Hello, been MIA for a couple of weeks.

Weathers a bit cooler( yay!) pleasant enough through the day but cool as soon as sun disappears. We all have 2 quilts on beds and sitting with blankets on our knees!

    Beautiful autumn colours on trees

I've joined the gym at work.
We were offered a very reduced annual fee and I went every day after work last week..., I am not one of life's natural athletes!!

Had my Saturday scone yesterday ( I'm on Sunday now), we didn't make it that far last weekend as OH was very poorly. However I enjoyed yesterday's all the more for missing a week :)

Work has been challenging ! However it pays my wages so just have to keep going!!

A plethora of parrots to make me smile each day .

Receiving a letter from a friend.

That's about all I can muster from past 2 weeks! I've been keeping up to date with all your pleasures though!!
Take care and enjoy your weekend x

    Pleasures for today.

    1. Not a bad sleep.

    2. Have been pondering lately on never having a relationship again. Really can't think of one positive that might come out of having one. Then walked past MrN in motorbike leathers. ;-)

    3. Spring cleaning! Hoovered, dusted, cleaned bathroom and all windows, cleaned stove out etc.

    4. Leftover Janssons temptation for lunch and steak and mushroom sandwich for tea.

    5. Found geocache that I just could not find the other day.

    6. Went to sister's house for boardgames and cup of tea.

    7. Back now and about to watch casualty.

Just switched on here and truly relieved to see your post mhags although you've been sailing choppy seas on two fronts. I'm just glad you're back, which isn't to make you feel you're on a treadmill here.

    1. There is no doubt. I held off until certain. Mr and Mrs Robin[murderous little adulterers as they apparently are]are nesting in under corolux corner, right under bathroom eave. I hear nothing yet, am so tempted to somehow rig up some pericscope/mirror thingy, yet know I mustn't. Said a little Goodnight to anything/anyone brooding, when I came in just now.

    2. Listening to 'strict grammarian, Mr Gwynne'[beeb's description] on r4 ce matin:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01s02xb

He has a silly clox spot on r5's Up All Night sometimes, how I first heard him. This sort of anal is right up my street and I love his passion, his care, his diction, his rationale in the joy of correct use of English and its imperative.

    3. Large bright lime yellow butterfly settled amid blue hyacinths on green stems which have shoved up through burgundy new-growth spears of old peony crowns. Contrast and beauty for the memory bank .

    4. Round trip and timings all worked - College Salon, Bank, Grauniad@Mr T, quick hello to K at our Charity and some interesting bits[including massive carved chinese table base, for which I need to rtn avec trailer - must be mad], jumble/carboot[more books, I fear:o]and a deeply,well-cut crinoline lady 50's dressing mirror[another Too Big]. Crossed fingers deffo needed for Spits this week.

    5. Then to w8rs for free coffee and little bikkie PLUS hugely lucky buy from fish counter: sproncey hand-line caught etc.etc.HFW aprroved cod fishcakes [STRIKE]£1.39[/STRIKE],[STRIKE] 2 for £2.40[/STRIKE]rtc 39p each! and the offer still worked - so 1 dozen=£2.40 Pkgd in prs, in freezer already.

    6. 2 lots of washing dry today, folded warm, smelling lovely from the breeze.

    7. I've just done it - bkd the other 2 P&O daytrips+ 6 bottles free Piat d'Or, for 1 and 8 mai. Any vide-grenier buying can come from Thursday's remainder. Allowed self 100€;have 70+ left.

    8. Need to do this one in tiny, tiny type - have also just bought ticket to Toulon vs Saracens semi-final@Twickenham , next Sunday Now I'll go defiant and stroppy and say I don't care. It will be wonderful, cathartic and I will doubtless earn ire by shouting for Toulon. It will still be very smell-of-oiliest-rag venture, as mine are..

    9. Away to bed now, with paper, books, radio, black lapsang....and a last lot of washing on o/n. I am feeling fully appreciative of many simple pleasures in this sudden, if overdue, change of weather.

Wishing that everyone has had similar 'thankyou' moments of pause today.

mcculloch it's perfectly okay to laugh, I did too. After I'd cleaned up!
Chicken no I didn't ha ha
CCP the mogs thought it was birthdays and Christmas in one :D
ampersand I travelled with P&O twice to Santander and was very impressed with them. I believe it was on the Pride of Britain which sailed that route at the time.
mhags good to see you posting, sorry to hear OH hasn't been too well. Hope he picks up again soon.

