  • Gone into Radio avoidance. Good job we have Classic FM (Note BoP is has been BBC free since 2013-04-08 11:50Z)
Good music all morning and no bullocks like other stations I could forget. Shame other stations are not the same.

Having heard from my Grandfather about the total wiping out of his Granddads family in Poland during the 1940s and his visit, in 1979 socialism kept people in shackles. In 1990, it was finished. Just a shame those champagne socialist of today had a punch up in Bristol http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Arrests-injuries-Bristol-Margaret-Thatcher-street/story-18653368-detail/story.html#axzz2Pxlopede

    Good evening all !

Mcculloch - well done re the second and third in the GN even if you didn't put a bet on.

Re Margaret Thatcher - lots of thoughts and opinions given by all (Like Marmite )Not impressed by images of people stamping on her photo though, she died possibly in a lot of pain and was someones mother and grandmother.Ritz or the moon it makes no odds. Rant over.

    5 for today

    1. Work carp

    2. Gave out a lot of e45 samples to colleagues.

3.Terrier here again as Mum still poorly. OH sent me a photo when I was at work of her carrying what can only be described as a very large tree in her mouth .For one so tiny she has a big mouth .This did make me laugh.

4.OH made some toffee yesterday which was too soft- he boiled the whole lot up again today and its just like Thorn*ons toffee (filling extractors :)) Great for gifts in the future - not this batch though:D.

    5. Curry for tea.

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

VJsmum - Sounds like you had a lovely day just "being" . And bumping into random friend - what were the odds on that??

Higher than you might think - we knew he lived nearby (ish) though wasn't expecting him in that place at that time.

    Great news Skint
Chicken - I hear what you say regarding the news on the Iron Lady and I certainly wouldn't advocate dancing on a grave (so to speak), I'm with Billy Bragg

From Billy Bragg, Calgary, AB, Canada, on the death
    of Margaret Thatcher:

This is not a time for celebration. The death of
Margaret Thatcher is nothing more than a salient reminder of how Britain got
into the mess that we are in today. Of why ordinary working people are no longer
able to earn enough from one job to support a family; of why there is a shortage
of decent affordable housing; of why domestic growth is driven by credit, not by
real incomes; of why tax-payers are forced to top up wages; of why a spiteful
government seeks to penalise the poor for having an extra bedroom; of why Rupert
Murdoch became so powerful; of why cynicism and greed became the hallmarks of
    our society.

Raising a glass to the death of an infirm old lady changes
none of this. The only real antidote to cynicism is activism. Don't celebrate -
    organise!

    For today

    1. Had a pleasant half of morning with OH, drinking coffee and chatting before I had to leave (OH and DS are staying till Saturday)
    2. WEnt to the Centre for Alternative Technology. I love it there. Was so pleasant in the sunshine and out of the wind. Enjoyed just strolling around up there
    3. Yummy lunch in the cafe - mediterranean veg casserole.
    4. Drove to Shrewsbury and spent an hour at Attingham Park and tea in the cafe with a naughty slice of carrot cake.
    5. Home with DD :D

    Boringly back to work tomorrow.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Evening

Just managed to lose my post so will try again.

Skint - Well done to your DS, great great news:j:j:j

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Packed lunches and breakfast for both me and OH, getting back into good habits.
    2. Free samples of the new lucozade drink at work, not to my taste but as free won't complain
    3. NSD
    4. Must be the day for curry as thats what we had for dinner as well. Put the slow cooker on this morning so was ready when came in from work. Was a bit watery but ok and there is a portion left for lunch tomorrow. We had Lidl naan bread with it which are very yummy.
    5. Baiting my brother on facebook with a picture of a case of his favourite wine that we had hidden in a cupboard at home. It is almost impossible to get this wine now. There is nothing quite like annoying a sibling (in a nice way) to make you smile:D

Hugs to all who need them

Marvellous news, skint - well done that son!
Billy Bragg's right - thankyou for that vjm.

    1. Just enjoyed puy lentils with 2 w8rs venison sausages, rtc of course. then warmed pears with thick cream[more rtc]. A really lovely mix of flavours and comfort.
    2. hwb waiting.
    3. Book ditto, with new one from Centre Peace[gentle place and people] en route through near village. It's by Chris Yates, whose fishing progs and writing were a feast in family life over some years. This is Nightwalk: A Journey into the Heart of Nature. It fits into my mood/plan for 7.
    4. 2 lots of washing out and in, inc.hefty SOS bus coat, after photo call today.
    5. Dug/weeded all of front, taking courage[= letting memories go]and uprooting 4 massive lavenders with 4" thick woody trunks. They've been ugly naked up the first 1' a few years now, since I needed to be away in France for 5 months. That's when the tending failed and could never be retrieved afterwards. I have so many things to plant in their stead for a mixed front shrubby/tree-y/woodlandy/birdfriendly hedge and will poke some in later.
    6. Email received. Have made a decision - no. Will convey tomorrow.
    7. Thinking of how to be completely and utterly removed from all that next Wednesday will bring and I have had an idea.

Although the sun shone, the wind remained chill, sometimes strong, all day. I was surprised to come back in for a scarf, even though working. Just daren't risk any more backwards steps, even in my pukeko gummies, which enjoyed their workout.

Can put a story tape on, avoid ALL 't'-word stuff, although I have absorbed Polly Toynbee and Grauniad others in fierce agreement.

Dreams of promise, peacefulness and potential to all - I usually re-read Ode to the West Wind about this time of year, but there isn't quite that warm lift of hope in the air yet.

    Soon.
