Comments

MY OS pleasures today:-
1. A shopping trip with DD.
2. The usual coffee and scone here before we went to save our pennies.
3. The usual picnic in the car in Mr. T's car park to save some more pennies. The flask of hm soup and hm roll with the scrapings off last night's chicken went down well.
4. Making a card for my 90yr old aunt who is going to hospital to have something nasty removed from her nose.
5. Enjoying my favourite blogs of the moment The Quince Tree and attic24. They are making my fingers itch to get my crochet hook going but I have so many projects on the go at the moment.

Evening all,
Mine for today:
1. Having a good sort out at work as move desks tomorrow. I have never seen my desk so clean.
2. Working on a project in the new job where I could use my past experience, things are definetely starting to improve
3. Lift home from work off OH as he was working local to my office today
4. Coming home to the lovely smell of chicken casserole in the slow cooker, unfortunetly is smelled better than it tasted:eek:. :eek:Was a bit tasteless so will need to try harder next time.
5. Enjoying a glass of port from the christmas stock
Hugs to all who need them0 -
5 for today:
1) Still haven't got my voice back so didn't work at school today. Had a good tidy, changed my bed etc.
2) Did a fair amount of sitting about watching television! (This is quite rare).
3) Mr Tesco brought the groceries. 2 swaps - they didn't have my sensible sized block of cheese so swapped it for a massive block. Didn't have ordinary potato wedges so put in McCains special, herby, peppery expensive ones. You only have to pay the original (cheaper) price. :-) Got a nice chicken to roast for tea tomorrow.
4) Had a few chats on the phone with my sister.
5) Bigger son went off with mum and dad to watch Bugsy Malone. This has become an annual event for him - my parents take him to the high school where my sister works and he watches their production. Sister met them there. They are taking little son to Hereford market in half term.
6) Little son and I stayed here and my brother came round and they played on the Wii. I made a tray of flapjacks and finished the tin of treacle off so they also made some stilts from the tins and some string. Little son has hidden them in his bed so he can use them in the morning and suddenly be tall enough to see bigger son in his top bunk bed and make him jump :-D
Just time for a nice bath now.

P.S Further Grandma news. It remains a mystery how she suddenly went downhill so fast. The hospital still won't release a death certificate and there will be a post mortem on Thursday. Grandma would have like the intrigue of it all and wouldn't be at all phased at the mention of a post mortem. She lived in a police station for years and did the paperwork for Grandad - he was a sergeant! And he used to have to sit in on post mortems as part of his job. Its still very strange without her (and its only been nearly 48 hours!) and my brother lingered on the stairs here to look at the photos that are up that have her on them.0 -
Evening all,
Thanks goodness for the Wii eh Acey? Hugs to you. I lost my Nan many years ago but I still have really fond memories. Hugs. :A
1. Had a massage this evening, ooh it was lovely. Gonna sleep well tonight.
2. Helping someone at work today. They were stuck and I was a fresh set of eyes.
3. Dropping off charity bits, so nice to put stuff in the car in the morning and then drop it off later in the day.
4. Tried a Quorn meal today. Loved one wasnt keen but I quite liked it. Good to try different things.
5. Watching Chinese food in minutes on Channel 5 this evening. Everything looked delicious. Here's the link, let me warn you though, it will make you hungry! http://www.five.tv/programmes/cookery/chinese-food-in-minutes/59145 I did warn you...!

Evening all...
My good day had been spoilt by a letter from the insurance people - I had forgotten to send them my no claims bonus stuff and now want to charge me an extra £350... I can't find the no claims bonus stuff anywhere... I have a nasty feeling that I shredded it by mistake. I hope that a quick phone call will straighten it all out.
1) Work was good - I still feel in control
2) My presentation this afternoon went well and they gave me lunch.
3) I was roped into attending a dinner tonight to make up numbers. It was all very low key and the food was good. I also like all the colleagues that I went with so it wasn't a chore.
4)Posted off another DVD that I sold on amazon
Anyway - hope everyone is having a good evening.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
scotrae the new job sounds good, long may it last :T
Mr Lahey you're so right, this board is a bit like living in a friendly cul-de-sac! We all look out f or each other
Ladyhawk if it's a change of ins company your previous co will have your ncb on record, might be worth getting them to send you a copy. They might charge but nothing like £350 . All ins co's share info with each other so someone has got it on file.
My five -
1. A nsd
2. Giving away a couple more items to freecyclers. One sent me a lovely email this evening, saying how much they love it and it's going to be put to good use daily
3. Brilliant sunshine after the drizzle this morning, cold but bright and looked like spring. From inside
4. Phone call from a friend telling me she's going in to hosp for an op on Friday. Great news as she's been waiting 3 years, just to have her tonsils out!
5. My DNeighbour put my bin out for me. It's one of the nice things she does every week, I always thank her and try to remember to bring the empty bins back as far as the gates in the morning, the least I can do. She does look out for me, bless her.
Night night (((hugs))) everybody, sleep tight