    1. DD & SiL went to visit a breeder this afternoon and are on the list for an African Grey. They may have to wait up to a year but I knew it wouldn't be long before they started looking again ;). There's no guarantee but they're said to be quieter than Amazons, which would be a relief after Oscar!
    2. Lots of laundry done and line dried
    3. nsd/npd
    4. Stuck to planned menu and didn't have any extra's or cheats!
    5. Doglet came to stay with me on a temporary basis on April 21st 2006 until DD found him a permanent home, as he was being bullied by her other male. She did find one after a few months but I told her what to do with it :p. It's what you might call a permanent temporary home

    Sweet dreams :)
  • Frith ... there's no harm in admiring the view ;)

Mhags good to hear from you and to hear saturdays scone has resumed x

    For yesterday

    1. lovely warm sun
    2. pottered in the garden and even managed to cut the grass
    3. lots of washing line dried
    4. lounged on the sofa caught up on recordings of Elementary & Endeavour, really liking both shows
    5. got quotes for house insurance.

Last year paid House/contents insurance £269.24 (includes zero excess, accidental damage, personal possessions away from home laptop/phone/x-box/camera )
    renewal quote £336.02 ....
after phone call offered me £268.18.
Went online and new customer quote £195.04.
second call to them for new renewal quote ...now £234.26. Ridiculous

I have told them not to renew. I will check other quotes and if I cant get it cheaper I will join them as a new customer for £195.04 :j mega saving .... plus I went to the website saynoto 0870 and got a freephone 0800 number to use from my landline to make all the calls to them instead of the 0845 ;)

Hope you all have a good day x

Cardiff City could be in the Premiership after today's result.
    Go Bluebirds! C-I-, C-I-T, C-I-T-Y, CITY!

DS is a Cardiff fan (when he isn't being a VIlla fan - one up one down?)

Nice to see you back Mhags - your poor OH is really going through it.

A quicky from me too as I am endeavouring to get Glastonbury tix again from 9.00 - not a hope really but I have to try

    1. Sunshine
    2. WOrk was OK - one good prospective student one so-so. Neither have applied anywhere else. THe boyfriend of the So-so one came along and was dominating everything. I managed to keep my temper with him but if I were her I'd run a mile.
    3. Got home just after visiting friends arrived. It is always lovely to see them and we had a wonderful walk along the canal, followed by
    4. A drink in the garden of a pub - the garden!!! with no coat on!! :j
    5. OH cooked a jambalaya for tea in his new paella pan - t'was lush and I drank too much but I don't care and seem to have got away with it :T

    Have a fabulous day..

    EDIT: I GOT THEM :j:beer::T:j:beer::T
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Good evening all !

Mhagster - sorry to hear about your OH:(

Frith - yes, looking is ok, but you know the bloke inside those fetching leathers !

Sparrer - my sister was looking for a home for her sons African Grey . Son moved out (age 36 -I should think so too!) for the millionth time and she already has a Green Amazon and its all a bit too much for her and the neighbourhood to have two .The grey does the smoke alarm noise , alarm clock etc a real treasure! Not sure if she still has him but pm me if you would like me to look into it.

    5 for today

    1. OH let the hens out this morning so slept in.

    2. The bread I made in the breadmaker following the recipe ,last time was vile - halved granary flour and used half white flour instead of following the recipe - turned out great and saves me buying it.

    3. Made a marinade of fresh ginger , chilli, garlic and sesame oil - left chicken breasts in it for stir fry tonight. Had mine as OH is out -it blew my head off :rotfl:OH will kill me :D

    4.Had a snooze this afternoon.

    5. OH cut the middle out of some plastic drinks bottles , put string through them , hung them on the wall in the garden filled with soil and have salads growing in them .Very Blue Peterish but out of hens reach.

    Have a good evening all
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    Weekend's joys :)

    1. The sunshine yesterday - it was so lovely to be outside in a tshirt and shorts.

    2. Helped a friend out after she helped me out - traded lifts to/from station for dejunking the greenhouse and most of the shed.

    3. Delicious afternoon tea in the village with DD and her chum, some people I know were fundraising and it would have been rude, especially with my new tax credit payment burning a hole in my pocket, not to......a glass of prosecco and a piece of cake, nomnom :)

    4. Played in the park with the girls and we saw most of the village, love this place, especially in the sunshine!

    5. Babysat with a sleepover at their house, the cutest, loveliest toddler, my L :) and then had her with us most of the day as her mummy had a bit of a fall last night on her night out, and mummy and daddy spent a lot of time in A&E and then came home shattered and mummy in lots of pain... So :( for them but :):) for us as we had a whale of a time!

    6. Had an afternoon sleep with little L as she was a bit freaked out by being put in my bed, so decided to join her to show her how comfy it was.....DD said we both snored :)

    7. Lovely late lunch at a chum's after I dropped L back home.

    8. DD outside monkeying about happily :)
