled to the ground before I can explain!' rofl ACEY, wish I was a fly on the wall! :rotfl:
Good for you savingforoz, sometimes it takes very little to make up your mind. I get so cross with the pushy ones who want the relationship to move like a rocket and won't take it odaat
Another favourite saying Ollie ' I've got to go to the refuge' as if I'd been beating hell out of them . They meant the refuse room
My five -
1. A lie in, long lazy shower and two cuppas before I even thought of starting the day
2. A very nice lady and her son came to pick up something I'd offered on f/cycle. There's a bit more space in the dining room now
3. Yet another nsd - tomorrow will be different though
4. Made a korma for tomorrows dinner
5. Managed a few minutes pottering in the garden before the cold took my breath away and the snow drove me indoors. Surprisingly the pansies in tubs and hanging baskets have all recovered from the heavy snowfalls of last month, strong little things that they are
Night night (((hugs))) everybody, sleep tight