Evening everybody  - been a lovely day here but soooooo cold.
scotrae - good to see you had a great first day in work- good luck in avoiding the coffee shops - it's a tough one to crack if you're a coffee-lover. Have you got one of those individual coffee cafetiere's that you could perhaps take into work so you can make a decent one while you're there? Pack of coffee would set you back from £1.65 to around £2.50 which has to be better than £1.75+ for one cup.
ACEY - sorry to hear there's a delay with the death certificate and a pm to be done. This is a horrible time for families, not being able to get arrangements fully organised or to move on with grieving. What stars your sons are - them actually reading to YOU instead of the other way round - fingers crossed that you manage to chase that cold away ((((HUGS)))) to you all.
mineallmine - your comment on 'cold gel patches' for headaches has just brought a lovely memory back to me. Does anybody remember those '4711 Cool Cologne Sticks'? They looked like a 'Prit Stick' but old ladies used them to rub on the forehead for headaches - not sure what was in them, but they always felt 'cool' and the light fragrance helped as well - my nan kept one by her bed and always took one in hospital. That's a great reminder to us all about unwanted coats/blankets for homeless people - thank you.
sparrer - totally agree with you about 'pensioners' parties'. I used to keep an old wheelchair at the bottom of the stairs in our communal building. At the end of parties, there was ALWAYS one who 'needed a lift home' after having partied a little bit TOO hard. They used to forget that I was back on-duty at 9.00 the next morning.
CCP - thanks for the info about the Weetabix Cake - maybe the recipe I'd tried was a 'bit of a dud' then. Will have another go using that recipe of yours then
. Good luck with the meal planning - it never works out for me at all - usually scuppered by OH wanting something different .
Mr Lahey - Hope you have a good few days with all your family around you.
Tealady - good to know that your DD is happier at school after your 'chat'.
savingforoz - sorry to hear that Mr Right wasn't ........... - shame but at least you had an evening out :j.
Muppet81 - lol at your 'girls' enjoying their porridge - even if they thought it was for paddling in.
GirlySquare - have now cleared some space in my messages folder - so can you re-send your message. Wd on you, sis and aunt presenting a united front to the meeting. Is there a re-hab ward in the hospital where your mum is - those usually involve patients being encouraged to get dressed properly each morning, potter around making their own beds, helping to make/distribute cups of tea/biscuits etc to each other and generally socialise INSTEAD of just being 'patients' - does help to get them back into something more like a proper daily routine. Does the hospital/local authority have any kind of 'home from hospital care package' planned for your mum? These are usually set up initially for around 6wks to help the patient re-integrate back into their everyday lives. Sometimes people need the full six weeks, and some manage it even quicker. Sometimes it takes longer - depending on what their health issues are. If longer than 6wks is needed, then it's usually passed over to the local authority Social Services department to continue on a longer-term basis through a Community Care Agency. They should send you a written copy of what was said/agreed at the meeting you've just been to.
nuttybabe - wtg to DD for wanting AND eating cabbage today :T
bella - hope all goes well for your aunt with her op.
mineallmine - wd on your relaxing massage - sleep tight
Ladyhawk - good luck with the 'no claims stuff' - can't have them asking for an extra £350 .
I'm going to leave off from posting my own right now - too tired to carry on typing for much longer. It's been a long work day and I need my beddy-byes. Nitey nite all - love Ollie xxx0 -
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Getting lots done at work and laughing so much with a colleague at lunchtime that I was in tears.
2. Getting 1,000 words done on my latest short story.
3. Doing a Reverbe - nice shiny 20p at the gym and I didn't hesitate to pick it up in front of other people.
4. Delicious meal from odds and ends in the fridge - leftover rice, marinated tofu, veg. Absolutely yummy and it felt like I had a free meal.
5. Getting too many texts/messages from a guy from the online dating site, which has annoyed me. This is good in its own way because I was unsure as to whether he really fitted what I am looking for, and now I know, so can move on.
6. New season CSI on TV.
7. Lots of lovely cuddles with my beautiful foster cats.
Have a good day, everyone.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
