Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Hi everyone
Thanks so much for your good wishes Girlysquare. I've calmed down a bit now and DH is going to come to the meeting if he can make it, DS school is so pants at communicating and it made me so mad.
    Anyhoo,
    1. Had a lovely day with DH and DS, DS has been very cuddly today :)
    2. Planted up some tete a tete and primulas and used some old vintage cups as planters, v.pretty and thrifty !!
    3. did a bit of crafting and made a few ATCs.
    4. DS made me a card all by himself and wrote it on his own, it's gorgeous !!
    5. Posted off 2 birthday cards we made for my sisters birthday and some photos that I know will make her smile.
    6. spent a bit of my birthday money online on some earring making bits.

    1. Another NSD :)

    2. DD and I had great fun making 2x banana loaves, measuring out and she was in charge of the mixer controls......shame the stupid things didn't cook properly and had to be thrown out, I'm not sure if my oven is playing up or whether I should just not be allowed near a cooker these days! :(

    3. I sorted out some more clothes for recycling

    4. Looked through my handbag and found a £6 off £40 spend at Mr T's which might come in handy.

    5. DD had a lovely time at her best friend from school's birthday party, but was still tired and overwhelmed by the games so we had lots of cuddles and cheered them on instead.

I've been focussing on work this week and haven't had so many non-work-things to report, other than a bird of prey flying alongside me briefly on my way to work one day (perhaps the day it took me two hours to get there ... grrr!!!!).

    Today:
    1. Having a lie-in after my first working week in a while -even though DS1 did insist on coming in to ask me where his book was / which numbers won the jackpot last night / if he could have a go on the computer ... from 6.15 onwards! He'd not been good settling last night and kept coming downstairs, so was supposed to be on a bedroom curfew til 8am.
    2. Getting a gorgeous book for my boys to give to MIL on her birthday - 'The Really Useful Grandparents Book' - including lovely old-fashioned craft ideas, templates and recipes among other things. Only £3 (80% off) in The Entertainer and it's a nice old-fashioned hard-backed cover. I'd have had it for myself and covered it in brown paper!
    3. Finding a large preserving-type jar in Poundland. It needs a wash but if it sparkles I shall go back to get the rest!
    4. DH went on the batik workshop which I'd booked for his Christmas gift and he really enjoyed it. He said it was great fun and "therapeutic" - even though he was the only man there! He even went to the wholefood cafe with everyone else for lunch and had beetroot stroganoff, which I'd never have imagined him trying!
    5. DH showing me the product of his day - a truly amazing batik painting of Worcester Cathedral, from his own design. It's just brilliant and I can't wait to get it framed and on the wall along with our sons' pictures. It wouldn't look out of place in a gallery for £100 - not bad for a first attempt and amazing considering the cost of the workshop, with all materials provided. (Hopefully he'll be inspired to focus on his art a bit more now that he's rediscovered the pleasures!)
  • Evening all,

    1. Leaving Jojoba oil in my hair last night.
    2. Lovely bath today.
    3. A cream donut from Greggs!
    4. Seeing sunshine.
    5. Getting a new scratching post and one of the cats literally running up to use it as soon as we put it down...ahhh.

    Night all.

    4. Opening the first of three flat pack boxes, containing 2 dining chairs, and finding the ladder backs are already made up
    5. Getting everything ready for Spring Festival, dinner prepared, wish lanterns all set to go, door banners hung.
