  • Evening all,

    Wow www.morsbags.com really inspiring!

Oh boy I'm tired so a quick update:

    1. Made sandwiches today for a change. Big doorstop ones!
    2. Having jacket potatoes and for the first time ever doing a criss cross cut on them (like the Lurpak ad). Small things!
    3. Um that's all so far.

    Night all. :A

Welcome tabsmagic. Looking forward to hearing more of your thrifty pleasures, they sound good.

    Here are mine for yesterday:-

    1. Made a huge pan of cream of cabbage soup. It does not have cream in it nor even a stock so is a very cheap recipe and ideal for using up surplus cabbage. I am conditioned to spick up the biggest cabbage but there are only two of us........,

    2. Potted up the polyanths I got from Aldi for a tub at my front door.

    3. Awarded myself a long sit down as I have been working very hard just lately with all this OSing.

    4. Learned to crochet 'ripple' pattern from Lucy's wonderfully clear instructions on her attic24 blog.

    5. Making a 'ripple' baby blanket from my LO/reclaimed pink and white yarn, so the next baby girl who happens in my life will have a baby blanket waiting for her and I will have a cheap present at the ready.

    Bella.

Hi, everyone, my 5 for yesterday:

    1. More spare change found at the gym.
    2. Having a mega session on my latest short story - did 2,500 words yesterday.
    3. New season NCIS on TV - love that show (and the guys in it...:D)
    4. Email from a friend confirming that I can have a TV for free from someone she knows.
    5. Delicious savoury tofu loaf for tea, with mash, gravy and lots of veg - yummy.
    6. Phone call from a friend yesterday, whose mother died recently - it was good to talk to her and find out that she's coping OK.

    OK, that's 6!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Morning All,

Decided to stay home today. Feeling a bit guilty about it, so listening to a discussion about Mathematics on Radio 4, to make me feel like I am doing something useful as I type. ;) (I need a sneezy smiley here!).

    Yesterday

    1. My class all trooping down to show me the valantines cards they had made in art. :smileyhea
    2. My colleagues all ganging up on my boss to pursuade him to send me home.
    3. waking up from a snooze on the sofa to a blizzard which made the trees look beautiful, but didn't stick on the ground.
    4. Bed at 9pmish
    5. Paracetamol. I'm always amazed it is never makes the No 1 greatest invention ever.:A (DS2 awake at 4am with toothache).

Hi to Tabsmagic - your cafe sounds wonderful. As Sparrer says it's just like friendly cul-de-sac here!

Nuttybabe - reading my Martha Stewart mags and saw this. Not crochet, but soooo cute! http://www.marthastewart.com/article/city-mouse-toy

Have a lovely day everyone. HE x

Thanks for that house elf. The knitting is in rounds so i might be able to crocket him using the same pattern (or dig out my knitting needles!!!). Added to my favourites for future use!

Thanks again, hope you are feeling better soon.
  • Afternoon all :)

    My five for today:

    1. Going for a walk with Ds to try out the new buggy - sooooooooo much easier and lighter than lugging the pram around

    2. Visiting a friend for coffee and the kids playing nicely together

    3. Its thursday so i take DD to her drama class at 5pm and get an hour all to myself to read my book in the car as its too far away to be worth coming home whilst shes there.

    4. Silent Witness night :j Ooooh Dr Harry Cunningham ;):p

    5. Friday tomorrow! Then its half term next week so no getting up and out for school so early :)

Oh got to add a sixth - 3 parcels came today, ebay purchases, a lovely skirt and 2 tops - all Miss Selfridge which i love but cannot afford to buy new :D

Hope everyones day is going good

    Hi all

thanks for all your kind words about the people who did not treat me well on the volunteering front - you know what, their loss!

Got to be quick as I need to be somewhere in 10 minutes. Here are my five for today:

1 - Met up with LilacLillie who kindly gave me a free ticket for the Stitch&Craft show. THANK YOU AGAIN!

2 - At the show I found a stall that was selling clothes patterns very cheaply (4 for £5), got 4 but of the multiples so it is much more than 4 models - including some nighties and pijamas, now I know what to do with all the leftover fabric from torn quilt covers etc (other than morsbagging of course!).

3 - Free sewing magazine in the bag with the patterns (not curent issue but still interesting).

4 - Free hot drinks with LL at M&S in Canary Wharf, I still had some of the free vouchers from my credit card.

5 - Managed to do a lot of work and two birth plans, this means I am almost up to date for this week, tomorrow I only need to do 2 hours work!

Have a good evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening All...

i am sleepy again tonight... 11 hours in the office does that to a gal!! Not looking forward to leaving the flat at 6.15 tomorrow morning to go to the Manchester meeting...

    For today:

    1) Called the insurance people and they were fine about not having the no claims certificate just yet and said to contact my old insurer to get one. All done now...

    2) One of my colleagues let me know on the QT that he has resigned. It's a pleasure because he trusted me to tell me, and because he has been so unhappy recently. I am really pleased for him.

    3) Got loads of work done today. I sure am pooped! So early night tonight.

    4) The lady that sits opposite me bought me a roll of fruit pastielles... my favourite!

    5) Getting everyone in our team to agree on a new structure for our team meetings which are frankly just dire!!! I keep getting told off for looking bored in them hence my being tasked to liven them up.

    Night night all.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
